I feel I am so lucky to have Shawn as my agent when I am buying the three units property in San Francisco. When I am considering to purchase the property last December, I have little knowledge about the locations and the best fit for my situation. Shawn spent so much time to educate me about different areas of the Cities. I have asked him so many questions and each time he is patiently explain everything in details. His intense education really shortened my learning curve from several months into just a couple of weeks. Shawn is also very dedicated broker. He answered my calls any time when he was available or will call me back very shortly. Sometime I call him in the midnight and he still serve me just like during the day. He was also very effective, capable and hard working. He helped me to arrange any properties I would like to visit at any time I want during the COVID period. Many times, I feel I am so unreasonable to ask him to let me visit those properties next day and expected him say sorry. But each time, he made it happened and gave me surprises. Shawn is also very honest person. He gave me his honest opinion if the property is a good buy. He will point out things that I have missed which helped prevent me to make a wrong decision. Working with Shawn relieved me lots of stress and make the whole process very enjoyable, because I know I have a trustworthy broker and he will catch my mistakes. Since the property we bought is a multiunit one, Shawn also helped me on many issues related to multiple units. With the help of Shawn, I got our desired property. I am very happy with the purchase and would like to express my sincere thanks to Shawn. I also highly recommend him to anyone who are buying properties in San Francisco.

Shawn was, simply put, amazing. I have worked with several other real estate agents over the past…read more20 years, and Shawn was so much better than all of them, I will never again use anyone else. Shawn is one of those unique people that is a master of both the big picture and the tiniest detail. For example, Shawn had a phenomenal grasp of market trends, how COVID was impacting inventory, sales, construction, buyer's psychology, etc. He absolutely had a bird's eye view of how all these complex variables interact with each other (and he's happy to share the data with you if you want to see it). But at the same time, he completely understood how tiny details were important - when comparing comps, he might start by discussing price per square foot, but then he would show you a particular comp and discuss how the remodeled kitchen likely impacted the price. Big picture - Shawn encouraged us to fix up our house and stage it (absolutely the right decision, even though we were wary at first) Detail - When Shawn walked through our house, he noticed that a couple of our doorknobs didn't match the rest of them. He quickly found a matching set on Amazon for under $20 and sent us the link. Shawn works his butt off. Shawn is incredibly dedicated and has the philosophy that you are spending a lot of money for his services, and he wants to make sure you get you money's worth. He coordinated everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything. He saw himself as the project manager, and made all the phone calls (for painters, stagers, carpet, lighting, landscaping, handyman, etc.) It wasn't even something I had to ask him to do. He saw it as his job and took the initiative to call people and meet with them. He screened people for quality and kept an eye on their progress to make sure everything was going smoothly. If you want to just hand Shawn the keys to your place and say, "do everything", he will. But he's also very happy to keep you involved as much as you want to be. Incredible communication - Shawn was always available and responded to texts or phone calls within minutes (if not seconds). That was a huge relief, since often decisions need to be made quickly Professional and personable - Shawn is both. He takes his job very seriously, and takes a great deal of pride in the quality of his work. But at the same time, he's got a great sense of humor and will set you at ease. I think this combination also works extremely when he communicates with other agents and potential buyers. They like him and they trust him. Speaking of trust, Shawn is very ethical - honesty and transparency are core to the way he works, and whether it was disclosures or other issues, he always encouraged us to be truthful. Keeps his cool under pressure - The San Francisco real estate market is crazy, and decisions have to be made very quickly. Sometimes after you list your home, you are faced with key decisions within hours of listing. Shawn doesn't let his emotions (or more importantly his clients' emotions) interfere with sound decision-making. In our particular situation, on the day our house was listed, we had a preemptive offer, cash offers and financed offers , some that expired within hours. He helped us navigate very complex and difficult decisions in a thoughtful, reasoned, calm and objective way (even when we were panicking). Results - Damn, what can I say. At the end of the day what you really want to know is will Shawn get you the result you want. The answer is no - he will get you results that are much better. We were hoping for a certain sales price and had an idea of a listing price. Shawn encouraged us to increase our listing price a bit, and ultimately we got 30% more than what we were hoping for, and this was significantly higher than the comps, in large part due to all the suggestions Shawn had made along the way. In retrospect, Shawn knew exactly what he was doing from beginning to end, and if you work with him it's a forgone conclusion that you will be very happy with the results. It's really not about luck; it's about skill, and Shawn has that in spades.

We had been casually looking at the market for a long while and happened to run across Eric Wong as the selling agent at an open house a number of years back (2019?). We remembered during that open house he was friendly, informative and seemed honest (to us even as the buyers). He has been a long time El Cerrito resident and knows the area quite well (along with a lot of the Bay Area in general, I'm sure). In the Spring of 2021, we reached out to Eric to see if he was interested in representing us as home buyers and he was. Having been casually looking at the market for a while, we had a good sense of what we were looking for (style and size of the home and in which areas). From that standpoint, Eric would usually send us newly listed properties and we would let him know which ones we were interested in seeing. So there was not much taking the day to explore what's on the market (which is needed to get a feel for what's out there and in surrounding areas if less familiar). For the homes which we were interested in moving forward with an offer, Eric provided his honest opinion about what a competitive offer would be, the risks of holding or waving certain contingencies, and set realistic expectations. He also gave sound advice in regards to what the home inspection reports indicated to him, as well as introduced us to a mortgage lender who was easy to work with and got us a rate that we could support a competitive offer. Our first few offers were not accepted, but Eric was encouraging, and he set realistic expectations, so we were not crushed with every rejection. His encouragement and even keel kept our hopes up and he constantly says buying a home is a process. Happy to say, the perseverance paid off, the process works and we finally had an offer accepted and a new home to look forward to! Finding a real estate agent to work with is a lot like finding a good health care provider, lawyer, or barber. At the end of the day, it has to be someone you can trust (at least on a professional level), share the same vision and probably more importantly, someone you get along with (not just tolerate). And for that personality does matter. Eric had the right personality for us and it worked out, and we can wholeheartedly recommend him. Remember though, this is variable, so find someone you're comfortable talking openly with, trust that his/her professional perspective matches your expectations and that should set up a good foundation for success. Update: We are very happy with the purchase of our home. To date there have been no major surprises which would probably have made us second guess our review of inspection reports or conjure doubt of how we missed something. In retrospect, the time Eric took walking us through all the documentation was worth the peace of mind.

Emotionally speaking, Burt Bacharach wrote, "A chair is not a house and a house is not a home." I'm not sure which muse I was following when I typed "Best Realtors Oakland" on SFiST in December, but I was extremely lucky to have found Joe. I had owned a house in Oakland for quite a number of years. When I first bought it in my financially undernourished youth, I invested money to turn it into a duplex, and then years later I moved out to turn it into a full rental property. When long-term tenants left in November, I reached a moment of reflection when I decided to sell the house. That and freedom from the chains of property management. Without selling experience on my own, I reached out to Joe blindly, and I immediately had a strong sense of competence and trust that never wavered during the entire process. Since this house was truly not a home, at least for me, it needed some overdue repairs and a visual facelift, which initially overwhelmed me since I thought I would have to take care of it myself. However, Joe and his team took complete control and managed all the work and my cost expectations. They convinced me of the value of staging, which I honestly didn't know was essential in helping prospective buyers visualize the possibilities with the house. I mean, da-yum, this house be lookin' good (photo: https://bit.ly/381IA3e). By March, we were ready for a couple of weekends of open houses, and multiple offers emerged, an enviable situation for a seller in a high-demand market. It wouldn't have happened had it not been the meticulous efforts of Joe, Alicia, and their team. They really made the whole process much smoother and far less problematic than it could've been if I was left to my own devices. When I took that final look back at my house...excuse me, THE house, I finally recognized that Franklin and Burt were both right. Who da' thunk?

Two days later, when I was having lunch at a tiny restaurant in a small HuTong (alley) in Beijing, I received a text from Jeff that said "Congratulations! You got the house!" After the initial shock wore off, I asked Jeff to visit our home in Orinda to assess its marketability. He approached the assignment with more seriousness and professionalism than I expected--he arrived with printed data of all recent sales in our neighborhood. He was confident that our Orinda home would sell. Trusting his judgment, we moved forward and bought the Moraga one. By the time we listed our Orinda home, the market had started to cool. A similar house close-by had just taken a $140K price cut. Against all odds, Jeff secured an offer for us after the first open house--just as he had done with our Moraga purchase. One open house, he got us our new home and sold our old one. The stress we experienced while our old home was on the market was some of the worst we've ever had. Moreover we wanted an agent with a lot of patience with our questions and I am glad I was referred to Scott through a friend who also was his happy client in the past. Scott was very forthright from the start and assured us that no matter how long it takes, eventually we'll find the right home for our family. He was also very knowledgeable about the likely range a house might go for and that guidance was valuable as we progressed with our shortlisting and offers process. We had a few close offers that didn't work out and I was feeling like we were priced out of the market, but not by much as Scott's guesstimates were close to the selling prices.
