Our catch.
Lisa M.

It was excellent. We took our 4 year old who had never fished before. He was so excited to catch his fish. He actually ate his catch all weekend. It was the only protein (not junk food) i saw him eat. Bonus!!! Highly recommend.

A partial tail still there too.

The kids had fun fishing. The reason why I'm only giving three stars is because whomever gutted and filleted did not do a good job. Pin bones were left on all the filets. Pin bones are the tiny bones fish have and are really really annoying to do without proper equipment. You can't eat a filet of fish with pin bones. I would recommend that the workers filet it right because this wasn't enjoyable.

Beautiful flowers & butterflies

What an amazing place! My grandson & I had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful & well cared for. The employees were so sweet. They explained how to fish the ponds & let him watch as they filleted his fish. Will definitely be back. *They have a beautiful event area too. Outdoor county style with a good size pavilion/barn look.

We spent several hours here today with five adults and four kids. Everyone had fun! Beautiful grounds with several ponds, a bridge, bowery, lots of fish, ducks and even a black swan. There is also a cool well, shaded benches, chairs, bathrooms and soda machine. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. Fishing poles, food and buckets are available. There was only one other small group fishing with us. Unfortunately the fish weren't really biting today (must have been fed recently) so we only kept one large trout. One section of grass was super muddy and slippery.

We had a pleasant experience time while fishing here. Besides the different ponds that you can fish from, there is a little farm where you can feed some chickens, a cow, and some goat. Right before the sun went down a young lady named Lilian came and told us we had 30 minutes before closing and explained if we wanted our fish to be gutted and filleted to give her 1 minute per fish to be done. We had a total of five fish that she cleaned for us. Lilian was so knowledgeable and personable. We will definitely continue to come back here.

Big Catch!

this was such a great afternoon spent. Took my four-year-old niece we caught 11 fish. makayla at the desk was amazing. She was so sweet with my niece, answered all her questions and for later fish up so we could fish fry tonight with Papa. Thank you so much for the hospitality and delicious fish.

Sweet old school ride in the lot!

This place is beyond cool. I've traveled quite a bit and have only seen a farm similar to this in Seattle. Needless to say, my local friends bringing me here was the most fun I've had outdoors doing a new activity in a while. Fed all sorts of rainbow fish ranging from small handfuls, to large, nearly full grown trout. Amazed and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Oh, did I mention the ladies behind the counter were SUPER friendly. Thanks!

This place is awesome! They have poles, no need for bait. They sell fish food for the kids to toss in the ponds and the fish get so excited! They follow you around as they think you have food. No need for fishing licenses here. And they charge for what you catch. They charge for fileting the catch at 50cents each fish. See my photos for price on catches. There are a few ponds and a separate pond for catch and release at $15/hr. We will definitely be back! We'll bring our family and friends out to ensure everyone has a successful catch for dinner!

We had a lot of fun fishing today, but unfortunately, when checking out the young group of people helping was very unfriendly, rude, and they looked like they hated their jobs lol Not even a single smile from their part Other than that we loved it, the girls had lots of fun!

Our family has made this a Fathers' Day tradition. We reserve a table and enjoy a picnic before the children fish.

First (and most importantly), Clark and Bill are great people. They are the kind of guys that I would hang out with even if we weren't hiring them to help us fish. They are all about making sure that their clients are having a good time. They are super accommodating and made sure to provide the fishing experience we were looking for. Secondly, as far as fishing and the outdoors, these guys are the real deal! They are extremely knowledgeable and know all the techniques and tricks to make sure that you have a successful fishing outing. I have learned a lot about fishing and the outdoors from Clark, who is always willing to teach and impart his knowledge which my son and I love. Lastly, their setup is extremely convenient and fun. Kayak fishing is such an amazing way to spend time in the outdoors. We have caught lots of fish every time we have gone out with them. Their kayaks and gear are top notch and the best part is that everything is setup and ready to go for you when you arrive. I cannot say enough about how great of experience we have had with Fish on Kayaking. Looking forward to the next time that we get to do it again!

There was a good amount of parking available, although I'd imagine it might fill up when they have some of their larger events. I saw a pelican in the lake with fishing line around its neck, so I tracked down the camp host, who said they'd take care of it. I sure hope that pelican is ok. Aside from that, I didn't see a whole lot of wildlife with the exception of birds-lots of birds. If I was a bird, I'd stay here too, those trees are great! I look forward to coming back to Fort Buenaventura when they hold a community event, or maybe even during the summer to camp for a night or two. It's a beautiful place!

Upon arrival we were told to "get the f**k out" if we weren't paying customers! After trying to ask for info, and perhaps a location of a restroom (since there aren't any others near there) we were crudely brushed off yet again. Frustrated, I found and quickly used a restroom near the playground area. As we were leaving, the same toothless fella who had so profanely asked us to leave came speeding up in a golf cart blocking us into the park. He yelled and demanded that we pay him a $100 fine right then and there! For using the bathroom at a PUBLIC PARK. There was no arguing with him. I gave him the only cash I had, which was $20, just so we could get the heck out of there! HE MADE ME BRIBE HIM TO LEAVE. I'm absolutely disgusted by my encounter at this park. I will never EVER return or recommend to anyone.

No motorized boats are allowed on this reservoir, so it's the perfect place to kayak, canoe, paddle board, or just bring a floaty and float around. There's also a bunch of cliff jumping. I would definitely recommend getting here early, especially on the weekend, as the parking lot fills up quickly, and the reservoir gets crowded. We got here around 9am and it was the perfect time. By the time we left around 1pm, the parking lot was completely full and there were a ton of people out on the reservoir. Even with the volume of people on the water, it never feels too crowded. There's no overnight camping here, and it's completely free to access this reservoir, which is one of the reasons its so popular. A beautiful place to spend the day!

Possibly a little too scary for some audiences-usually those that are shorter than a yardstick. The indoor area of the museum is very well done with lots of displays and exhibits that educate guests on the different pre-historic beings. There were far more than I could have named on my own with my basic "Land Before Time" dinosaur knowledge. Upstairs, you'll find rocks and gems, which is well done although maybe less interesting to some folks. However, take a peek at the dinner rocks-there's a whole display of rocks that are in the shape of food. I got a kick out of that. Outside, there's lots of wide open space with paths that wander throughout the trees. There are dinos dispersed throughout the property, and a few benches to sit on. Lots of the grounds were covered in weeds, which may have been what the dinosaurs preferred to eat. However, in modern day, it just looks unkempt. For a kiddo-or adult-that has a fascination with dinosaurs, this could be a fun place to spend an afternoon. For the rest of us, an hour or two is probably plenty.
