Classes at IRDTC are geared to many skill levels and needs. I have received nothing but kindness…read more One trainer checked in with me when I had a fall; another called to find out why I was absent, having missed a message I left. In another class, a member reached out when I was absent to be sure I was okay. Indian River Dog Training Club is more than a class; it is a community. I haven't been involved with the meetings and politics; all clubs have their little cliques and hassles, in my humble opinion. I enjoyed helping set up for an obedience trial and learned a lot just by volunteering to help in a trial ring. Members volunteer their time to teach classes. I would urge a person who has a bad experience with one trainer to remember, maybe this person had a bad day at work, has a sick relative, or is just tired. If you don't like one trainer, try another. Harvest suggestions so you find what works for you. This is a training club, not a for-profit business. Trainers and members have worked with me and my puppy so now I have a pal I can take anywhere. She is often mistaken for a service animal, because of her good manners. A well-trained dog doesn't happen overnight. It depends on you. IRDTC is a great place to get started or to keep going to the level of training you want.

My dog started off very loud and disobedient and with training she's great! A lot of it's the handler not the dog so if you're open to learning your dog will go far! I highly recommend them to anyone with a dog

She is smart enough to make her own decisions, and that includes ignoring me! Mila and I had previously went to a positive only trainer. That trainer could not get Mila to walk nicely on a leash or perform commands outside my apartment. I was SUPER hesitant on starting "balanced" training. Even before I committed to doing training sessions with Susie, she spent the time explaining her methods and how she teaches dogs. From the get go, before we even started training, Susie took the time to explain to me in detail what she was doing, why she was doing it, and how to respond to Mila's behavior. After 3 sessions with Susie, the dog that used to ignore me on walks and pay zero mind to me is now listening to my commands on walks and checking in on me when I don't ask for it. The three sessions with Susie have been night and day with Mila's behavior. Susie has been so patient with mine and Mila's learning journey. I was able to learn more about dog training and strengthen my relationship with Mila through this experience. You can tell Susie is TREMENDOUSLY passionate about dog training and behavior, and I would 3000% recommend Susie to anyone.

As well as our Pekinese/brussel griffon who prefers using the bathroom in the house. She worked so well with our young children and gave them tools to successfully help in their behavior changes. She taught us the importance of fulfilling their needs which meant uninterrupted play time with our overly playful English bulldog. She taught us so much and never rushed. She spent hours helping us and I love that she involved the children. We noticed an immediate difference in our English Bulldog as she worked on calming his behavior and we are so excited to see him blossom! Thanks Susie!

My dogs were hesitant to go with them. My one was pushed through gate by employee because she wasn't wanting to go in. Three times, in as many months, one dog had issues after pickup. Next day vet visit. Diagnosis was pinched nerve in neck, which caused back legs to go weak. Nursed back to health & two weeks later back to Woof. He developed kennel cough. Another vet visit. Was told he could not return for 10 days. Third & last time - upon pick up he was down in hips. Could barely walk. Itching & broke out on mouth & under legs. So sad. Vet treated again, & thank G, he's healthy now. After a year or more as client, I will not return. Such a drastic change. Employees attitudes have even been bad. No more pleasantries; one even turned me away because she failed to enter my appointment. I was paying $200 a month for playcare. On top of this, over $600 in vet bills in three month period. My dogs have been home while I research other facilities, & cannot be happier, or healthier!
