C;lose to the bustle of Columbia Road Flower Market (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/35489-Columbia-Road-London) , this is a simple doorway to a back yard open halfway along an alley. On Sundays, when the market's on, a guy swings the door open, puts up a table, and starts selling oysters from Colchester. Mmm mmm.
£6.50 will get you a half dozen, opened, with some bread and butter, Tabasco, and lemon. They start serving them about 10:30am-ish, and the market closes at 2pm, but they ran out today shortly after noon (just two people behind me).
You can get the same oysters to take away and shell yourself for a fiver. They had signs with smoked fish for sale as well.
The oysters were big, great, & tasty. And it's a fun thing to do, queue in an alley for oysters.
There are some tables and benches nearby. read more
