Coko Bongo, for some reason I thought of Donkey Kong bangin' on some bongos when I heard your name. Well my friends, if you want an interesting night in TJ with a little of top 40 dance music and a whole lot of reggaeton, CB has got you covered. Dancin' to current dance hits mixed with Latin flair, I gotta say that it's "all in yo hips." Saturday night Avenida Revolucion was starting to pop off, our squad was gettin' thirsty, and we wanted to shake them taco adobada calories. We paid 14 usd each for cover and a very watered down open bar (Ehhh can't complain lol) to get into this 2 story club scene. Line was moving pretty fast, and we got there at 10 pm. Midnight though it was PACKED. My Spanish, or Spanglish to exact, has a lot to be desired in terms with communicating with others. But luckily, I let my dance grooves do the talking, and man was I lit. Lines for my open bar margaritas were decently short. Barely any alcohol in there. We ended up buying a bottle service with tequila for one of the tables upstairs for only 50 bucks usd. Pretty cheap woo hoo! You get a better look of the club. The servers try to up sell you with driveby bottle shots directly in your mouth, expecting some propina (tip). The age crowd seemed pretty 20-30's and the dress code was that there was none. Guys wearing snap backs, and some cholo took his shirt off for no reason, good thing security took care of that business. I know Nelly said it's getting hot in hurr, but please keep on all your clothes. Random instance this night, a group of people thought I was their long lost college friend in Guatemala and kept calling me Eduardo in Spanish. Eduardo from Guatemala, where were you?! "Yo tengo la gasolina, Rompe, Rompe... Daddy Yankee, Pitbull!!!" Music was cool, reminded me of Senior year prom, the music was like... Hip hop mashed With a bunch of reggaeton. There was one edm song that the DJ played, and I had to shuffle right there and then. Tip: This club is not ready for the shuffling. The venue is pretty small heads up. If you wanna be adventurous, spend a couple of hours in a club in TJ and lean like a cholo, give this place a try. Oh yeah, the cages are for dancing girls only.

I've passed this club many times along Ave. Revolucion. I've always heard loud music and many people going into this place, so this time around I decided to give it a try. The cover charge was $13.00US. The inside of the place is actually a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The music was popping, but the crowd was not really my scene. There was a mixture of quality in the crowd, but the drinks weren't too bad. The place is rather narrow, but has an upstairs portion. The upstairs leads to other seating areas and rooms playing other types of music. This club is mostly frequented by locals in their early 20s. My buddies and I stuck around for maybe 30 minutes and moved on. It didn't really suit our fancy, but other people may find it more appealing. The restrooms were pretty badly maintained, so I would not use them here. Other than that, the place serves as an ok destination for a night out in TJ.

The entrance to the upstairs patio is a little seedy.. it is through the back.. up some stairwell.. but you end up upstairs in this big open space which is clearly a dance floor at night. Plenty of outdoor seating on the terrace. Rene delivered his promise and we got our margaritas and he even threw in some free tequila shots. Meanwhile, my party of 3 got to sit outdoors and people watch from above all of the action happening on one of the main streets of TJ. We were also convinced to order Coronas.. again.. free tequila shot included.. thanks Rene! Our total was ridiculously cheap.. we paid American dollars and it came out to roughy $40 (tip included) for 6 margs, 3 Coronas, and 6 free tequila shots. Also a plus.. bathrooms here. Apparently at some places you have to pay or tip to use the bathroom. Free access here. I will definitely recommend this place.. it's a good time.

He even threw in free shots of tequila so we were sold to try it. We have no regrets! We sat on the 2nd floor balcony, overlooking Avenida Revolucion. The margaritas were generous. We even ordered a side of guacamole and he came out with salsa to go with our chips. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. Rene made our experience fun. Bonuses: they take US dollars and there's a decent bathroom. Highly recommend!
