Kenzo will give you a kool kut. Words, let alone, correct spelling, cannot do any due justice to the Kenzo hairkut experience. Sure, you can come in off the street and he'll give you an excellent kut but you get the Kenzo experience if the vibe is right.
Enter the domain ... of Kenzo. You'll walk into the antechamber where there is a Japanese Zen garden. The man and his chair are immediately to your left. There is only one barbershop chair here and that's the only one that needs to be here. This is a one man show. You and your hairs are but actors and spectators in a grand show that is ... the Kenzo show.
This person knows how to kut some hair. He comes highly qualified and highly endorsed by notable types and has more than three decades of expertise; wielding an almost Edward-scissorhands dexterity with his hands and implements.
Kenzo, of Hmong heritage, became a Vietnamese emigre to Québec as a teenager in the late 1960s during the mass exodus of the "Boat People" from their native Viet Nam during the Franco-American colonial cum imperialist occupation and invasion.
En route to Montréal, he was interned as an enemy illegal alien for a portion of the war, in a Bangkok immigration detention centre, where he discovered his life long love of Thai cuisine!
"I would go to jail in Bangkok for free Thai food ... three times daily" says Kenzo as he pulls a drag of his marihuana cigarette.
... Just sayin' GO Red shirts!
He finally arrived in Montréal where he promptly discovered chocolate as well as his love for cutting hair.
"I found that I liked chocolate, so I would take it. Rawr. I'd just take it. I've been cutting hair for a long time; that's me, that's not you, love, that's me" Kenzo pensively reflects as he knowingly sculpts our interlocutor's locks.
At some point during the journey called life ... he married and had children. He raised his progeny with the openly accepting, cosmopolitan, multilingual and multiethnic philosophy that is the foundation stone of all practitioners of The Way and The Path.
Kenzo, recently, for the first time ever, got his first apartment; he is living alone in a hip Plateau pad. He is enjoying life and love to the fullest. His son has just graduated high school and his daughter is getting married in three weeks. Kenzo is winning at life and with him ... by your side your hairs will be winning too.
Kenzo is first and foremost -- a philosopher King -- but he'll also give you a 275$ kut for the low, low, and reasonable donation of 45$. Come one, come all. Any, every and all ethnic/national/socioeconomic/religious/political backgrounds, beliefs, creeds, ages, castes, colours, languages, genders, sexual orientations and identities are welcome. Bigots and sycophants as well as those promoting racism, racialism, xenophobia, homophobia, lesbiphobia, transphobia or any geopolitical and / or religious conflict ... need not apply.
Enjoy your edgy Montréal kewl kut all you kool kids.
You're welcome.
