Agreed with fellow Yelper Christina's comment. My dental insurance covered 100% of my prophylactic general cleaning, but I was met with a $20 "facility fee" after my cleaning was completed, which was not disclosed to me at any time. The opportunity to be up front and honest about this additional cost presented itself while I was filling out paperwork when I arrived for my appointment. Lack of transparency from receptionist and dental team. Please keep up with best practices and be honest with hidden costs/fees - it goes a long way. read more

Dr.Cohen is the greatest dentist ever and his staff are super sweet and supportive. I'm always greeted with a smile and hug. Update - and oh it gets even worse. He won't release my x-rays without paying $35 for myself, and another $35 for my husband. This guy is the biggest crook I've ever seen in the industry. I spoke with him, and he said it's a misconception that the x-rays belong to the client and he has every right to charge a fee. He also added that I'm not nice to him, writing bad reviews about him so he won't be nice to me. I was surprised at my first appointment with Dr. David Cohen. He told me that everyone is asked for $20.00 extra to see him. OK. But then just x-rays no cleaning? I was told that I must first be referred to a dental specialist about my two bottom front teeth for removal, implants, or root canals. (These two teeth are not bothering me at all!) I did not go to this specialist because he wanted over $300.00 just to see me. NO THANKS! I was supposed to go in for cleaning next week. After I called his office to tell him I did not go to that specialist Dr. Cohen sent me an email cancelling my appointment and terminating his services with me. I am still shocked! Furthermore, he is holding my x-rays "hostage" unless I fork over $35.00 to him. Yeah. Delta Dental insurance says that he should NOT be charging that extra $20.00 fee to everyone. Now I have to seek out a new more honorable dentist. WOW! After reading some reviews here I feel blessed about only losing $20.00 with what, sadly, I have found to be a dentist scamming me. read more

Well, let's just say I wasted thousands of dollars going here for a root canal. If I would've known what I know now, I would have never gone here for treatment. A couple years back I had a root canal done here, and what seemed like forever, he would come in and out of the room, say "hmm" a few times while filling down my root, made me question him and asked him if everything was OK and he said "yeah, you just have really deep roots". When everything was done, within the first week or two, I was able to eat again, but notice I can still feel hot and cold where I had the root canal. I thought it was normal so I tried to pay no attention to it but through the time, it was getting worse and worse. Long story short, had to go to another dentist with excruciating pain for them to assess me and they told me that I had to go to a specialist to get another root canal. That specialist told me that whoever gave me my root canal did a horrible job and left a lot of parts of my root which caused tooth decay and told me it infected my gums. Luckily, she was able to stop it there before it got to my jawbone, which would have lead to bone cancer. So here I am, writing this review and about $7000 in debt. Thanks a lot!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Cohen is a scam artist and not only a poor excuse for a dentist, but an even poorer excuse of a human being. We had to leave our old dentist because he stopped taking our insurance. On 1-31-19 I had X-Rays and Dr. Cohen told me I had to come back for two deep cleanings with Novocaine because I had so much build up and pockets on my gums that were mostly 6's. I brush my teeth at least twice a day and floss. My old dentist was always so complimentary about what great teeth I had and what a fantastic job I did. Needless to say, I left Dr. Cohen's office feeling awful and knowing he lied right to my face. My husband told me to schedule an appointment with our old dentist and he would pay cash. That visit happened today and my dentist probed each tooth and said my worst pocket was a 3! He said I had minimal plaque build up in the usual areas, no bleeding, excellent gums, and there was absolutely no excuse for two deep cleanings. He told me I saw the worst in dentistry and he apologized on Dr. Cohen's behalf. Besides being a scam artist, you leave his office feeling like you need a shower. He tells inappropriate jokes and just makes your skin crawl. My daughters refuse to go back! He told me my 19 year old daughter had her first cavity, but he could fill it with no Novocaine, I doubt she even had a cavity because my daughter said he didn't drill!?! I am going to report him to the ADA and my insurance because nobody deserves unnecessary dental treatments and to be taken advantage of. I paid $110 for a dentist to talk with me and clean my teeth during a 70 minute visit without insurance vs. Dr. Cohen who takes our insurance and said my share alone would be $340 for work I didn't need. read more

I've been going to the same dentist for years and never had a cavity. My former dentist told me he's just keeping his eye on a couple areas. I went to see Dr. Cohen for the first time and all of a sudden I had five cavities. Suspicious. I declined to have the "cavities" worked on. Fast forward to now....I have since moved, changed insurances, and found a new dentist. After seeing my new dentist, he said I don't have any cavities, "but want to keep my eye on a couple spots." Been going here for over 10 years. No issues. Straight forward conversations. I get sealants and haven't had any issues with my teeth. Consistently do the baking soda cleaning to help. Never have felt pressured to get any extra services and he has been very good at trying to point out ways to improve home care to reduce costly procedures in the future. Ok, let me preface this by saying "I hate dentists" however I found one that I like. It has nothing to do with our names being the same but the fact that he's almost painless. I'm not going to be stupid and say he's painless but darn near close. My first visit was x-rays and consult, my 2nd was a root canal and crowning that and another tooth ( canines) and this visit was virtually painless. The Dr himself called the next day to see how I was and scaling the pain was about 1.5-2. My third visit I had several teeth pulled and when HE called again pain was probably 3 with the temporary immediate denture in. 0 with it out. I'll see him again on Wednesday for the removal of a tooth that is gone, broken off to my gum lines, I'm expecting pain from this one. I hope to report none. Never go to a Dentist that will say I'm going to Nichol and Dime you to get paid since HMO only pays him $3 dollars a month and PPO pays $80 a month? What the heck does that even mean? Beware HMO patients. And now I have to go through the whole procedure again , they have to cut the old half crown off my tooth put a temporary on for two weeks then get a new crown because this crown that has been deemed unsatisfactory by a different regional dentist out of the insurance group! I remember being referred to going here from a friend. went in for a regular cleaning, and he gave me a sphill on why he needed to do all these procedures, and then i asked why doesn't insurance cover them, and he told me some joke along the lines of " does insurance really care for me" anyways, I was dumb enough to pay 400$ for half of my mouth deep cleaned and getting I believe 2 sealants. He also mentioned that he can't even sanitize the room for the cost of what insurance pays him. I have been in the dental chair a lot lately and each time I have been in there I notice a few more details about the place- Bottom line is Dr. Cohen is very professional as is Dr. Drew( who has a different last name but very difficult to spell) they both take that extra step and time to make sure everything is done right. I love Dr. Cohen, he's amazing! His staff is great, and there's very little wait time, if any to see him when you come in for an appointment. Everyone I've recommended loves him as well. I also like that he keeps up on current innovations in his field. For example, I had a cavity and he was able to drill it with a laser thing which didn't hurt at all, and I didn't even have any kind of pain killer (I was given a choice however). After he filled it, it didn't even hurt and I was able to eat. So, I very highly recommend him. read more
