Well, I am in two minds about this one. I had a really great night, with friends I hadn't seen for ages, my friend was Djing so I knew the music would be good. at the moment there is only one floor in use, but it was about right for the number of people there.
The bar advertises itself as steam-punk, but if I hadn't been told that i don't think I would have known! It has a sort of grotty feel about it, so I guess that works for an alterantive bar!;)
A pint for cider is £3.75 i think, which is fine, but the oddest thing of all is that withoutwarning at 10.30, then stop serving anything from the taps -even though the venue is open until 4am! i have never seen or heard anything so ridiculous!! I then bought a bottle of cider for £3.80, which was served in a plastic glass. I went back to get another one at approx 11.15 to find they had completely run out of all ciders!! i don't think it was due to popularity, I just think they have poorly stacked shelves/fridges. Nothing else was offered to me, but i could spot a few small bottles of Becks in the fridge. i have never seen such a badly stocked bar in the city. This venue will never make any money if they don't have any drinks to sell!!
i would go back for my friends night, but for no other reason. read more
