Five years later it's still a local, nice Bay Ridge coffee spot. Currently Priced at 4.50$ per small latte, it's 50 cents more than what it was 5 years ago. I'd say that it's expensive for coffee here but it seems that they still have a loyal following. They have free WiFi so it seems that people come here to study and do computer work. I came over here and was pleasantly surprised with their drink menu. I love my matcha, I was going to get their Matcha Latte, but I saw this drink on the menu called Nutella Monster and couldn't resist. It's a cold coffee with Nutella, cream, and two Nutella( i mean espresso, woops) shots. It was refreshing and did its job waking me up. The decor in the café was nice, but it wasn't as comfy and cozy as some cafes. I wouldn't do much work here, but would definitely recommend for people wanting to catch a drink and snack with a friend or a good place to break the ice for a first date. This is a great local coffee shop to support in Bay Ridge. It's busy but not super crowded, making it a great coffee shop to come to if you want to get some work done. Their food and coffee selection is pretty vast - so a great place to come for a quick and easy brunch with friends or right before/after some errands. The people that work here are unbelievably kind. I have a few dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to customize one of their special latte's so that I could try it. 10/10 suggest their bumblebee latte - it was made perfectly! read more

Yeah ONE star . I actually read a one star review before coming here and was like what why would anyone give this place a one star it sounds so awesome . So I came here to try the lattes and they're $5.50 12 oz cups so they better be the most amazing lattes I've ever had or the service better be phenomenal or else really what's the point of an expensive cup of coffee ?! The guy asked me if my order was for here or to go (we also got a sandwich) and I clearly stated it was for here. 1. They didn't do any latte art on the Nutella latte - serious pet peeve like if you're going to broadcast latte art and $5.50 for a 12 oz cup you better give me my latte art . I even asked the guy why and he made up some cap about it having Nutella so chocolate so is difficult or whatever . Fine . And the girl barista making my coffee was all like oh what's wrong etc and ofcourse the next thing she does is - 2. They gave it in to- go cups ! Like WTF WHY like we got food and lattes and we're sitting down ! The least you can do it give it to me in a cup . Everyone else had cups so there's ZERO reason not to give it to us ! I know this is a little thing and might not be a big deal . But honestly it totally ruined the vibe . Came here to try their famous Nutella Monster and it was pretty good. Like others have said, it's like drinking a ferrero rocher. I didn't find it to be too sweet and the hazelnut flavor was actually pretty subtle. You can choose to add whipped cream on top at no additional cost so why not? It's $6, which is pretty pricy for a drink but it's pretty big and tasty so I think it's ok. Service was very nice! This place isn't the most decorated coffee shop I've been to but its simplicity gives it a rustic charm. read more

However, I don't understand why, when I choose to order a large size coffee drink, I am asked whether I'd like "extra milk or an extra shot of espresso" and then I will be further up charged no matter which I choose. I pay more for the large size, that is not simply for the size of the cup, it is also for what comes in the cup. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about this place which just popped up two blocks from my apartment (and by the way, this place is NOT affiliated with WTF Coffee Lab in Fort Greene). After the closing of Aloha Grinds, Bay Ridge has been completely void of coffee houses. We had to turn to Dunkin, bakeries, delis, or god forbid, Starbucks, for our coffee. Not cool. My first experience here was excellent. I like the decor (trendy, somewhat industrial, with a couple of communal tales as well as smaller tables). My Americano (which I admit I am very picky about) was perfect. I also had a lemon macaron which was fresh and very yummy (there were also green tea and red velvet macarons). The owner is very nice and walked around the tables making sure that everyone was happy with their coffee. Overall, a great first visit, will be back for more very soon. read more

I recently changed my barber right across the street from Coffee Rx. I almost fell asleep during my 45-minute haircut so I can probably use a coffee next time before I visit the barbershop.. We sat outdoors in the intimate backyard garden. It was lovely and clean. Nutella Latte $5.00 (S) - I have a huge sweet tooth. This latte should be very satisfying for any Nutella lover. The latte was very sweet but even my sweet tooth couldn't finish the bottom part of the cup. Recommended! I've also heard great things about the Nutella Monster so I will be sure to give it a try next time around. Rose Latte $4.75 (S) - Unique rose taste with a cool latte art presentation--the latte is made with real rose petals and tastes amazing! Cranberry Oatmeal Cookie ~$3 (approximate price) - The cookie was a product of Dough. It went well with the latte. The cookie was hard on the outside and chewy on the inside. It wasn't too sweet and was just right. Nutella Banana Belgian Waffles $7 - Consisted of soft Belgian waffles and bananas with a slab of Nutella on top. You really can't go wrong with this if you're a Nutella lover. There was nothing special about the waffle but I would probably skip for another snack next time. If you're in the area and would like to get away from the popular Starbucks, Coffee Rx is an excellent option. Staff was very friendly and I loved the chill space out in the garden. read more

Niche coffee has finally arrived on the shores of Bay Ridge earlier this year (Q1). Before proclaiming that the sky is falling, no, Bay Ridge isn't being bowled over by hipsterification any time soon. There is a dearth of coffee here so there really is no comparing The Coffee Lab with anything else. DD and Sbux don't count. Truth be told, The Coffee Lab's brew offering of Toby's Estate (from Billyburg) can go toe-to-toe with anything Gregory's, Grumpy, Blue Bottle, and Intelligentsia can dish out... and that's saying a lot for Don and Dora's small business, who like many others, dispatched their day jobs to pursue their dreams. I'm not saying this to be nice or make outlandish claims. They don't proclaim to do more than what they specialize in, but they excel at what they do, and that in itself is endearing. I had the Nutella Latte ($5) and it was fantabulous! They're also host to macarons from Macaron Parlour but I'd like to see more... (My wish is for cupcakes and other goodies from Robicelli's!) The bottom line is if the Starbucks, Dunkin' or the numerous Italian cafés don't do it for you, this is where you'd park your gluteus maximus and fire up your laptop. read more

A great spot to sip-n-chat . Extremely nice service & spotless place! -- like seriously clean ( yes the restroom too). The set up is a little different, there are long tables that seat 8-10 so you share with other customers. Only a few smaller tables. What I love about this place is off to the side they have magazines and newspapers . You can stay as long as you want and just browse the selection or do some work on your laptop. Free wifi- password protected tho;p I ordered the Pomegranate Ice Tea( $2.75) which came in a tall chilled glass and later had a cappuccino($3--something). I was surprised with the cappuccino, better then I expected. I came too late to try a nutella waffle ( they stop serving after 6pm) but I know I'll be back . They specialize in all sorts of fancy lattes, which are mostly too sweet for me (as is the hot chocolate). But the espresso itself is good! They have a delicious avocado toast which is your best vegetarian option here. A bit privy for what it is, but the garlic oil is a delicious touch. At least the soy milk is only 50c extra! read more

Came here with a girlfriend to caffeinated ourselves on a Sunday morning. The coffee is pretty mediocre and the rose latte tastes way too artificial and sweet. The place is cute and hipster with lots of tables for studying/getting some work done. There's also a small patio in the back with some seating on nice days. Service is fine. There is only one bathroom, which can be problematic. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but it's a nice option for a place to meet a friend or get some work done. read more

Coffee Rx is definitely the best cafe in Bay Ridge to study/work at. 1) it is significantly quieter than many other cafes in the neighborhood (aka Starbucks). I like that although they play music here, it is not obnoxiously loud that you can hear it through your headphones. Also, I am very appreciative of the fact that most people that are here are also studying, reading or working, so it is relatively quiet. 2) Large tables, numerous outlets for your electronics, and fast wifi. 3) NUTELLA LATTE. It is SO good. It's like the perfect balance of Nutella and espresso. However, at $5-6 for a drink, it is a little heavy on your wallet. Also, I noticed on weekends, it does get a bit crowded and it is hard to find a seat especially during the middle of the day. read more

The lavender iced tea was a little on the sweet side. My wife had to add a little water to her iced tea and it was ok. The prosciutto mozzarella white bread was a good portion and it comes with a side salad. Tasted fresh good amount of prosciutto and mozzarella in it. The waffles came with plentiful of bananas and nutella spread. The waffle was thick and fluffy. A tiny bit on the sweet side but still good. Overall, everything was good quality. Friendly service. I was extremely fortunate to find this beauty of a cafe in Brooklyn one Saturday afternoon. As far as cafes go, I haven't tried many in BK but if any of them are half as good as Coffee Lab, well I'm going to find myself in the borough way more often! This is a wonderful starbucks alternative, nay - it is on it's own level of creative atmosphere conducive to productivity via space and coffee. It's low key, trendy, popular, but not too popular that you can't go anymore because its too crowded- no it's a very well situated space, with cordial people, good music, strong wi-fi, good coffee, interesting food...I could go on. I'm just appreciative that in my time of need (to complete some work-related tasks) Coffee Lab was right there to the rescue, allowing me a haven to peacefully, without interruption from city noise - complete what I needed to do. The cappuccino I ordered was great, sandwich too - wow was there a lot of fresh moz. in it - don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it! Prosciutto too! Stopped by to try their infamous nutella monster drink and it was as amazing as everyone says!!!! Literally tasted like iced cold ferrero rocher (the chocolate candy) mixed in a drink! Soooo refreshing and great for chocolate/nutella lovers! The sandwiches on the other end is a tad bit overpriced IMO. Gf got the avocado toast and i had the proscuitto w mozz sandwich. The avoc toast cost $8.00! It was literally one slide of toast with avocados mashed ontop. My sandwich on the other hand came w a small thing of spinach salad, and sandwich was cut in half. It was okay BUT the person who prepped it probably didnt realize the plastic wrapper that wraps the proscuitto so i chewed into it. I did picked the plastic out and then later told the staff abt it. He was apologetic and i think it was really an honest mistake.. but hopefully theyll be more careful nxt time they make the sandwich! Been here a several times already and their coffee is always on point. I usually order the iced americano, which is really good compared to many other places, but today I changed it up and decided to try the iced cortado. It was described to me as a shorter latte, meaning it would be stronger with less milk. So good. It was nutty, smooth, and creamy. Really good and I'm enjoying it right now. Depending on my mood next time I might have to ask if I can get it in a larger size. Update: Went back and did ask if they offered the iced cortado in a larger size but unfortunately the answer was no. The proportions would be off and it wouldn't taste exactly the way it was meant to be. I respect the way that they want every cup to taste just right, so much so that I was barely disappointed I couldn't have this deliciousness in larger quantities. So on my first visit, I tried the nutella frappe thing and it was the most amazing drink I ever had. Though they didn't have lactaid, the baristas were very accommodating in trying to help out this lactose intolerant sistah. At the end, I opted for the milk but this rink was ooo so good.
