I had my usual fare, a hot coffee and a cheese pastry. My friend had a mint tea with her cheese pastry. The pastry was quite good crispy on the outside and soft inside and my black coffee was a perfect good morning pick me up. Also, I particularly like how the coffee place had clear glass facing the street so I can people watch as I sip my morning coffee. :)

I think the prices are reasonable, and they have a nice selection of coffees, teas, and yes, even various hot chocolates. After a while only few that stands out. The concept for this place stand out to me. It is a coffee bar with a PR firm attached to it. The office space is located on the basement level of this cafe. The design and the decor are very trendy and clean. It is simple and classy. With the booming coffee culture in the Netherlands, I don't necessarily think this place stands out for its coffee. Nevertheless, they do have decently good coffee imported from an Italian roaster. I personally prefer some of the local 3rd wave coffee Dutch roasters (such as Lot 61, Man met Bril, Blommers among others). The service is friendly and it seems that many Amsterdam locals visit this place regularly. I can see myself bringing my computer to work. It is chill and the place looks great when the sun isn't hiding. :-) I would definitely come back another day to just chill and bring my laptop to do some work here. There's plenty of daylight coming in from the big glass windows. It got healthy, fresh juice options for non coffee drinker. Overall, I was quite impressed. I myself was considering open a coffee house with an attached film production/ advertising company. This place has proven me that the set up could work. Either way, she was very nice and chatty and proceeded to make me a latte (3 Euros) with love and care. My idea of being a vegan has been thrown out the window since I arrived here. The coffee beans could use a bit of work, but otherwise, no complaints. This is definitely a nice spot to sit and have a cuppa while chatting with other people. I loved how cute the coffee shop was with ground floor hang out zones, a first floor hang out zones, along with an outdoor hang out zones. I also loved how ordering was done at the table using a QR code. The no laptops rule was special too, encouraging chatter or just hanging out! Staff were super sweet and the coffee was excellent! Super smooth espresso and fantastic foam on my cappuccino!

I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. First of all, the service/the owner was up his game in a very attentive and polite way, at the same time very laid back chill kinda way. Love that about a place as much as I love my good cappuccino. We ordered one cappuccino and one latte, 2 sweets: pear chocolate cake and fruit passion pastry. The cappuccino is really good, so they have my blessing from now on. Also the sweets were good, I didn't enjoyed that much my pear chocolate cake and I went and took another fruit passion pastry and the guy was sorry I didn't like it, so nice :) And this is one big coffee place, very chill sfeer, not your usual small crowded hipster coffee place. And it's pretty close from Vondel Park :) You will be seeing more of me and my friends there, I always take my friends in the places I love.
