In the display case, the carrot cake color was a dark red Amber, definitely not a normal carrot cake color. The taste is strong in lemon and very disappointing, not as moist, dry ingredients. I will never order it again.

2014 Update: Necado still makes the best espresso drinks in town. -can't seem to leave this place…read morehaving had just one bevvie. I am a glutton for goodness. Necado is a good-looking little place with a good-natured bloke behind the bar. A 'necado', by the way, is a hot cocoa with a shot of espresso in it. Mmmm. My partner and I ordered two capps (that drank like flat whites) and found them to be tasty. The richness of the milk almost overpowered the flavor of the espresso, but didn't dampen my experience of the drink. Necado is almost more of a steh-cafe in that there is only room for a few window seats and a few tall tables sans chairs. The place is modern with clean lines and not a lot of fuss. We dug it. Necado both sells and uses beans from JB, a local roastery, behind the bar. Check 'em out: http://jbkaffee.de/index2.php What most impressed me was that everyone who came in for an espresso drink seemed happy to be there, happy to have a quick chat with the coffee dude, and happy to have a well-made beverage. The vibe in the shop was friendly and relaxed. Had I not been leaving the next day for all parts Swiss, then I would have taken coffee guys's recommendations for other local, coffee joints in the area that he felt were worth their salt. May there be a next time!

I have had a lot of coffee around the place and, I still find the coffee here better and made so well, each and every time. In Schwabing this would be one of my favourite places to hang out, have a chat and sip consistently excellent coffee. In a suburb full of machine coffee at places, that is consistently average, this is a standout. It's a small local business that is all about coffee and, the line up most days in the morning and afternoon should, give you a good indication of the popularity of this place. When I first discovered this place a year ago it was not as busy as it is now. I always see so many of the same people coming back again and again. As always I will continue to stop by each morning if the keep serving up such good coffee :-))

Besides coffee,…read morelattes, and tees, they also offer sandwiches, salads, muffins, fruit portions, and a lunch menu. Everything is fresh and tasty. The service is fast and they always ask if you want your sandwich warm/toasted. The staff is also super friendly. I find there the ideal place for a quick lunch/snack. There are sitting places inside, but when the weather is nice you can enjoy your coffee or lunch at the tables outside. The price right for the great quality, size, variety, and freshness of what they offer. For instance, the sandwiches are reasonably big in size and with a lot of filling, and there are several sorts of bread/fillings combinations from which one can choose. It can get a bit crowded at noon, but it is well worth the little wait time. I am a happy customer! :-)

They propose a wide range of salads. I also try their daily offers for different pasta, they were good but not exceptional. The muffins are also good and come with several tastes as well as the ice cream(not home made though) in summer. Now the counter part: I had once a good smoothy but then it has gotten worse, I even had to through away the last one that tasted very bad. In addition the kitchen seems really dirty sometimes. The place tend to be crowded at lunch and the time waiting can get really long. So I recommend only getting a sarni and you are gonna be alright.

It is open on Sundays!…read more There, now that we have that out of the way...I visited this San Francisco Coffee Company on a bright, sunny Sunday afternoon. Whilst just about everything else in Munich is closed Sundays, this is very open and many winter-fuffled folks were lazing about reading their papers, drinking espresso, warming up from the cold. My Munich guide, Robin W, tells me that this company is actually based in Munich. So while it would seem it is an American outpost, indeed it is not. It is tailored to Germans, but does resemble heavily a Starbucks or something of the like. Fairly corporate in nature. Many tables and chairs as well for working, sitting, or chatting. There was only one girl working, and the line did get long at times. It is not the fastest service because of this, but she did a good job hustling and trying to make everyone happy. Some odd things... *The "happy holidays" mugs still on display at full price. Do they not do clearance in Germany to rid the stores of outdated merchandise? This seemed strange. *I bought a travel mug (I was desperate for a larger mug at my apartment) and it was $11.50 euro. I then wanted the tea in it and she charged me for a large, even though really...it is just hot water and one tea bag, plus I have my own cup. It just seemed strange to me, as it is basically $3euro for a bunch of hot water. A good place to warm up. The double espresso machiatto was quite good as well. *very convenient to the Sbahn Laim stop.

Me: YES. -- Robin is full of good ideas, this being a particularly good one on a gray day post lunch. We popped into Unopiu, near the taxi circle at Goetheplatz for a caffeinated pick-me-up. It is a small little entryway with a bright "Illy" awing, but the size inside is comfortable. Several tables in the back, seats at a long counter along the window. Many people munching on much lighter lunches than my own (noted!), small sandwiches, etc. I will be back for my own, better portioned lunch! Double espresso served with a water. Hydrate. Caffeinate. We are on our way. The owners are Italian (evidenced and based only on what Robin told me of the man's Italian German accent), and they serve Illy, which many are familiar with. *If you do not have cash, there is a bank just across the way.
