The young boy who brought the teas (I hear this is a family-run business) was trying to very careful not to mix them up. But the funny thing was, he totally mixed the tea up! LOL. We didn't realize until half way through... I thought the House Blend tea tasted so much like Earl Grey. For lunch, we had Ham, Cheese & Chutney Sandwich and Eggs Benedict. They were both tasty, nice portion, and filling. Our friend went with something healthier, and ordered one of their vegan sandwiches. It is nice to have that option if you want or need vegan dish. We had a nice quick lunch here. It was adorable and cozy. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I think the sweets might be better than the actual food...I will never know, unless I go back! The name refers to their proposed connection between coffee and wine, both of which they specialise in. They recommend pairings of coffees and particular wines to try. I think they might have a hard time convincing us of this as the two don't seem like natural companions; but if I'd been in town for a bit longer I might have taken them up on the offer and enhanced my education. I love the layout and the way everything is informatively labelled, and the staff are keen to tell you about the varieties of coffee on offer. I confess I was more interested in a brunch snack at that point, and settled for one of the specials, avocado with red onion on sourdough toast - what a taste sensation! I'd never tried avocado on toast before, but it works really well. With a good strong Long Black on the side, I was content to sit and try and puzzle out the cryptogram on the wall depicting the relationships between coffee and wine with a variety of arrows connecting different letters. Get inside and the first thing you see are two wooden swings (yes swings) with a really nice chill-out windowsill with cushions to sit on. I'm actually sat on the windowsill as a type this and it's a really nice place to be! Much like the outside, the decor inside Playground is different to many other coffee shops close by; refreshingly different. There's lots of colour, swings and a few board games. It feels much more relaxing than your average chip board heavy coffee shop. The coffee itself is really good. I went for the house flat white which was quite sweet and really moreish.
