When you first walk in you find yourself in a fairly classy gift shop. They sell jewellery, picture frames, toiletries etc which appear to be decent quality although I'm not really an expert on such things so don't take my word on this. Turn a sharp left however and you find yourself in the tearoom. It's quite old fashioned which fits in well in Rhos-on-Sea. The tables and chairs are old and wooden and whilst not particularly comfortable they add to the authenticity. Seating along one side of the room is provided by what looks very much like an old church pew. The menu is very much traditional 'British'. There was a specials menu including cod, scampi, gammon etc all served with chips. In addition there are a selction of sandwiches, baked potatos, salads and toasties. There's also traditional afternoon tea if you're in the mood. The prices seemed a little expensive to me. Most of the baked potatos were £5.50 and two hours before going there I'd bought a pack of four in Morrisons for 50p. Admittedly the Morrison's ones weren't cooked or filled. However I suspect that the prices are probably in line with other similar establishments in the area. I opted for the all day breakfast comprising two sausages, two rashers of bacon, egg, beans, tomato and toast which if I remember correctly cost £4.75. The portions were generous and the sausage and bacon looked like they had come from the butchers rather than the supermarket freezer. All in all it was very good quality and I had no complaints. Service was efficient and quick although the tearoom wasn't very busy on the day. So if you find yourself in Rhos-on-Sea and you're feeling a bit peckish you could do worse than searching out La Reina.

There's a limited number of tables, all with artfully quirky mismatched wooden chairs and at either end are sofas for those who want the Central Perk vibe. Foodwise the choice is very limited, basically it's soup of the day, toast or one of four sandwiches or four ciabattas. Actually this is no bad thing, I've seen enough episodes of Kitchen Nightmares on which Gordon Ramsey has taken chefs to task for over elaborate menus and clearly the Glass Lounge philosophy is it stick to what they're good at. When my wife and I visited we decided to order a different ciabatta each and share them between us (they came cut into two which helped). The two we went for chorizo, goats cheese and sun-blushed tomatoes and bacon, brie and cranberry were both excellent. A decent size, plenty of filling, quality ingredients and toasted just enough to make the cheese gooey without being lava hot. They came served with a small side salad and some tasty coleslaw. The choice of drinks is much wider than the food with a range of hot drinks, smoothies, milk shakes and soft drinks. My Americano was very good. It isn't all that cheap (for Colwyn Bay at least) and two sandwiches, a coffee and a tea came in at just over twelve quid, but the food was top drawer. This is somewhere I'd visit again for a treat but I couldn't afford on a regular basis.

"Dave's Chippy" used to be the place to go for fish & chips, then it was run by "Tony & Eve" who really lowered the standards. Now a young couple have taken over, and "Barton's" DO provide traditional Fish & Chips, plus a lot more. The Traditional chippy still exists, and the quality is the same that we had before this young couple were even born! However they offer so much more than a "Traditional Chippy". Their Chicken Curry is unbelievably good. Unbelievably good value too. The cafe is often full of regulars too (they often recommend the breakfasts) - so that in itself suggests that this place is doing every thing right. Glad to see this place is getting better every day - great "Nautical Theme" in the cafe.
