Cody's Tree Service removed three trees from our property at 1201 Emerald Bay Rd and did an outstanding job. Great communication for scheduling. The crew was careful around the adjacent restaurant that was open for business--aware of customers and never disruptive. Cleanup was thorough, and they cared enough to follow up about how the site was left and whether we had any feedback or concerns. Professional and easy to work with. Highly recommend. read more

Cody's crew took down several tough trees, that were adjacent to the house. They were fast and professional, using zip lines, a crane, and other machinery. I recommend them. read more

Highly Recommended. We had Cody's Tree Service remove 5 large trees, which were very close to the house. They arrived right on time, were very professional and completed the job easily. Outstanding! Bought a cord of wood that was delivered and seasoned as expected. Will use next year!

I have worked with Cody's over many years. They helped me with my vacant lot that was congested with tall pines. Frank always communicates well with me on proper tree spacing for good forest health, fire safety, and which trees pose a problem. He always explains what to look for in healthy trees, and I appreciate his knowledge. The tree crew is very professional and they work safely. I have found the bids are not only prompt, but fair. I trust Cody's because you can't put a price on safety. Thank you guys so much for helping me! read more

We had a tree scraping the roof and sides of the house. We wanted to prep for windy conditions but also make sure the tree stayed healthy and didn't look chopped. Cody's was both great and actually responsive and quick. They did an amazing job of assessing the situation and trimming back the canopy in a way that puts in a fire gap, protects the roof, and barely looks altered from most angles. Our neighbors even came out to say how good of a job they'd done, and how quickly they'd done it. Full safety gear - harnesses, helmets, and all. (I'm a stickler for safety.) Limbs harnessed for a safe drop as well. Suffice to say, I am very pleased with Cody's Tree Service services and recommend them heartily. read more

I have used Cody's tree service on several occasions over the last 15 years. His crew is professional and very easy to work with. They've taken out more than 20 trees on my property without any issue. His team works hard to complete the job and they do a great job cleaning up. I also love that his team is local as they are able to respond quickly when there's an urgent concern. read more

We have used Cody's Tree Service almost since the day Frank Cody started the company. He has been fair and honest in every dealing we have had with him and has built a company of people who care as much about the work as he does. The job is done as promised and the clean-up is always professional. He knows the laws and liabilities and is able to work with the local government and fire departments with efficiency. Can't imagine using anyone else. read more

I recently had Cody's Tree Service take down a number of medium to small trees on my property. I couldn't be happier. Frank was great to work with, punctual, detail oriented, very communicative, and just plain easy to work with on all fronts. AND THE PRICE CAN'T BE BEAT. They showed up on time for a quick estimate, gave a detailed description in email of what they'd work on, texted to confirm everything, and left our yard clean without trash and wood chips exactly where I asked them to leave them. I love when I find a service like this in Lake Tahoe, AND THE PRICE CAN'T BE BEAT! Frank Cody runs a tight ship without unnecessary overhead, and doesn't show up with too many trucks and workers like every job needs an army. He can handle any size job, he just doesn't oversell himself with unnecessary machinery or ineffective big teams just because it looks more impressive from the street. Humble and honest! read more

TIMBER! We needed a couple of dying trees to be chopped down and some other trees trimmed too. Cody's took care of everything from acquiring the permits to hauling them away. Reasonable prices, efficient and professional service. Highly recommend Cody's for your tree needs. read more

I happened to catch Frank as he was out estimating some complicated tree work for a couple of my neighbors. Their jobs involved a crane and some pretty significant trimming high up in large pines. (They were both very satisfied with how things turned out.) We also had a larger pine that had a number of large limbs overhanging the street that needed to be removed. Frank worked us in the same day he did the other folks. Did a great job, quick and clean, for a very fair price! We're extremely satisfied, and will absolutely use him again if needed - highly recommend him and his crew! read more

I've used Cody's Tree Service on a number of occasions and every time, they've been quick to respond to my requests, booked an appointment for a few days later, cut down the tree and cleaned up everything quickly and effectively. They were in and out and the entire process went smoothly! read more

The most respectful and polite contractor I have interacted with in Tahoe since moving here. Unlike many others, he has excellent communication skills. When he says he will call or give you an update, he does. He honors his appointment times. Not to mention the great work and professionalism of his crews. Cody's tree service deserves a 5-star rating! read more

Fast, knowledgeable, kind, and an amazing deal. We had a tree that fell while we were out of town. It was relatively close to a wire, but ended up falling into the tree across our driveway. Still a major safety hazard. Between having to walk under it to use the drive way to get to the front door, and the fear of it hitting a wire and exploding the power lines, causing a forest fire. I called multiple tree services, looking for quotes and how quickly they could come out. Cody was the first on the scene. He gave me the quote which was easily the most reasonable and cheapest out of all the estimates I had received after he had left. I called him to confirm that we wanted to move forward. No joke, within 5 minutes of my call, two climbers arrived at our house. I thought they were another company coming to do an estimate. So, I was shocked when I met them at the driveway and they said they were from Cody's coming to remove the tree. Despite it being a tricky, complex, and potentially dangerous situation, they got the tree down in under 20 minutes. They said someone would come by the next day for the wood removal. But in another surprising move, they arrived 45 minutes later to remove the wood. Amazing service. Those climbers are so talented! Cody was so kind and understanding. The three people that came to help us explained everything so well. They also pointed out other trees to watch in the future. Honestly, it is one of the best companies we have ever hired in South Lake Tahoe. We will be calling them again! Thank you so much! read more

Frank Cody and his crew are consummate professionals. Polite, respectful, diligent, and most importantly, HIGHLY skilled. I have had them remove three challenging trees over the years at a fair price. They show up on time, which is a rarity in Tahoe, and get things done in an organized and thoughtful manner. I truly appreciate the attention that they paid to clean up and ensuring that nothing was damaged on my property. To be on the safe side, they even dismantled a ski lift chair that I have in the yard and then reassembled it at the end of the job. I will never have any other tree service on my property. Great job Frank and crew! read more

The whole Cody team is fantastic. We had four trees we needed taken out. Frank gave us a quote and was luckily able to fit us in quickly. The team was so organized and professional the day of removal. I have to be honest, it's pretty amazing to watch them work. Trees were out in half a day and they helped coordinate for stump grinding too. Even their cleanup was top notch. Highly recommend Cody's. read more

Cody's Tree Service - Tree Services Near Me - South Lake Tahoe, California

We called for someone to come out and give us an estimate to have some trees removed. We do not live in the area and are not familiar with the process. The guy that came out was so rude. He told us we had to have the trees permitted. He then continued to tell us that he wouldn't give us an estimate until we spent the money to get the permit so that he knew we were serious about getting the work done. What an asshole, who says that to a potential customer!! read more

We recently had Cody's Tree Service out to do extensive tree limbing and removal for defensive space measures on our heavily wooded property. Ryan K, Thor, Zack, James & Griffin were a dream team of competent, friendly and knowledgeable professionals who did the job meticulously like a well oiled machine. We were in awe watching them do their job with precision and teamwork. Highly recommend this company for large or smaller jobs. read more

I had a tree I needed cut down. I got a few different estimates and Cody's Tree service was not only the best price, but the best customer service. Frank called me to talk about the work that needed to be done. Frank noticed another tree leaning that wasn't currently a problem, but could be in the future. One of the other companies mentioned this second tree in a quote, but we never had a conversation. Frank give me the pros and cons of cutting the second tree and after a few minutes, it's was obvious the second tree needed to come down. The price of the second tree also made it a no brainer. Frank walked me through the permit process and ensured I was in good hands when talking about cutting the trees. Once cut day came, Frank called me to give me a last minute boast of confidence. 2 climbers climbed up the tree over 50 feet in the air and did their magic. A few hours later they were done and cleaned up the tree dust. Franks Stump gridding came and grinder my stumps. Now you would never know where the 2 trees were once standing. Cody's Tree service was absolutely amazing to work with. His customer service was the best part. He made himself available by call or text and I knew he was going to get back to me when he had a moment. Highly recommend Cody's Tree Service to anyone looking to get some trees down. Thank you Cody's Tree Service for a wonderful job! read more

Frank Cody is prompt and professional. He was at my house giving me a bid 2 days after I called and had the dead tree in my backyard removed within a week. Cody's provided an estimate within a couple of days and worked us into their schedule before winter. The crew did an amazing job in removing a tree, dead wooding multiple trees and cleaning up. They did a much better job than the company we used previously. Would highly recommend! read more

My experience (note I didn't need a crane) - Frank came out in the morning and put a bid on a 50+ foot dead fir on my lot. I accepted the bid same day and within 3 hours a crew was out. They took down the tree in about an hour flat and cleaned up. Top notch in my book! read more

Cody's tree service was asked to fell 3 trees & give a price to cut up the trees into rounds that I could split for firewood. The estimator came out & priced out the felling of 3 trees for $600. He stated they would yield between 2-3 cords of firewood. To cut the woods into rounds would be $1350 for a total of $1950. The crew of 3 arrived at 12:45. 1 large tree and 2 small trees were felled on a sloped lot by 1:45pm. 1 man left with the chipper truck who "had to be elsewhere" before chipping any limbs. 2 men were left to cut the 3 trees into rounds. 1 man used a chainsaw on a flat lot and 1 man helped me carry the rounds 20-30 feet to the roadside. In 50 minutes they were finished. This was just under 2 additional man hours of work. the rounds which I split yielded (1) cord of wood, not 2-3. My neighbor stated $1350 to cut up 1 cord of wood into rounds was certainly a mistake. The total must be $950.( $350 more after felling the trees) I asked the 2 remaining crew who seemed puzzled. They gave me Mr Cody's cell number and asked me to call him. Mr. Cody said that he expected $1950. He stated felling the 3 trees on the slope had lots of liability. I agreed and that's why $600 seemed reasonable for that. I stated cutting 1 cord of wood into rounds for an additional $1350 seemed wrong to me. Mr. Cody stated that operating a chainsaw also had liability though he admitted it was less than felling trees. When asked about the price disparity 3 man hours to fell trees, more liability $600 vs 2 man hours (1 chainsaw 1 carrying wood) $1350 he stated it was a $1200 chainsaw and he expected $1950 It gets worse. I asked if he would make up the wood disparity by allowing me an additional cord of rounds from his facility which I would gladly pick up. Mr Cody said I could buy the missing cord from him. I paid him $1950. I only met 1 other man in business like Frank Cody. He was selling $1000 generators for $4000 during a hurricane in Florida. Readers can judge for themselves. I look forward to Mr. Cody's yelp response. Glenn Wolfson MD Zephyr Cove , Nv read more

We would like to thank you for sending two very professional, conscientious, and extremely nice young men to remove the dying branches from our 300-year-old Jeffrey Pine. We were mesmerized and thoroughly impressed as we watched the process because of the safety measures they took, how they thought out the process, and the teamwork between the two men. Quick to respond, knowledgeable, careful, considerate, reasonable--Cody's was the best!

Cody's Tree Service is fantastic. We recently had them remove and trim a number of trees at our house in Incline Village to improve our defensible space and they did really, really good work. The crew was very friendly and worked very hard on our job. Their estimate was fair and the quality of the work was great. The customer service and follow-up on a few last requests was excellent. This guy is the real deal, called him up he was direct and honest his crew was coming in for the day he needed room for his trucks I was persistent about getting wood and he made time for me. Anyone else would've said come back tomorrow. 5 stars for his attitude. Thanks again!! I never leave comments but well deserved for this small business owner. read more

I was in need of some large pieces of non-structural timber to make a few custom fireplace mantles. I didn't think we had a business in town that had a sawmill, so I figured I would start calling all the tree removal services and see what they had to say. When I got to Cody's Tree Service listing, I kind of expected the same information I received from the others which was, Nope can't help you, Bye. The phone was answered by a man named Frank (owner) and I could immediately tell that Frank knew what customer service was all about. I explained that I needed some rough cut 12" x 12" X 6' beams and I think he said jokingly, "Is that it". I just spent an hour on the computer and phone getting "NO" at every turn, so I was a little shocked at the answer. It was easy to find right across the street from the Airport on Hwy 50. Just look for the over-sized "People Shrinker" chair facing the highway. And when entering, there is a sign that says Stop, Call (530) 541-8733 first", I assume just in case they are out on a job. But I have no doubt that Frank would get there as soon as possible to help you out. And as soon as I pulled in, Frank greeted me and then showed me the stack of mostly Jeffery Pine that he had run through the mill earlier, but I needed a dimension that would require that "Tree Shrinker" saw of his to accomplish. I was shown wood that was cut so thin you could see through it, as well as a few pieces that nearly maxed out the saws 24" cutting thickness. Since I was not 100% set on my dimensions though, Frank gave me his card and cell number and promised to get back with him in the next day with what I needed. Over the next couple days, every text I sent was promptly answered and once I gave him the exact dimensions, he must have put that saw to work, because the next text, was that my wood was ready to pick up, and the best part was the price. I have no doubt Frank Cody and Cody's Tree Service will have a long lasting business here in South Lake Tahoe with his happy to help attitude. I would have no problem sending my 80 year old grand-mother out there to talk with him about removing trees our buying one of the custom built picnic benches that he made and had for sale. And I would know that she would be well taken care of instead of taken advantage of. So with that, Thanks so much Frank Cody. It was a 10/10 experience. read more

Fantastic! (1) Great customer service, which is appreciated in super-flaky South Lake Tahoe. I love Tahoe, but am continually amazed at the number of businesses here that apparently function without customers, since they're impossible to reach. Frank Cody actually ANSWERS THE PHONE, fits your appointment in quickly, and shows up when he says he will! Hallelujah! (2) Great price. Got three quotes, and Cody's was hundreds less than the next one and less than half of the highest one. (3) Great job! A team of about six guys (all nice, polite and professional) showed up ON TIME and tackled the job of removing and/or limbing 9 trees in about an hour or so. They left the place and trees looking clean and spiffy, even sweeping the driveway. They took out an additional small tree for free, and bucked up the trunks we kept for firewood. Yes, yes, yes to Cody's! read more

We used Mr. Cody's tree service to have on of our trees on our property removed. Got the permit with TRPA and then called Cody's to get a quote.
