So Cody Kelly is a big park but watch your dogs. I took my large standard poodles there and he shattered his leg because people don't fill in holes. Also people just don't watch their dogs. Pick up after your pet! Kick the dirt back in the hole. He had to undergo surgery because this place is s**t. I should sue visalia or whoever manages this place. read more

Cody Kelly Bark Park is a very nice dog park conveniently located off Highway 198 at Plaza Drive (in with the Plaza Park across from pond) in Visalia, CA. It has a small dog section (25 lbs or less), and an "all dog" section. The "all dog" section has water in it, the small dog section has no water plumbed into it. What I like about it: Nice people and dogs, easy parking, lots of grass, plenty of shade, benches cemented in, plastic chairs in the park, 8 foot fences on the outside of the dog park. My dog liked it, too. What I do not like about it: No water in the small dog section. Small dog owners have to go through the SINGLE gate in the small dog area, walk to the other side in the "all dog area" and get water. Due to this, small dogs have old water standing in the bowls. (dog owners should not carry a small dog into a larger dog section lest the large dogs view the small dog as a toy). Water should get plumbed in, and the single gate should be chained shut permanently. If not that? Then make it a proper double-gate. Overall? Excellent job, Visalia. What a great find. We drove a couple of hours each way to check the park out and give our dog a new space to play for awhile. We met some really nice people here. The park is large, dusty, some parts grassier than others but overall, it was perfect for her to run around and play ball with us. There are even lights that come on around dusk so even people with not-so-normal schedules can come and let their dogs exercise later in the day. There is a small dog area and a larger dog area but little dogs, even teacup Yorkies were strutting around the big play area off leash with their brave owners. We were there awhile and only witnessed one lax owner that would not act fast enough (at all, really) when his huge dog starting pinning other ones down on the ground by the throat. Not good but eventually he took the hint and left. Happens everywhere, not nice to see. For the most part, it appeared that people were picking up after their pups and minding them well. One thing would be to watch your footing. There are too many holes made by critters and dug up by dogs so be careful not to twist your ankle! Easy to find, right off the highway. Would return for sure. We had one exhausted, passed out pup for the ride home which told us we did the right thing in bringing her here! read more

There is a reason that children under 10 years old are NOT allowed in either side of the dog park. The prohibition is posted on the signs at each gate, but there are those who ignore the rules. My dog wasn't able to have a visit the other day because upon our arrival, there were three children in the dog park with no adult with them. Only one looked to be 10 years old; the other two looked seven and six maybe. I asked them where their parents were and a man who was on the other side from where the children were, claimed them. I reminded him that no one under ten allowed. His response: Why's that? I told him that the rule is per the posted sign. He said, "Well, they're with me, so they're staying." In other words, he doesn't need to obey any rules. I leashed up my dog and left because 1) I don't want to expose myself to the liability; 2) I obey the rules. Dogs aren't allowed on the children's play structure, and I respect that rule, keeping my dog out of the playground. See how it's supposed to work? My dog missed his daily run and play in the dog park because someone made the unilateral decision that his kids have a greater right to be in the dog park than any ole dog! read more

We visited the dog park for the first time yesterday evening and there were quite a few people there. I was happy to see that there was a small dog and large dog section. We brought our puppy to the small dog section and there were a few other small dogs running around for her to play with. The other dog owners around seemed friendly as well. There were quite a few large dogs on the other side and everyone seemed to be getting along well. Most people were quick to call their dogs off if they were getting to playful. It's very generous of the park to provide water and bags to pick up after your dog. Not too long after we arrived two older women bring in their dogs, who were definitely larger than 25 lbs. 25lbs is the limit for the small dog section and these dogs, in my opinion, should have been on the larger dog side. One of the women tried to tell my boyfriend that our puppy was too young to be there. The other woman with her also told two kids that were with an adult that they weren't allowed to be there. There is sign posted about no kids under 10. The adult that they were with said that they were 10. I thought they were well behaved and they asked to politely asked to pet our puppy. To top it off, the same lady nagging the kids starts telling her poodle to attack another dog after it ganged up on another smaller dog. We decided it was best to leave after all of that. I think the dog park as a whole is very nice and hopefully it was just a one time incident with those two rude pet owners. We plan on returning but at a different time of day as to hopefully not run into these same issues. read more

The people here are very nice and I love how trained their dogs are but now when I just went the other day I was in the bigger dog area because I have a big dog now a lady came in with a smaller dog like a 8 pound dog and it kept just bothering my dog making it difficult for my dog to play with others and she kept pulling on my dogs hair now I had only been there for about 10 to 15 min before she showed and I pretty much had to leave cuz she knew the people that were there now I think that isn't fair for other dog people because there at not a lot of dog parks around that have separate areas for different size dogs... I really hope I get to take my pup there with out this problem again read more

Great place to bring your dogs, has plenty of space for them to run around and play with other dogs. The dog park or bark park is divided into 2 parts one with 25lbs or less (small dogs) and the other is for larger dogs. Well some people think it's alright to bring their large size dogs into the small dog section. Had an issue with two older women not following the rules bringing their large aggressive dogs in the small dog section and encouraging them to attack another smaller dog. But they had no issue kicking out a family because their boys were younger than 10yrs. Other than that it was a a great trip. read more

I live about 30 mins away from this dog park but I make the drive because there are a lot of regulars and they are always friendly. They watch after their dogs and clean up after them. My dog enjoys the spacious area to run. The small dog side doesn't have as many benches to sit on but I just take my own chair. read more

My oldest dog loves this park! We love it too! It's a huge lot but it needs more grass, I understand we have a drought but it's okay! Also it needs more shady areas to sit at but again it's a good dog park! There are two seperate areas for small dogs and big dogs! Thus place has a pooper scooper and a few trashcans to throw the poops and a water fountain for the dogs but it's always dirty and I bring my own bowl and water for mine. But all parents for furkids know once you bring them to a dog park they dont even remember you because they do their own thing! read more

I love this park! I usually go in the evenings and I've never had a problem with a dog or their owners. There are separate sections for small and big breeds but I always go in the big breed section. The location is right off the freeway which is convenient. There is already a fountain and hose in the big dog park, but is it necessary to have 20 buckets inside? So, I started taking my big dog here in October of 2012. I go about 2-3 times a week if not more. The park is quite large and allows for dogs to run around fully from end to end without any distraction, except for other dogs. The dogs here can be very friendly but like any dog park, there are dogs that are more aggressive than others. There are dogs that seem to be rough but are nice once they are settled down. For instance, a terrier mix always full sprints to any new dog and probably scares the owners. He definitely scared me but he is pretty darn friendly.There are the usual dogs that show up all the time and these dogs are quite nice as well. The people here are quite friendly too. There are people cliques too but that's typical at long established dog parks. The park provides poop dispenser bags as well as plastic shopping bags, shovels and rakes. There is also a spilt area for small dogs too. So, if you are scared of the big dog side, there is a small dog area about 20x20 yards area too. read more

There are very few dog parks that I adore in the San Joaquin Valley. This is one. It's like a steak. Juicy. Tasty. Hot.

After living in the city for a couple months we decided to try out this dog park with our three girls and foster boy. We showed up around 6:30 in the morning and it already had a lot of dogs. The park is large with an additional small dog side which was nice. When we came up to the gate though we stayed out for five minutes until the small dog owners got their dogs to the small side which of course the owners appeared annoyed but with our 50+ lb dogs it was for their dogs safety. An older guy approached us and spoke about some of the regulars which was nice but the next person that came was an older lady (a regular) that showed up and was instantly complaining about our dogs breed and telling her dog "don't play with those pits" after her dog was just chasing them in fun. She more than once asked if they were my dogs which was very annoying. It's very unfortunate that people are still naive about breeds. Even though my dogs have a right to be able to play there we will not be back. If you're not above the age of 50 with old dogs I would probably stay away from this park. Gave it two stars only because of the size, cleanliness, and the nice man. read more
