My dogs shattered leg. The bone was sticking out. Cost me $8,000 to have fixed. That's cost before rehab.

So Cody Kelly is a big park but watch your dogs. I took my large standard poodles there and he shattered his leg because people don't fill in holes. Also people just don't watch their dogs. Pick up after your pet! Kick the dirt back in the hole. He had to undergo surgery because this place is s**t. I should sue visalia or whoever manages this place.

Great place to take your dogs. The people and the dogs are great. Of course, in the summer you need to go early in the day.

Cody Kelly Bark Park is a very nice dog park conveniently located off Highway 198 at Plaza Drive (in with the Plaza Park across from pond) in Visalia, CA. It has a small dog section (25 lbs or less), and an "all dog" section. The "all dog" section has water in it, the small dog section has no water plumbed into it. What I like about it: Nice people and dogs, easy parking, lots of grass, plenty of shade, benches cemented in, plastic chairs in the park, 8 foot fences on the outside of the dog park. My dog liked it, too. What I do not like about it: No water in the small dog section. Small dog owners have to go through the SINGLE gate in the small dog area, walk to the other side in the "all dog area" and get water. Due to this, small dogs have old water standing in the bowls. (dog owners should not carry a small dog into a larger dog section lest the large dogs view the small dog as a toy). Water should get plumbed in, and the single gate should be chained shut permanently. If not that? Then make it a proper double-gate. Overall? Excellent job, Visalia. Will be back if I am ever driving through again. -crazy puppy owner who has been to 26 dog parks since puppy came home

Loving her new chuck it ball!

What a great find. We drove a couple of hours each way to check the park out and give our dog a new space to play for awhile. We met some really nice people here. The park is large, dusty, some parts grassier than others but overall, it was perfect for her to run around and play ball with us. There are even lights that come on around dusk so even people with not-so-normal schedules can come and let their dogs exercise later in the day. There is a small dog area and a larger dog area but little dogs, even teacup Yorkies were strutting around the big play area off leash with their brave owners. We were there awhile and only witnessed one lax owner that would not act fast enough (at all, really) when his huge dog starting pinning other ones down on the ground by the throat. Not good but eventually he took the hint and left. Happens everywhere, not nice to see. For the most part, it appeared that people were picking up after their pups and minding them well. One thing would be to watch your footing. There are too many holes made by critters and dug up by dogs so be careful not to twist your ankle! Easy to find, right off the highway. Would return for sure. We had one exhausted, passed out pup for the ride home which told us we did the right thing in bringing her here!

There are very few dog parks that I adore in the San Joaquin Valley. This is one. It's like a steak. Juicy. Tasty. Hot.

There was one older man sitting on a bench enjoying the moderate weather, and another young man in his twenties rode his bike through the park, stopping at a fountain to refresh himself before riding on. There is plenty of grass beneath shady trees, though this time of year it is not at its greenest. There are cement walkways through the park which benches spaced along them at intervals for relaxing and enjoying the view. There are picnic tables scattered here and there around the glass, but no BBQ grills so you'll have to bring your own if you're planning a picnic. There is an octagonal pavilion on the Southern edge of the park that looks like the perfect place for summer concerts. Upon checking the website for the Tulare Parks and Recreation Department, it appears that they do hold a number of concerts in the park there each summer and even have family movie nights during which they project movies onto a 12' x 12' screen. It sounds like good wholesome fun! There are public restrooms which are very clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap, but the paper towel machine was empty. There is a sign on the doors stating that due to vandalism the doors to the restrooms are only unlocked between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm daily. I saw no evidence of vandalism there, so maybe that's solved their problems. There is no play equipment for children, but Zumwalt is a very restful spot for adults to hang out and enjoy our California weather and it becomes a lot more active in the summer with planned activities. Check out the planned activities at the link below for the Tulare Parks & Rec. Department. http://www.tulareparksandrec.com/community/adultservices.htm

I don't know how to even describe this park, maybe, magical... The sequoias are majestic with sugar…read morepines sprinkled all around. I was here with the Sisters Corp. to do some volunteer work. I did not want to miss the opportunity to give my time for this beautiful place. This is my first time to visit this National Park and I know now it will not be my last. My first day at the volunteer camp group site as we gathered at the table to meet each other and go over the agenda for the weekend we had the opportunity to see a black bear casually roam through our campground near the tents (one of them was mine). We were all informed prior to arriving not to leave any scented items in the tents. No one wonder the bear kept moving along, but with the help of our camp host shooing it away from the campground. This is something we learned from the rangers, is to shoo them away so they don't get in the habit of coming around. The park offers many hiking trails, I had the chance to do one of many, which was the Long Meadow Trail. Very beautiful, plenty of foliage and evidence of a bear in the area. Another part of the park I got to visit was General Sherman. There is a park ranger that will tell you the history of the General Sherman tree. You can wait in a long line to take a pic in front of the tree with a General Sherman sign. Or you can take a pic around the fenced majestic tree. I choose not to wait in line. I had the chance to shuttle to General Sherman tree from the Museum. The Shuttle is free and seems to come every 10-15 min. From General Sherman I also shuttled to the Lodgepole marketplace and visitor center. In this area are bathrooms with showers (coin operated, quarters). The Marketplace has an area to order some food and also a section where you can purchase some ice cream by the scoop. The store offers assorted ice cream bars. The visitor center offers gift items as well as the marketplace. At the front of the visitor center they had a ranger available at a booth if you had any questions. This place is quite busy! Parking lot is a madhouse. Nearby is a campground you may want to check out or ask the ranger for some info. If you can, arrive early, find parking at the Museum and shuttle to everything if you can. Warning, when I was doing volunteer work in the parking lot across from the museum we witnessed a black bear enjoying some berries in the bushes. I'm not sure if they will venture into the parking lot with a lot human activity going on but be careful what you leave in your car, anything and everything with a scent. The park has so much to see. I look forward to returning to volunteer and to take advantage of what the park has to offer.

Best national park I've ever been to and that's saying a lot…read more It's magical, and I highly recommend getting to the Sherman trailhead prior to 9:30am if you want a parking spot. Takes about an hour to get in there, up there and parked so plan accordingly. The congress trail was amazing and for a 3.5 mile hike it took about 2.5 hours with frequent stops for pictures. Highly recommend a stop at lodge pole for refreshments and merch. Incredible experience from start to finish.

5 Stars A Dog Lover's Dream in Fresno!…read more Between the dogs I've had over the last 10 years, this park has been a part of our weekly routine--and it's hands-down one of the best decisions I've made for my pups! The park is about 1.5 acres and separated into large and small dog areas, which makes for a safe and stress-free environment. There's a small agility course to mix things up, plenty of shade for those sunny days, and a pool with beach entry that's a MUST for cooling off in the Fresno heat! It's membership-only ($20/month, month-to-month--super easy) and totally worth it. The park is gated and locked, and members receive a key card for secure access. It's always clean, well-maintained, and never overcrowded. There are restrooms on-site too, which is a nice bonus for us humans. Dogs need to be neutered (if over 6 months), pass a quick temperament test, and be up to date on vaccinations. There's also a minimum age requirement, so definitely check their website for the full vaccine list, age rules, and how to apply. This place has brought so much joy, exercise, and social time to all of my dogs over the years. If you're a Fresno dog parent, don't wait--join today!
