My Son Loves going to camp here! My son really didn't want to go to summer camp. He loves Code Rev! This is his third year!

Signed up for one day of camp at the very last minute. My daughter was excited by the sample itinerary on the website, which included things like "outdoor games" and "pair and share." When I went to pick her up, the group (including the instructor) looked like zombies staring at their computers... no acknowledgement I was even there as I'm looking for my child in a sea of office chairs. I'm willing to take my daughter's claim that she didn't learn anything new and was told she could just "play in her Minecraft world" all day with a grain of salt, because there's probably more to it than that. But she did confirm that there was no outdoor play and that she sat in the same seat for five hours. Overall, she called it "boring." I give it a few stars because they kept my kid safe, but we won't be going back. read more

Horrible company and customer support. We signed up for a weekly summer camp online class, but never received the Zoom info to join. Upon emailing and asking them, the person replied that the class was postponed for 1 week because the instructor got Covid. Ok, that's fine, although we would appreciate this to be proactively communicated. Fast-forward one week to the day of the first class, and there's again no communication about it, whether it is indeed happening this week or postpone again. Emailed/called them several times with no responses. Very terrible customer support, and I am done chasing them. I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company. Compare to the quality they provided, the camp is not worth it at all! We have three parents registered this camp together and we all shared the same feeling we had the very dissatisfying camp experience here.1.The unfair pricing system. Early birds pay more fees than the Late Gators. We surprisingly found out three of us paid different amount for the same camp.Two early registrants paid $691/each (plus tax)while the latter one did $70 less. They did refund us the difference after we requested. However, we don't think most of the parents will have chance to find out the different price CodeRev charges for different kids. 2.Very unprofessional operation. It seems like they temporarily rent a room behind the front desk of a building. The sign and everything look temporary. All the kids have to stay in a same room to do all their stuffs . And the teacher is not ready until the substitute works till the third day.3. Mixing 6 grader with kids from much younger category in the same group. Feel sorry for my daughter she had to waste lots of time waiting for the much younger kids to catch up. Seemed they had two teachers working in the room. However, my kids told me sometimes the teacher was not sufficient to take care of all the kids and my daughter didn't get enough instructions as the teacher was too occupied and busy with younger kids and multiple programs.4. One of my friends complained the 30 mins recess is too long. 5.What kids learned doesn't match what they showed In the promo video. My son registered the Rev Robot because he thought he would be introduced how to use remote controller to control the robot as showed in the promo video. Unfortunately, by the end of the camp, he was told we had to pay for one more week to start the part of the remote controlling and they were not old enough to be instructed the content yet . My son was so disappointed as he didn't feel he learned as it showed in the video. I shared my feedback on the first and second day to the owner ,Evan and requested for the improvement or the refund. Unfortunately, I didn't see any improvement and he was not responsive except the substitute called with no solution. Anyway, I am writing this review on behalf of three moms who had dissatisfying experience with this camp. I feel bad for them as I recommended this one to them and persuaded them to join when they felt it was too pricy. If you have higher expectation for the camp at $691/ week, none of us recommend this one to you. We have been working with lots of camps before and we know how the professional one works. HORRIBLE!! I ordered a big $5,000 order (mega bots) from this company back in January and still have not received my order. It's now March! No communication at all, no acknowledgment, just take your money! This place is a scam. Please do not order anything, you will not receive your order. Rip off! This camp is hands down the best camp to cultivate early interest in coding and robotics. My 7 year old just finished spring break camp last week and didn't want to leave. He learned more in a day than a week at IDTech. While ID Tech felt like a big machine looking to move as many kids through as possible, CodeRev has a much more personal /cool tutor feel. The space is reminiscent of a tech startup with a room for the big kids and a larger room for the younger kids. There is a great balance of learning, social interaction and they even have a park across the street for some healthy exercise breaks throughout the day. We will absolutely be back as often as possible.x. read more

This place is SO fab.. my just-turned-7 year old has had an amazing time learning how to code. It's been a great experience for her and the instructors are amazing. My daughter has a great time at CodeRev ROBLOX & VR Camp in Pasadena. They are friendly, professional and their safety protocols are above standard. She wants to do more weeks and we will definitely sign her up. Thank you for taking care of my child with care and safety. Not to mention, rad skill building. read more

My 7 year old daughter went to code rev in Orange and loved it. Usually she is extremely shy and I thought she would feel very isolated at a camp where she didn't know anyone. I was wrong, she made a friend the first day and looked forward to going back each day. She was sad that camp was only one week long. The teacher was very excited about what he was teaching the kids. Also, he did a great job of leveling the program for each of the children. My daughter took the Minecraft class but had never played Minecraft, he showed her how to do everything and still working in the lessons at a more basic level for her. read more

My kids have done this camp and had a great time. My only concern is that sometimes it feels a little crowded and possibly over enrolled.

Such an amazing course. My son took away more in three days then he did all year at school.

For the Encino classes, our kids were able to demo their weeks learnings every Friday. Loved it.

My niece attended their Irvine camp for two weeks and loved it. Her website teacher was very knowledgeable and great with kids. She built her own websites and took them home, and they were actually very good! She also did the app creator class and made a bunch of cool apps which we got to download and use on our tablets. Very cool. She also played outside games on the school grounds, which were really nice. All in all she loved it and wants to return. I highly recommend- It's not very often you find something that makes kids interested in learning! read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE (at least to the Santa Monica location). They are extremely deficient in basic communication skills as demonstrated by me reaching out after an incident at their CodeRev Camp and still waiting to hear back from anyone (16 days later and counting...). They also are ill-equipped to interact with or manage children. The head instructor told my son to his face "I don't care about your ADHD" while my son was struggling with big feelings. This same instructor also laughed in my face at pickup when I asked what had happened to trigger the meltdown. They also are seriously under staffed and unable to keep children safe. Please be forewarned -- especially if your child is at all neuro-diverse. They have absolutely no compassion for children and even less for their families. There are so many wonderful camps and enrichments centers in west LA, please avoid this one. read more

If I could do less than one star, I would. I signed my son up for a class back in May/June. $240. My son sat through one class and absolutely hated it. The teacher never even bothered to introduce himself. My son is not one to hate things after one shot like this. I immediately and have multiple times expressed my dissatisfaction to CodeRev. They take forever to get back, and all they've done is stall. They keep trying to give me credits, which I have rejected. My son was traumatized by how terrible it was. Why the heck would we take another stab? So far, all they do is try to make excuses. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. read more

Love this place! Sent my son here for summer camp and he Loved it better than Tumbleweed and Fitness by the sea!! Definitely a great place for boys that love Minecraft! My twin boys have been coming to Coderev Kids for a couple of years now for all the classes and summer camps. We love Coderev! The instructors that work here are the best! They are all great at what they teaching and so good with kids. My boys actually miss the teachers when we taking some time off. I'm so happy I stated my boys young because the things that they can do with computer at 8 years old are pretty remarkable. read more

My son spent some time at CodeRev this year. This place is awesome! He worked on math craft and learned math through minecraft and he did an after school maya animation program and learned how to build and animate a minecraft character (his choice). The teachers working here are welcoming and patient and give a lot of one on one attention. read more

This is a wonderful place to bring your kids. My daughter took classes at their facility for 2 years and was able to do robotics, coding and design. Now they have a coding class at her school and it is provided by....CodeRev! They are a wonderful company, laid back, easy to work with. Dedicated young instructors that are engaging and relatable to the kids. I wasn't sure if we would be able to continue their classes this year when my daughter's school schedule changed and I'm thrilled that she still gets to work with their wonderful staff! read more

My 12 year old sister attended their summer camp last year and she loved it!! The teachers and the owner Evan, are always easily accessible to speak with. My sister was always excited to go everyday all day! She learned about making websites, making games and making her own apps! She loved it so much we just signed up for this year's camp. read more

They never introduced themselves to us or my children upon drop off. My kids said they were disorganized & were not friendly or helpful. My child was in the wrong class for 30 minutes & her brother came to get her. They didn't make learning how to code fun. Major disappointment. I signed my son p for the Minecraft Adventures Camp. It started out well but then took a huge turn for the worst. Long story short, the guy who assists, Luis, told me that the computer I had was not able to handle the class. Thats fine! I get that! However, when I asked for a refund because my computer cant handle this particular camp, I got the run around. They offered to me another camp/class but not sure how that would work if my computer was'nt up to par. Anyways, I asked for a refund. I even said that they could prorate for that day and refund for the remaining days. They said they would get back to us. Never heard from them. No money. Nothing! They claim that they have a policy on refunds but that was'nt explained to us. They could also let you know the minimum requirements of the class and that would help. So if its not working out for your child, dont expect any money back and expect the runaround. Maybe they are a good company but was just crappy with us!! Never again!! read more

My son just finished 3 weeks of camp at Code Rev Kids. He loved everything about it. Evan, Max, Doug, and everyone were so great! My son learned so much, got tons of individual attention, and was excited to go every day. After coding, they run around outside for a bit. Parking was easy too. read more

My child loved CodeREV. He enjoys tech, and we had been to some other computer camps in the area before, but he said Coderev blew the other camps out of the water in terms of what they learned and his fun meter. We did 3 weeks this summer, and I'm so grateful to my friend for referring us. They were super friendly, helpful, and most importantly, really great with the kids. They also had an app they gave us that allowed us to view our child's work really easily, daily instructor notes on progress, sign in and out electronically, etc. I thought that was great. High tech and high fun. Definitely recommend. read more

My son attended both the Mathcraft and Minecraft Level Design camps at CodeRev this past summer. It was a crazy sanctuary for him ... one where he learned interesting things, with like-minded children who were genuinely helpful to each other. They managed, in particular, to provide a learning environment that he felt was flexible -- allowing for personal freedom of choice (my words, not his ... he's only six). I deduct a star solely because of the price. It is very expensive, without food or partial week payment included. (I would also say that a kid should really only be sent here if they're very open to sitting at a computer for hours on end. Mine loved it when he was there, but did express an interest in a tiny bit more variety.) read more

From the reviews the Santa Monica location sounds great. However, my son attended the summer camp in Irvine and it was awful. I cold called 3 separate times and asked if they were able to handle kids with Autism. They assured me each time they could. I picked up my son (who is very high functioning) the first day, I received no feedback so I asked an instructor how he did, I was told the class was too hard for him, when I mentioned that I phoned and asked they told me that it was a basic beginner and the instructor said "yeah, they should really change that description", we moved him to another class. They moved him into a class he didn't want to take in a completely different subject, so they said ask that instructor. I then sought out that instructor and they said "he was disruptive and it didn't go well". This could've been avoided with a quick phone call saying the class didn't work out, what class would you like us to put him in. I came home checked the site and found a class that was the basic version of what they moved him from, I called the main office they said just tell the instructor to put him in that class, so the next day I did and 2 hours later I received a call saying he needed to be picked up, I asked why they said "he's disruptive" I asked what he was doing and they wouldn't tell me, just that this isn't the place for him. I I spoke to him and he said he asked a couple of questions because he hand't been in the class the day before and everyone was a head of him. I was so disappointed with the lack of communication. I also understand that not every place is equipped to handle kids who need a little more attention, but then don't assure me many times you are and then refuse to tell me why he needed to leave. When my husband picked him up he just kept asking, why did they make me leave dad? In addiion, we spent an hour each way in rush hour traffic to bring him to the class. They did refund me for a portion of the time, but not the first day which was a waste of money and time!! read more

Our three kids love Code Rev! Our kids are inspired to learn math and science using Minecraft, and they wish school could be like Code Rev everyday. That's why they can't wait to drive across town and spend their Sunday afternoons working with educator and Microsoft Minecraft Mentor, Jim Pike. They enjoy learning math and science in an innovative and experiential way that stays with them long after any lesson taught in a traditional class. Jim Pike has created some amazing lessons using Minecraft-- it really works! Plus, they are learning to code and learning to collaborate with their peers in the process. It really makes a difference. Our daughter, who had always struggled with long division, finally got the concept and technique through a Code Rev long division lesson using Minecraft.
