Have always had great care here, for me any my family, that being said, I called 3 times today and emailed the office to make an appointment for my son who has been sick, not one call returned or the email. I know doctors offices can be busy but I would like to think that I would get at least a call back or an email response telling me that or that I will receive a call after hours. I got nothing. I had an appointment with NP Angela Beauchamp and she was wonderful. The office was easy to get to and had a lot of parking. My appointment started exactly when it was supposed to start, not a minute later. I did wait about 15 minutes between the nurse and the nurse practitioner, but since my appointment started right on time I can't complain! Angela has really great bedside manner. She was kind & easy to talk to, concise with her questions about health history, and was great at answering my questions. I highly recommend! read more

Entrusting my dad's care to Dr. Codella is one of the great regrets of my life. Dr. Codella (and possibly other physicians at his practice) repeatedly failed to diagnose my dad's Alzheimer's disease. I had to personally confront Dr. Codella to get my dad referred to a neurologist. I later discovered that during his annual physicals, they were not giving dad any kind of rigorous or scientific cognitive tests. In fact the cognitive exam consisted entirely of cursory and specifical questions about his lifestyle. 2 years later, when my dad was admitted to the hospital three weeks prior to his death, I notified the practice immediately. Throughout his 2 week hospital stay, no one ever called me or my dad. When, one week before his death, the hospital advised dad be put into hospice care, I called Codella Family Practice again to notify them them that dad was dying. The person who answered the "emergency" line asked "if I'd like the doctor to call me back?" Totally stunned, I replied "yes". No call ever came. Avoid Codella Family practice at all costs. They are totally indifferent to the needs to their patients, do not reliably answer the phone during business hours, and do not return calls when they say they will. read more

It's very clear why this place has an abundance of scathing negative reviews. I came here for blood work and the nurse Angela ordered the wrong tests be done. I was very clear when I said I wanted a repeat of my previous blood work, which was quite in depth. However Angela took it upon herself to alter my request. When I called to ask what happened she refused to speak to me and forced front desk staff member to offer an invalid explanation. Another day off from work and another copay would be required to rectify Angela's incompetence. The owner was supposed to call me today to speak about the incident and, go figures, he didn't call. My husband was a new patient in February this year. Doctor wasn't even going to see him, was leaving it to the PA, until he said he was there as a new patient and wanted to see the doctor. They get you to sign up on the patient portal where they are supposed to post results etc. Results are not posted there unless you chase them constantly. You will probably get an actual person 1 out of every 20 times you call. So now I am looking for a new primary care. Again. read more

I have always seen Dr. Angela. She is great. Attentive. Answers all your questions. The office itself is always well kept and clean. For the most part, the staff is helpful, nice and greet you with a smile when you walk in. Overall good experience. However the reason for the 3 starts is that when you call to schedule an appointment, you NEVER get anyone on the line. You always have to leave a voicemail and wait for someone to call you back. Most times, I don't get a call back until the next day. If I'm calling now, it's because I have the time NOW to call and I need to schedule something NOW. It gets very frustrating. I have even referred a few people to this office and they tell me the same thing - they don't answer their phones :( Communication is super important. First, I have to say that I think N.P. Beauchamp, Dr. Okun, and Dr. Codella are great. The nurses have been great (for the most part) but lately I am tired of the issues after going here for years. I needed a physical and TB test performed for a job I was supposed to start working. Due to road work I was late to my original appointment and the physician I was supposed to see was busy with a phone conference (that's my fault, I totally understand. What happens after is what is bad). I reschedule that appointment for Tuesday (this happened on a Friday). Fast forward to Tuesday, I did not get a text alert about the appointment which is unusual. Early that day I call to confirm my appointment is on that day, but I am told it's for the NEXT Tuesday. There is no sooner appointment to do this. So somebody scheduled the wrong week for me. So this past Tuesday I finally go and it went well. Angela was thorough and very kind and got everything done quickly. I come back in today (Thursday) to have my TB test read, and to have the results faxed to my new job. The nurse tells me sure. I ask for a copy and give her the fax number, she writes it down and leaves. She comes back with a copy of the notes, I ask her if she faxed them already and she said yes. Great. I notify the person from HR (at the job) that she should be getting the forms, she tells me she has not gotten it yet. I call the doctor's office back a few hours later. I am told that the nurse did not fax the results. I ask if they can send them now, but I'm told that I have to come in and sign a consent form for them to do that. I understand patient consent is important because I work in the health field, but why was I not told about this before? Why was I lied to? After all of this inconvenience I still have to deal with more work on my end that should be done easily if the office was more competent. Besides that, the wait times can be horribly long if you don't come during typical work hours. I ignored this because I really like the physicians here, but now I think I'm going to have to find somewhere else to go. I cannot keep giving these people my business. Very dissapointed. Went for a COVID test when a mobile site was offered from this practice. I am new to NJ, and would be looking for a new primary doctor. Dr. Codella was very pleasant...I liked him very much. But I had trouble accessing my results with their portal. I left 3 or more phone messages, and sent several online requests for someone to call me! It took 2 days for someone to call me back! And I was told they sent me the portal info! Obviously no attention to detail...that is what I first said, that I was having trouble with the portal. Because of the terrible customer service, could not consider using them as my primary! if your looking for Doctors and a staff that cares do not go here! I've never liked the service but went because I was never really sick and it was convenient. During COVID they suggested my 85 year old mother come into the office. she needed services . Finally we had a tele- doc appointment. and still it was hard to get the doctors cooperation to address my mothers needs. Secondly I have never experienced a doctors office where they just don't pick up the phone. This in itself means they care less about the patient. Currently my husband is waiting for the results of a very critical test that was delivered to the office today and I have been calling all day and cannot get a response. Finally in February I had vertigo and was waiting for a doctor to come into the room. when he ( dr Codella ) arrived I was so sick... vomiting and dizzy so he said I can't treat you and you should go to emergency room. I did go to the emergency room and he still billed me. when I contacted the office to dispute the bill he said he saw me so now this is a matter of ethics. After we get this test back I will never step foot back into that office. if my experience isn't enough for you to stay away I don't know what else to tell you. read more

I normally don't follow reviews so I booked an appointment with Dr Codella regardless of all neg. reviews, if your not savvy with the internet it will be very difficult to navigate the link they send you, after spending an hour on getting an appointment. When I got to Dr Codella they gave me more paper work to fill out when I told him that I did it online he told to have a seat. I sat there for 30min, as people wore coming in for there appointment I notice the man behind the window talking down and being demeaning to the old people at first I ignored it and again he did it again to an elderly lady at this point I got up and asked him why he's being mean towards them. remember what I said in the beginning this is not for elderly pepole please bring one of your siblings with you! neatness to say it was my turn and then he tells me that all the work I've done online didn't come thru, even when I should him that it was received on his end. Horrible took over a month to get my blood work back gave my test results to overlook hospital in summit to make it seem like they did work they didn't do listed my LPR as heart burn their nurse Diana foley twist your words to make you out to be a liar overlook didn't admit me sent me home with a list of medical issues including bacterial pneumonia and a PE that landed me in the hospital 8 days later in a different state They refused to call my insurance to get authorization for a medication that if I stop taking I die than Dr. Codella tells me find another practice cause I'm unhappy when both my former insurance and the hospital I was admitted to said it's your PCP responsiblty to get authorization and follow up with all hospital visits if only it was that easy to go somewhere else had to stop requesting my records cause these people only saw me to try and cover up overlook hospital mistakes that almost killed me and when other doctors see my records from these people I have to spend several visits to get the truth out cause I maybe a lot of things but I don't lie that's not where this ends these people reported my review as harassment to my insurance company but couldn't call them for approval for medication also they tried to have me listed as unstable and mentally ill didn't work I can prove everything I've ever said also have proof of what doctors did what and when and now my family can two if something happens to me Dr. Codella is a coward who I thought would help me but all they did was cover up dr charbel Salomon malpractice and discrimination writing the truth is not harassment read more

Dr Okun, Dr. Codella's partner is perhaps the worst physician EVER. Writes prescriptions, doesn't warm you of the DANGEROUS side effects. Ordered a $610 test without my knowledge or consent, I didn't know about it until the bill came. Is that ethical? Also his bedside manner leaves MUCH to be desired. Bedside manners are impeccable. I've been seeing Dr. Codella since the 1st day he opened his doors at 1050 Galloping Hill in Union NJ actually before he even opened his doors because I used to work upstairs from his practice and would go down to check when he will open because I was looking for a doctor close to my job and it worked out perfectly. AVOID- no respect for patients- VERY LONG WAITS and 5 minute VISITS. I made an appointment after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes. The person who answered the phone was obviously rushed. My appointment time was not respected and they took walk in patients that did not have appointments before me. In summary I waited for 2 hours even though I had an appointment and the doctor saw me for 5 minutes. I will never come here again. Never Again. My first experience here with Dr. Schwartz a couple years back was great, but soon after that she left and I never received the same care. My last visit was rushed, the physician in the room with me spent more time looking at her phone then speaking with me, Dr. Codella walks in for about 30 seconds to try and sell me a skin cream that burned when applying. I leave, and after a week of my skin burning from this medicine, go somewhere else for a 2nd opinion, and guess what, all fixed since this physician actually seemed to care about me and gave me the proper prescription. She's patient, thorough, and pleasant. No question is stupid to her and she makes you feel comfortable and not rushed. I will admit the waiting time can suck sometimes. I try to get the first appointment of the day. Overall, the office is clean and the front desk staff can be a bit rude but hey, for a doctor like Angela, I don't mind. I recommend making sure your pharmacy has received the prescriptions before leaving the office. I've had times where the pharmacy has no idea what prescription I'm talking about. We got this doctor from our provider directory. Busy practice but wait times can extend for hours. For referrals or prescription help they are all but impossible to reach by phone. When looking for outpatient rehabilitation and pain management the office person's attitude was basically "Well, sucks to be you". She explained the only rehab center they deal with is one not on our insurance. She offered no suggestions for other care possibilities. If you have a chronic condition and the wrong insurance this office will give you a prescription and band aids...you're just another case number. read more

Horrible experience from beginning to end. Took my 4 month old to see Dr. Okun at this practice. The young heavy-set receptionist sitting closest to the entrance of the office should not be working that position. She should be filing papers or something working away from the patients. She lacks the welcoming energy and charisma a good receptionist should have. Doesn't even bother trying to fake a smile for the patients. She made it feel awkward to say the least. God forbid you need help with something .. it's like pulling teeth with her! After waiting for almost 2 hours, we finally get called into the exam room only to wait another 20-30 mins. A nurse finally comes in to take my baby's length & weight, but they don't even have a pediatric scale. Now, I have to shed some layers of clothes and hop on an adult scale once with my son and once without him so the nurse can subtract the difference to get his (estimated) weight. While this is happening, Dr. Okun walks up to the nurse (mind you, I'm standing right next to her) and tells her he's leaving to another location, and to have two other doctors on staff take over whatever patients he has in the office. "I'll be back later" he adds and leaves. At this point, I was livid but wasn't going to make the trip out there and 2+ hour wait be done in vain so I waited for another unknown doctor to see my son. This doctor walks in and doesn't even bother introducing himself. I don't know if he purposely did it thinking since it's our 1st time there we wouldn't even know whether he was Dr. Okun or not .. in any case, I didn't even care to know who he was from how fed up I was. At the end of the examination he said they don't provide immunizations/vaccinations there .. WHAT KIND OF PEDS OFFICE/FAMILY PRACTICE IS THIS?! When Dr. Codella was in the Union Office the service was great. Since he opened the New Brunswick Office don't even bother going. The wait is very long, they see other patients who came in an hour after you. You cannot get them on the phone nor can your pharmacist. Afford at all costs. Better off going to a Care Station. The staff at the desk leaves a lot to be decided. The only staff member that is good is the one who takes your blood. Poor management. read more

If you are looking for a doctor that is worth the wait Dr. Codella is your man. He will stay with you and explain your condition to you until you understand and are comfortable with the diagnosis. He is an old style doctor who believes in the patient over the bottom line. He gives the same level of care to every patient regardless of income or insurance type. I have referred all of my closest friends and family members and they are all glad they switched. This is not an office where you feel like a just a number. The follow up from both Dr. Codella and his staff is great. They call when they say they will and they assist with any concern you have. Sometimes you will have to wait a while but that's because he TAKES HIS TIME WITH EVERYONE. I cannot stress this enough. Ok....my first visit here for SEVERE neck/shoulder pain, I saw Angela, the nurse practitioner. First off she is VERY attractive, which didn't hurt any ! She examined me and gave me a referral for x rays, standard practice. She asked if I was taking over the counter medicines for pain, I told her I had but they weren't working. She left it at that and so did I, I know how doctors automatically assume you're a crackhead if you ask for pain medicine. Going for the x rays, the technician had to twist my shoulder A LOT, which made the pain MUCH worse. As several other patients have said, they never called me with results, I had to wait 3 weeks to finally get an answer from them. So I went back in for the follow up, and saw Dr. Codella....wtf is wrong with this guy??! First he stares at you like a psycho the whole time, didn't listen to a word I said, spent MAYBE five minutes tops with me, and refused to give me anything for the pain. (I asked, "what's the problem? This is my second visit, I'm in a lot of pain and can't sleep". His response was "well this is only your second appointment ". "Ok how many appointments until you actually treat me?" No answer from him). In the end, he gave me a prescription for methylprednisolone, a steroid....MADE THE PAIN WORSE, terrible side effects !! Thanks doc ! What an idiot...I'm going to see Angela next visit, but if they keep treating me like a junkie, I'll find another doctor. read more

I left about 4 or 5 messages without a call back on my bloodwork because I want to know my results because of low testosterone and I am told that I cannot inject the testosterone myself. I don't agree with the so called rules of his office. I will definitely be looking for another doctor because of the lack of communication with staff and the lack of knowledge the doctor has on testosterone therapy. read more

Ok let me state waiting at a doctors office is normal, 10 mins, 15mins fine. However waiting 1 hour even 2 hours is not. Overbooking your patients to where they aren't been seen until 1hour later is wrong. My first visit here was about 2 years ago. Visit went fine, seen on time at the time I had a female doctor. Anyways within the past year I had to come to this office bc I was very sick with bronchitis. Each visit I was never seen on time. I had doctor Okun for some reason I always feels like he's pressured or tired idk what. When you work with patients (which I do) you should want to connect with your patients look pleased.but that's not the case here. Another experience that I had was that I needed an ultra sound done so they had me come in early in the am bc the technician was going to be there. The guy never showed up. Wasted my entire day off waiting for a man to show up. I ended up leaving after waiting for 2.5 hours. I asked the receptionist to call me when he gets in bc I live 5 mins away. Turns out he ended up coming like an hour after and the lady never called me to come back to tell me to return. Good thing union hospital is right there and I got my ultra sound done there. Today was my last day there. I had my appointment for 1:30 when I scheduled it. I receive a text day of for 2 pm. So someone moved my appointment or doubled booked me. I got there and was NOT greeted and the receptionist Alyssa had the most rudest manners and a face that looked unpleasant. She was more happy about getting pizza and collecting the staffs money instead of checking me in. I waited for an hour and the doctor never came. No one come to check on you or tell you an estimated time. I didn't wait for the doctor to come bc i will no longer be giving this place my money. So if you decide to go, GOOD LUCK!. read more

I have being trying to obtain the doctor's approval for my NEW prescription. I call my insurance carrier and they state they have not received the required forms. It has been over three weeks and Dr. Codella's team is still not capable of doing so. My wife and I have called several times during these past three weeks and no one answers the phone. When they do answer they asked for your phone number and never call you back. I am frustrated with this situation as I need my medication as soon as possible. This is unacceptable read more

The absolute worst treatment I have ever received at a doctor's office in my life. The office staff never answers the phone & have no idea how to treat a patient. Dr. Okun leaned against the wall with his computer and stared at me while asking questions without listening to my answers. I am not sure if he is able to smile or if his face is frozen in that condemning position. He made it impossible to fill my prescription by calling the pharmacy in advance and hand writing on the prescription itself, making it questionable to any pharmacy. He asked me why blood work was not performed at my last appointment as if I would have any idea why that would have happened. I had to make two trips back to the Drs office to have my prescription corrected, am not able to drive due to my condition, and am thankful that my son was able to leave work to help me. He would not even come out of the back to apologize or offer an explanation, simply telling the receptionist to tell me to call if there were a problem. Well, good luck with that! i called at least 15 times and no one answered the phone!. This is a doctor who does not deserve that title. and when my condition causes me to fall to the floor due to a lack of feeling in my legs and feet, I will blame his lack of even examining me at all. All he did was lift the back of my shirt and touch my back. I could have asked a friend to do that. Stay away from him unless you have hemorrhoids or a minor condition.
