The walls and ceilings in almost every classroom and hallways are tearing down and the bathrooms are always dirty and written all over. The sinks in the bathroom don't work for long periods of time. The pool is not in service and it needs to be fixed and cleaned. And the staff in the offices never take a students side when they think wrong of something. The counselors do not help out the students whatsoever and just push them away telling them to come back but when they do come back they repeat the same thing. The only good staff member in there as of right now is Ms. Susette and the nurse, Ms. Quitzia but that's about it I love them both with my whole souls because they were the only ones who actually helped me in classes and helped me get through the year in one peice. And they are even trying to get rid of ms quitizia which is stupid to me she did nothing wrong. The security Mrs Stephany is rude and jealous of little girls. Always calling out girls breasts showing in the slightest in front of men security guards. I think this school is just a whole shit show and should be shut down. That one star I'm giving goes to Ms Quitzia and Ms Susette and no one else.

The core of the problem is Son Phan and the current board of directors are overzealous and inexperienced parents who won't let these coaches do their job. The head coach of a team is the root of every program, which we all learned last year when Coach Jon's dismissal forced away the teams top swimmers along with many great coaches. My family decided to stay and weather the storm because my kid made great friends and progress in his first 7 years at Lakewood. Coach Darren took over and he did his best but his tenure was doomed from the start there was a lot gossip around his hiring and even more gossip about conflict with board members who wanted things their way. The result: LKWD felt much less like a community, many of our friends left and the team's performance tanked. Now with Darren's resignation it has become clear that the root of the problem is Son and the board of directors have poisoned the teams culture and operations. You can tell how bad it got as board members review bombed themselves with several AI generated 5-Star reviews all coincidentally posted on November 8th, 2025. The swimmers on this team deserve better and despite being loyal to Lakewood for almost a decade we have no choice now but to leave so our kids can finally find community and consistency. It's especially sad because Lakewood has such a historic legacy derailed by a short span of incompetent parent leadership. If Lakewood is able to survive, I truly hope to see it return to glory again in the future!
