However, I had to dock a few stars for the service quality at the beach club itself. I understand that the venue is large and busy, but there's really no excuse for how inattentive the staff were. We were sat and told to peruse the menu, then didn't see our attendant at all. After about an hour and half later, and multiple unsuccessful attempts to catch the eye of our attendant, another group pointed their attendant in our direction so we could finally order just some water and drinks. Overall, I would highly recommend the food at Castel Plage, but I would suggest looking elsewhere on the beach for a true luxurious beach club experience.

The branzino was ok , cooked well but expensive at $30 ( we are at the beach after all); I would have liked a starch like rice or potatoes to make it a more complete meal The fish soup came with the usual accouterments ( toasted bread , aioli and cheese) but lacked depth I was told that the steak tartare was good The sorbets were too sweet In all a hefty bill for average food and a headache because of the music 2.5 stars( for branzino and steak tartare)

To sit in the back on couches or at tables it's free (not including price of food of course). To sit in the first row of lounge beach chairs it's 20 euros, and to sit in all the other rows of lounge beach chairs it's 16 euros. In addition, it's 5 euros to be able to use the parasol/umbrellas. This seems expensive, but once you buy you're allowed to sit out there the entire day - 20 euros for the day right at the beach front doesn't seem all that bad actually once you factor in the fact that you've drive/flown/traveled all this way just to get to Nice. Another important point is that Nice's beaches are stone pebbled and not sandy so the lounge beach chairs make a wonderful way for you to experience the beach without having terrible pain on your feet. The service was absolutely excellent. They were very quick to catch your eye if you needed something and quick to ask you for anything you might need. When I couldn't finish my meal they even brought me a plate to cover my food so that it would keep for longer. The rose (you've got to have Rose in Nice) was lovely and the truffle rigatoni was very flavorful - HUGE portions. Menus are provided in English if you need. They might give English to you automatically if they catch on that you're a tourist. Bathrooms were SO clean. They're in the back under the promenade des anglais and even have seating/resting areas and outlets to plug in/charge something.

After dinner I grabbed another drink and found myself right across from Ponchettes Beach, so I decided to walk over and it actually turned into such a nice evening. The beach and promenade were full of people relaxing, hanging out, and taking in the gorgeous sunset. The vibe was laid-back and the colors over the water were beautiful. I'm glad I wandered over instead of heading straight to the hotel. It ended up being the perfect way to end the night.
