Went here specifically for the hainan chicken rice. It's a hole in the wall small place tucked into a corner of the plaza. The staff was very nice. Food came out in reasonable time. Onto my review on the dish: [Rice] Rice was perfect wasn't underdone nor too much water to make it mushy so it was great. The flavor is excellent. [Chicken] I always opt for full dark meat and each piece was delicious made just right. [Sauces] Loved both the orange garlic ginger and ginger scallion sauce. Didn't see the black soy sauce. [Soup] Glad to have soup with it not all places will give you soup on the side. It tasted good. Final takes would be portions aren't that big and prices is a bit on higher end especially if you opt for dark meat but because each time I ate there it was a satisfactory experience I didn't mind it as much. It's a bit far from my work and home but when in the area definitely always take the chance to stop by for a meal. read more

We ordered: *Salt & Pepper Bean Curd (Fried Tofu) 椒鹽豆腐* - 5/5 Freshly fried without being too oily *Hainan Chicken 海南雞* - 3.5/5 Half portion comes with a bowl of rice, of which we chose the chicken oil rice. Strong flavor of sesame oil. The dark meat was tender, but the white meat was on the dry side. Some parts, e.g. around the wing area, was saltier than the other parts. A lot of reviewers ordered with noodles instead. *French Style Filet Mignon 法式牛柳粒* - 4.5/5 The beef was very tender; it was probably treated with baking soda and water and washed properly so there is no nasty after-taste. The beef was slighly crispy with a very nice sweet sauce. I think there can be a bit more basil, but we enjoyed every bit until the very last piece! *Beef Brisket in Hot Pot 柱侯牛腩煲* 4/5 Very tender meat stew with vegetables to soak up the sauce. I wish there were more tendon than the meat. *Fried Rice Noodles with Beef 乾炒牛河* - 4/5 There were more bean sprouts than rice noodles, but the imbalance was quite refreshing and less stuffing in the stomach. I also ordered the Lime Barley drink (3/5) -- it was ok but no refill. Note that the place was short-staffed: only 1 waitress, 1 chef and 1 kitchen helper. A mom-and-pop feel. Known for their Hainan Chicken Rice and Soup dishes, they make it pretty well, close enough to the super popular Savoy located in Alhambra. It's satisfying enough for me not have to drive down there. This place has a Cantonese twist to the dishes. We ordered numerous dishes for large party lunch a few times and all the dishes are delicious. Only once, the soup was too salty. All other times, satisfying. Can request for no MSG, but they do use chicken broth as substitute. Good place to call in and pick up to-go food after work and forget cooking dinner. A friend of mine orders to-go 2 to 4 times a week... Friendly owners. The owner lady is super nice. When I had a young infant, she told me to phone in my order next time and she can deliver my order to my car so I don't have to come down on a raining day with a baby in hand. Long overdue review. This restaurant is located in the corner of a large plaza with ample parking. It's my go to restaurant for specific take out items: beef chow fun, house special noodles, and wor wonton. I've tried other dishes but these three are solid and much loved by my kids. Since we have a peanut allergy in the family, I very much appreciate the customer service here. The lady will always verify with the chef and reassure me, even though I order the same items over and over. She too wants to be sure in case there were ingredient changes. Cantonese foodies... rejoice! I was craving Hainan chicken and Hong Kong style chow mein, and this place has both. If you've been to Cluck2Go, you'll like this place for their Hainan Chicken Rice... but they serve it with the bone on and you don't get the free soup with your meal. As others said, its a bit tricky to find. It's in a dilapidated strip mall off Hacienda / Colima and its tucked in the far corner next to a liquor store. There is plenty of parking. During the COVID19 self containment period, I guess their hours on the Yelp page is incorrect. I scheduled a 5:00 pickup and the lady/owner hesitated and said she'll stay for my order. I felt so bad, since I only ordered the chicken rice and chow mein. It came to 20-something and change, so I gave $30 and told her to keep the change. The portion for the chicken was decent, but the rice was more than generous. It came with a small portion of pickled cabbage. It's not Savoy caliber but it sure beats the drive to LA. The HK style chow mein hit the spot. OMG it brought back childhood memories. Plenty for 2 meals if you're going solo. Interesting little establishment in the back corner of the shopping center, not much to look at but the food was pretty good. The food was authentic Chinese, and definitely acceptable to the taste of my parents. We ordered a chow mein, which was pretty standard but still tasty, and sauteed vegetables which paired well with the chow mein. The food was tasty and we'd return to try some other things. The dining area had only 3 tables because it was still on COVID protocol so it didn't have very many tables, so a lot of their food was for take out and most people just picked up food. I thoroughly enjoyed coming here. Seriously I do. Crazy thing about coming here to their "new" location was that it was situated in a very well hidden of a plaza. The traffic jam to the entrance of this secluded restaurant can be messy around early weekday dinner time as rush hour from nearby businesses provide slower than usual driving traffic. Heard stories on that this small mom and pop operations served one of the best Hainan Chicken Rice (minus the customary soup). I liked their skin texture on the chicken. One of the few places that still served bone-in chicken. The rice is not too heavy on the broth infuse (less chicken broth flavor on rice) and the sauces and ginger are ok. I think the big catch coming here is actually their salt and pepper wings and their soup noodle. Freshly made wings from them are my favorite app to order whenever I am in here. They probably don't do too many baked hainan chicken as they seemed to run out whenever I am in. The menu items I noticed they started to do more of are the claypot dishes. It's a variant from their other soup dishes (ie chicken, won ton soup). I would recommend getting some of the soup dishes in the pot section. Overall, it's a not-too busy place on certain nights. Then again, with the traffic around this area with less-than visible signage, it's a very secluded place for a nice meal of chicken rice dishes. Best orange chicken I've EVER had and best customer service. My usual order is orange chicken 10/10, veggie chow mein 10/10 and their fried rice 10/10. Yesterday we tried their French filet mignon and it was sweet! But what we absolutely enjoyed is the service we received. Emily is precious! Cocoin Kitchen is a hidden gem in Hacienda Heights. They have the best Hainan Chicken and French Style Filet Mignon in the area. Their other dishes are just as delicious as well. When I still lived in the area, I frequented the restaurant with church small group friends, ate there with my husband and ordered togo for my children's families numerous times. The owner lady is friendly and is flexible in switching out certain ingredients. Today I called to ask if they could deliver food to a good friend who was just discharged from the hospital. After finding out that my friend does not live too far from their restaurant, the owner kindly accepted the request. How wonderful is that! Really appreciate their Above-and-Beyond customer service. Stopped in for lunch after visiting the temple. My parents wanted some good Chinese food and I was sold on the reviews of this spot. It was well kept and clean. The staff was nice and quick to bring out our food. It came out in different intervals not all at once. They had my dad's favorite hainam chicken with oil rice. The rice is infused with the oils from the chicken making it appear yellow. He loved it. I got their Kung pao shrimp and rice. It said spicy but it was not spicy at all. The shrimp was a great size and they did not skimp. I really liked the sauce and chunks of green bell peppers and onions. Sister had their fried rice and it was massive. We had to bring home left overs. Also had their shrimp chow fun which was also a family sized dish even for a lunch size! Really get your money worths here. Came in for lunch several times now during the week. This is newly owned and are currently open 7 days a week from 11 to 9 pm. Parking is no issue since they are located in a strip center and share parking with other businesses. I tried variety of items which was salt & pepper tofu, beef with snow peas, fish filet with bell peppers & black bean sauce and filet mignon over rice. The lunch specials include hot and sour soup - which was yummy. Overall, there wasn't a dish that I didn't enjoy. The filet was delicious, tender and was probably my stand out entrée. Don't expect to be overly pampered with service here - but it is friendly, when you're ready to pay - most of the patrons I noticed- go the counter. They do accept credit cards which I found a plus. I've been coming here for YEARS now, and I absolutely love this place. They serve authentic Cantonese-style cuisine, and their Hainan Chicken is one of their specialties. This family-run restaurant is super hard working and they cater to your requests if needed. I've on several occasions asked them to make their house-specialty lobster or crab for family parties. You just need to give them advance notice and go over the details of cost/weight etc. Though it's tucked away in the corner of a quiet shopping center, don't let that deter you. Their lunch specials are great, and I highly recommend their Hainan chicken - which you can get white meat without skin and bones - but do ask if they charge extra for that.
