Cocoa Kayaking is awesome! I really like that they keep your groups smaller (8 or less). On my tour, there were only 4 of us, plus our guide. Speaking of our guide, Pat was very knowledgeable and helpful. He made sure we were able to spot the wildlife, told us about it, and gave us some history of the area, while taking some photos to send to us later. We did the wildlife preserve tour and saw manatees, alligators, comb jellies, plenty of birds, and even a couple sea turtles. While our group was all experienced kayakers, this tour could be enjoyed by a beginner also. They use very stable perception kayaks built for 3. All the equipment was clean and in great shape. We experienced an amazing kayaking sunset your. Chris was our Captain. We were able to ask any questions. Chris was a wealth of information. We were set up in teams. Team France, Team Switzerland, and Team Leslie. Chris took his time explaining to the two teams that we were visiting from France and Switzerland. The wildlife was amazing. Chris took his time to explain interesting information about the tour. We had a great time. Chris encouraged us to scoop up the plankton and jellyfish in small nets and hold them in our hands. Due to an error on our part, we did not do the tour that we planned. We wanted to do the wildlife reguge, but did the mangrove tunnels instead. First of all, the office staff was EXTREMELY accommodating. They rebooked us on the other tour about 30 minutes before we were supposed to leave. They were friendly and helpful. The tour itself was a lot of fun. Our guide Ian was incredibly knowledgable and shared a lot of interesting facts with us. We didn't get to see an manatees, but did get to see a jelly fish. Bioluminescense Kayaking is amazing! My 13 year old son and I got the tandem Kayak with the clear bottom (it doesn't matter if it's clear because it's at night and you can't see below the boat) and went for our first kayak adventure. Our guide was amazing, as he knew the exact places to go to see the most Bioluminescent effects. We got to hold mini jelly fish that don't sting and see the effect of our movement in the water when these organisms glow. We had such an amazing experience. A word to the wise, bring mosquito repellant and wear something you don't mind getting a little wet. You are going to have a great time! read more

We've been on kayak tours with several different companies, and Cocoa Kayaking is now the only one we'll use! In the past month, we've been on 2 of their tours at Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge, once with Logan and once with Noah. They both gave us a great tour and told us lots of interesting information about the history and wildlife in the area. We had the thrill of encountering manatees (up close!), dolphins, herons, stingrays, cone jellyfish, horseshoe crabs, and alligators! Logan even took us to places that we had never been with other tour groups, and Noah showed us how to safely hold a horseshoe crab! They also took lots of pictures that were available to us online (for free!) after the tour, and their prices were better than the other tour groups. What fun!! I went on a kayaking tour with Troy and Captain Michael 5/4/2022 and had a wonderful time. There were only two other friendly folks on tour with us for a very nice group of 5. Wildlife sitings aren't predictable, and certainly can't 'be arranged' by your tour guides, however we were blessed with multiple dolphin sitings and even a mother with baby! We saw plenty of birds and some were able to spot stingrays. Also Mangrove crabs! We kayaked through Mangrove tunnels and along gorgeous mangrove islands. It was quite and serene, especially with our small group. A nice touch were the provided waterproof bags lent for our things. I would (and plan to) do more tours with this company without hesitation. Troy and Michael are patient knowledgeable guides who went out of their way to try to find lots of wildlife sitings! Don't miss it if you are in the area! read more

This was an amazing tour! We chose a morning kayaking tour because we read in other reviews that it was the best time to see wildlife -- we were not disappointed! Within the first 15 minutes of the tour, we had already seen at least 4 dolphins! They were just a few yards from our kayaks. The remaining hour and half of the tour was just as great! I've been on several kayaking trips before but this is nothing a typical tour -- our guides described it as hiking in the water and they were right! There were times when the paddling lane was so narrow that your kayak was touching a mangrove on both sides! Just an amazing experience. We picked a cool day in January so we were fortunate to have the whole tour to ourselves. Troy and Noah were phenomenal guides and we learned so much about the dolphins, manatees, mangroves and Florida -- we even got to hold a comb jellyfish in our hands! My partner and I had just received tragic news on the way to this tour, and when we arrived we were not in a good state of mind. Both Zach and Pat were the epitome of professionalism while still providing a lot of fun. They gave us the space we both needed without being asked and yet still managed to provide comfort with their sense of humor, intelligence, and an overall sense of family. I cannot say enough about these two and how they ran this tour. Regarding the tour itself, it was outstanding. It was a group tour (about 14 of us total) where we saw manatees, five different dolphins, snakes, and even caught bioluminescent comb jellies with nets. Everyone on the tour had a blast, and while putting away equipment, talked about just how knowledgable both Pat and Zach were. They provided bug spray (although we didn't need it this night), rechargeable glow sticks, waterproof casings to protect our belongings, and made sure that despite being delayed fifteen minutes later than planned (another group docked off first), added extra time into our tour. The mangrove tunnels were quiet and beautiful. We were never rushed despite us taking advantage of the slow pace to recharge our emotional batteries. All in all, just a stellar program that I would do again at the drop of a hat. read more

Our captain was James and he kept us safe and provided a fantastic opportunity to experience watching the dolphin play on our tour. He gave us photo opps too by taking them with his own phone and sending it to us. I would highly recommend this adventure through the mangroves. I was looking for something different to do with my friend visiting from DC. It was a two hour experience and by the end you really are tired. We had a great 2-hour kayaking tour with James this week. He's very laid back and kept a good pace throughout our trip. He's a native of Cocoa Beach and was very knowledgeable of the area and wildlife that we encountered which were avian, crustacean, and marine. There were lots of mullet jumping out of the water at various times while we made our way along the Banana River and we were lucky enough to see dolphins breach the surface in different areas as well as a manatee that swam around us for a few minutes. The paddle through the mangrove tunnels was fun and we caught some small mosquito fish and cichlids with the little nets that were provided and promptly returned them to the river after observing them for a bit. We definitely will use them again if we come back to visit and would recommend them to other people interested in kayaking in Cocoa Beach. read more

Cocoa kayaking tour was great! We kayaked the Banana River with the amazing mangroves. We had manatees and dolphins swimming along side us. It was incredible. I really loved that it was not a typical "canned" tour. Our guide, Genevieve took the time to get to know us a bit before heading out to customize the tour to the interest of everyone in our group. Genevieve was so prepared and organized, we felt comfortable going out in the water kayaking for the first time with her. All of the equipment was top notch and very well cared for. I was really nervous about going and was surprised how stable the kayaks were and it was really easy to maneuver around. Her kayaks were really comfortable which I realize now is really important since you're out paddling for a couple hours. I did the wildlife refuge dolphin and manatee tour on Merritt island and it was awesome! Our tour guide Emily was very knowledgeable about the area we explored and helped us spot many dolphins, manatees, and birds. She also shared a lot of knowledge about many local birds, plants, trees etc which was very impressive and great to learn about. If you haven't seen bioluminescent wildlife (eg grunions in SoCal) then this is very cool thing to do. This time of year dinoflagellates (layperson explanation - a species of these single celled algae that when is in high concentration will glow blue when it's shaken up) and comb jelly fish (not normally here this time of year) are in abundance. As you paddle in the dark waters small fish look like shooting stars under the water, the paddles glow blue at every stroke and running your hand through the water makes your hand looks like a 5 fingered glow stick. Catch a few comb jellyfish in the provided small nets and they light up briefly. Very peaceful and cool experience - thanks to Dustin our guide. read more

We did a sunset tour and the current unexpectedly picked up on us which made paddling upstream difficult but Mark was calling out instructions to make sure we made it and stuck with everyone in the group. The marine life was very very active a family of dolphins followed us for half the tour almost, tons of manatees, and some tiny jellyfish. 10/10 will be back and if I can will be touring with Mark! read more

Before Cocoa Kayaking we had tried other tours and I can say Genevieve's Cocoa Kayaking tour is much more fun and personable.
