I was in town with my guy for a work trip and needed something fun to do while he was stuck in meetings, and I'm SO glad I found this. I'm a big paddleboard person, so I figured kayaking couldn't be that different... and honestly, it was such a good call. I signed up for the morning paddle and Ian was our guide super friendly, easy to talk to, and actually knew a ton about the area without making it feel like a lecture. I was really hoping to see a manatee (still a little salty about that lol), but we did see a bunch of beautiful birds, tons of stingrays, and even a random little dolphin which totally made my day. The weather was perfect, the water was calm, and the whole experience was just really relaxing and fun. 10/10 would recommend if you're into paddling, kayaking, or just want a chill little water adventure. read more

My friends and I took a morning kayaking trip in the Merritt Island NWR. Our guide from Cocoa Kayaking was Cricket, who was amazingly knowledgeable, patient, kind and competent. We were especially interested in seeing flamingos, and Cricket guided us to an island with a small flock. She kept a distance so as not to disturb the birds, which we appreciated. Then Cricket guided us to a couple of places populated by friendly, curious manatees. She shared interesting facts about all the wildlife we saw, and it was clear she is genuinely passionate about the local flora and fauna. I would recommend Cricket and Cocoa Kayaking to anyone who wants a unique experience in nature. I hope to visit again sometime! Thanks! read more

I had the BEST kayak tour on Saturday with James. We went at 9 am and saw manatees(!!!) about 5 minutes into the tour and dolphins shortly thereafter. The sun was out, and it was HOT, but once we hit the tunnels and the wind blew, it felt great. Be advised: If you're paddling in a tandem boat with a romantic partner and y'all aren't on good terms, you will probably be on worse terms after this excursion. The mangrove tunnels are TIGHT and low, which makes for tricky navigating . One thing I really appreciated about the tour was that James took photos of each party right before we loaded into the boats and another time when we were in the tunnels. Great for memories! Next time I'm in Cocoa Beach, I'll definitely go again. read more

Like many people from the mid-Atlantic, we've been to Florida a lot and after a while it becomes challenging to find different & new things to do. Thankfully I remembered a review from my Yelp friend Ray T. about this place and with that, an idea was born. The setup here is very easy. We chose the late night, as in 2230 start time, Thousand Islands Bioluminescent Kayak Tour. This was a good choice. Why? The dumb luck that it was just the four of us on basically a private tour and since we got there a bit early, we could start a bit early for some extra time on the water. For the sake of full disclosure, we did but we didn't see much in terms of wildlife. We scared the hell out of a Great Blue Heron sitting on part of a sea wall, there was plenty of the blue colored dinoflagellates in the water but only one comb jelly could be found. Chris thought he heard a dolphin at one point, but he didn't hear it a second time. Look Brother, by no means is the aforementioned verbiage meant to be a dig by me. Truth is truth and at the end of the day the entire experience is off the wall cool to be out kayaking, like Eric Clapton, after midnight, is something that you simply cannot do anywhere, legally and/or safely. What matters is that if we were back in the area, and at some point, we will be, would be do this again and the answer is a resounding Hell Yes! I did the wildlife refuge bioluminescent kayaking tour and the wildlife refuge manatee kayaking tour with tour guide Logan. He made a nice experience incredible. The nighttime kayaking tour was super cool, but the manatees were overwhelmingly amazing. Logan is knowledgeable and passionate about his work, he is also incredibly patient with newbie kayakers and paddle boarders. We went out with Ian for the 9am Sunday "Thousand Islands Mangrove Tunnel" tour and it was absolutely fantastic. Obviously, Cocoa Kayaking can't control the weather so the fact that we had such a perfect day was part luck but I'm confident that Ian would've made it a great paddle regardless of the weather. The paddling is easy and the wind was light so we didn't have to work too hard. The trip through the mangrove tunnels was a highlight of the trip. We also paddled through a cluster of comb jellies that we could just pluck out of the water and look at. Ian was a great guide and talked to the kids at their level to help ease their concerns about alligators and snakes (neither of which are a risk on this paddle). He's been living in this area his whole life and had no shortage of stories to tell. Highly recommended -- I can't imagine how you wouldn't have a good time unless the weather was terrible. Full disclosure: We didn't see any dolphin or manatee .. that would've been nice, but this is nature after all. Can't have it all. read more

I wanted to familiarize myself to Thousand Island, so my boyfriend and I can kayak and SUP in the area. We went on the mangrove tunnel tour led by Ian. Wow! It was 2 hrs of fun, relaxation and information. We didn't see any manatees (one did sneak by), but it was a great day nonetheless! Paddling through the mangrove tunnels was quite an experience! Very unique! Ian, a native of Brevard County, was very informative and gave us very helpful tips. He was a great tour guide! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This was our first kayaking experience and we totally fell in love with kayaking and the beauty of the mangroves thanks to Susie and Jeff. They were the best guides explaining and showing us the wildlife, the mangroves and the waterways. We saw different types of birds and even got to see a dolphin. Jeff had tons of great 'dad' jokes and Suzie missed her calling as a photographer. The price is definitely worth it for the experience. We had an awesome time with Captain Michael last week! The entire process from booking to completing our kayak tour was amazing. We booked a 9am tour and after booking all info including directions to the kayaking location was provided via email. Captain Michael explained everything, fitted us for life jackets, provided waterproof bags for our belongings, and launched us into the water. We learned so much about the mangroves and animals living in the estuary. This was my husbands first time and only 2nd time for my daughters and I and he made us feel very comfortable in the water. My husband had rotator cuff surgery a couple months ago and Michael was very patient as I didn't realize how difficult solo paddling would be for him. We saw 2 dolphins shortly after entering the water and thoroughly enjoyed our entire kayaking trip. Another added bonus: Captain Michael took photos of us while we were in the water so we didn't have to worry about pulling out our phones...NICE! We look forward to booking another kayaking trip with CocoaKayaking next time we're out that way. read more

The receptionist that works the booking issues is deceptive. I booked a single kayak first 19 July at around 4:30-5:00. When my daughter tried to book immediately after only tandem was available. We arrived and told the tour guide of issue at 6:15 pm. He called receptionist who told me to call back next morning: when I called she told me I should have called immediately after. An hour later is pretyy immediate. When i called 20 July ay 0800. She told me missed 48 hour cancellation. She also lied to the owner saying I waited until next day. i cant use a credit I am a tourist and company owner told me to call and did not reach back out. I will dispute for my $47 dollars but that is some SHADY BS. read more

What a wonderful experience we had on the bioluminescent glass bottom kayak tour! I called last minute and was fortunate that they had openings two days later for an 8:30 pm tour. You want the weather to be perfect for your excursion which is why I made a late decision. Well, our weather could not have been more perfect, and there was no moon (which makes the bioluminescents more visible) and our guide told us that they are more vibrant in warm water, so July and August months are great for seeing them light up. Our tour guide Erin did a great job explaining what we would see and pointing out the best spots to watch the magic happen under the water. Also, I think the tour was supposed to be an hour and a half, and ours lasted two hours which was a nice bonus. The only reason this excursion got 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is pretty pricy. Don't let it be a deterrent though. It was a relaxing, lovely, magical evening! read more

We had a wonderful Friday night with Cocoa Kayaking for the 8:30 PM excursion to see Comb Jellyfish in Sykes Creek using their clear bottomed, LED illuminated Kayaks. Well, 4 of us two chose kayaks and 2 chose paddleboards. To be out om the water at night and to see the aquatic life illuminated underwater was a really cool experience. We saw some Comb jellies- which, when shaken, emit bioluminescence- but in the first 15 minutes but not much after. Apparently, the warm weather has prohibited their population this year. The peak is apparently a little later in the month. We were also able to see an eel, some undetermined species of fish, and possibly a horseshoe crab. Dustin, the guide, was excellent. Knowledgeable, well-spoken and informative, and safety conscious. He did a good job helping us with the jellyfish, and honored my request to try to find more back in our original spot, even as our time was running thin. Kudos. We would definately use them again, especially if we were back for the June-July Bioluminescent event. Or, for the sunset trip through the mangroves. A neat experience for our group...fun was had by all! read more
