Super Sushi - Interior view: Notice the interior roof cornice design and matching watercolor painting framed in green. Lovely.

Excellent value, for only £17, you can choose anything from the menu and there are over 70 choices, from nigiri, temkai, varies Katsu dishes to fried udon. You name it, they probably have it. This is my 2nd time in this restaurant and the quality has been nothing but very high standard. Will definitely recommend this to anyone who are a big fan of Japs food

So. This place. Bit off the beaten track, yes. The surroundings are far from posh - like old fashioned gritty, not post gentrification fake gritty. If you're willing to go on the train, though, happy days. Super Sushi's "all you can eat" menu is as good as you'll get for the price. And the price is really great. For the same $ as a cheap main course on a typical japanese restaurant you can park yourself here and eat for 1h45m solid. The restaurant is a bit dark and not too noisy; good for a date if you're past that phase when pigging out in front of them is a no-no. The deal is simple: they'll bring you a list (a wide sheet of paper with hot/cold dishes on both sides) and you tick whatever it is you'd like - maximum 6 items per round; do bring a mate but not several, in order to maximise calorie intake. :) They'll bring the food quickly and give back the list, where you'll pick another six. I always start with a temaki and some nigiri; if you want yellowfin you'll pay a little extra but I never bother as the other fishes are just fine. Next I'd have the yakitori and wasabi prawns because that wasabi sauce is amazing and wasabi rush is my favourite legal high. Garlic fried rice goes well with chicken/pork katsu or teriyaki. The tempura sweet potatoes are good, but be careful because you'll get 5 thick slices and they can be very filling. Remember, you have almost two hours to fill up... To finish I get more nigiri, some uramakis and finally sashimi as "dessert" - BUT mind that the only fish included on the all you can eat price is salmon; all the others charge extra. Minus points: the karaage I had just once and it wasn't their best; the chicken was strangely fatty and sinewy. I don't rate the ramen highly either; I'd stick with the rice here. I wouldn't say this is the BEST japanese in London (might not even be the best one in Chingford; I stand to be corrected here), but it's delicious enough, there is no service charge, the beer is cold, the staff is lovely and friendly and you'll leave happy and almost too full to walk back to whatever form of transport you hopped on to get here. Oh, they do have a la carte menu, but most everyone just go for the fixed price. Up to you, though. :)

The tonkotsu pork broth was very creamy, rich, and well-seasoned, and the firm noodles offered a very good taste as I ate them together with all the ingredients. The "water" taste was relatively minimal. The pork belly was a bit overcooked and falling apart, by which time I realized there was a bit less meat than I had anticipated but more of the fatty skin part. I just think the broth was a big plus and could make me comfortably say that the ramen I had was great. I know making the tare and the broth takes a long time so while I am not sure Ippudo is exactly following that process, I do see efforts in trying. Both the chicken kara-age and the takoyaki tasted like what they were supposed to taste like, with the oroshi ponzu sauce providing the chicken with a bit of new flavor on top of the already flavorful chicken. The chicken was juicy, too! Juice was flowing out of the breading as I took a bite. The takoyaki had the standard amount of octopus, which was a tiny bit. The matcha brownie was not bad, but lacked matcha flavor and was a bit too hard. It took me a bit to cut it open with my fork which I normally wouldn't be expecting from brownies. Based on the fact that it was cold, I thought it might have been frozen previously. It was well-decorated, but the fact that it was frozen most likely affected how hard it was, along with how less tasteful it was. It was still sweet, but like I mentioned previously, lacked matcha flavor. Another thing I noticed was that the service was slow. It took us a while to get out food. And despite me saying to bring the dessert along with everything else, they still brought out the dessert towards the very end and when we inquired about it, said that they were waiting on us to ask to bring the dessert. Just want to bring it up as a miscommunication instance, but totally not a big deal and it didn't impact my experience negatively at all.

However, I really enjoyed my ramen at this particular location. I had the modern tonkatsu ramen and it was both rich and flavorful without being too heavy. The chasu was tender and delicious. And, the samurai ginjo sake really made the rest of the evening pass by nicely. Service was fine.
