I checked out this restaurant because I saw it on social media :/
But the truffle pasta does live up to the hype. Let me start at the beginning. This restaurant popped up in my feed and I made a note to check it out the next time I was in Berlin. I couldn't make a reservation for one person so I came up to the restaurant (in the park) during dinner time - on a weeknight! - and was turned away. I asked how to make a reservation if it's just me and they said to just make it for two and make a note. Ok.
So that's what I did. You can see that I was really determined to eat here.
I came back the next time I was in Berlin. You order from a menu that's on your phone and they bring it to your table. The menu has little pictures that show what your cocktail presentation will be when it comes out. That's helpful if you're looking for maximum aesthetic.
Because I wanted to be semi-healthy and not just have the truffle pasta (still great, loved it), I also tried roasted vegetables, which were fine. I also ordered a tiramisu variation for dessert which I could have done without; I was stuffed.
After dinner, I explored the restaurant a bit and went to the bathroom. Be careful of the bathroom doors in the women's restroom. They look like they're those two-way mirrors like you see on TV in the police interrogation room where you can only see in from one side and the other side looks like a mirror. That's the effect they're going for: while you're inside the stall, you can see out, and hopefully (me, while I was in there) they can't see in. Fortunately, no one came in to the bathroom while I was in there because I looked at it when I was washing my hands...and you can totally see inside. I have a lot of experience with this type of glass because of my job and if there's too much light leak from the other side, it ruins the effect and you can see both ways through the glass. I thought they solved this issue with a miracle two-way mirror material, but they didn't. Just be aware if you go to the bathroom; it's very Berlin. read more
