80s cut. I paid $170 for the cut. I came a long distance. I had hair to the middle of my back and…read moreonce I left it was four inches shorter with no density left. I had super curly hair and it was uneven in the back after the cut. It appeared as if all my hair was gathered into a ponytail and cut at the top. It was so heavily textured that there was nothing for my hair to have shape leaving it frizzy. When I went back to my regular hairdresser who cut off all the "points" at the ends of my hair, she tried to leave me some length. Sadly, my hair looks like it was cut with a weed whacker, as if there were no actual style I could reproduce or work with when I got home. I am trying to grow it out and it has been terrible to try and style. I do not recommend this niche haircut.

I've had some highlighting and dying done in the past but nothing to extraordinary. It was time for a change! Absolutely sick of my hair, and the damage. So I sought out to find a fantastic salon. Someone who could bring my sad looking head of hair back to life again! I've heard of so many diffrent places to go to. However upon checking reviews I decided otherwise. At my wits end, I decided to try a diffrent area. I then found this awesome gem: soho studio for hair! The reviews were Great! So I took a change and booked a very last minute appointment! They were very nice on the phone about it, and paired me up with a sweet young lady named ruby! Upon arriving, I walked in and was greeted warmly by ruby! She was very sweet And so helpful from the start! She took me around and showed me everything. She than began to consult with me and asked me every detail of what I wished to be done. She was also very honest too, what would look better, and what would not. I cannot thank her enough for that! I also met the owner of the salon, who was also very nice and very helpful. She also engaged in the consulting and also helped with my hair too along the way. I had finally decided on a blue black hair coloring with a short undercut faux hawk. I had one pic to go by. They pulled it off to the *T* !!! Goodbye long hair as I laughed. It was such a fantastic experience as ruby and I had such great convo! We clicked! And I also feel that's so important too! She showed me all she was doing and what she was using! No surprises, that's the way it should be! The end result is that my hair totally looks and feels amazing!!!! It's healthy again! Ruby was great and my hair was not fried or not damaged as others have done in the past. It was perfect! And my haircut? Wow! Unique as the I am! And I keep getting fantastic comments on it now! I will tell anyone I know to go to this place! You just have to! They're great, they're professional, they're not just gonna sell you any color or just chop your hair, they're gonna consult you first. Heck they can even tell you stuff about your hairline or scalp that you might not even know. I learned quite a bit! Ruby is my *it girl* and that salon is my place now! I'm sold! We booked our appointment a couple of months ago and reconfirmed by text, yet when we arrived, the stylists had clearly given our slot to a higher-priced service. One stylist even told us to "have a seat," despite the two of them openly discussing in front of us that the other client's service would take a long time -- meaning they knew our appointment was bumped before we even walked in. There is no one to answer the phone, and replies come through messy, unorganized texts. After making eye contact with the stylist, they told us to "come back in an hour," as if our time didn't matter. There also seems to be zero management. We walked out -- and as expected, no one ever followed up. At this point, we'd rather just go to the salon across the street with far better reviews and a more professional reputation.

The reason she has all five star reviews on her website is because she deletes any negative ones, which is straight up dishonest. Here is the review she deleted, since she did not like what I had to say: Normally I would not leave a negative review, but I think it's important to paint a clear picture here, since only 5 star ratings are being posted. Though Stacey was very sweet and I'm sure she cuts/styles straight hair beautifully, I felt as though she rushed through my curly cut appointment. I showed her exactly the look I was going for - from a curly cut she had done and posted on her IG of a person with a similar hair pattern to mine - but my hair is at least two inches shorter than that photo, basically at the nape of my neck. Additionally, she only cut the length and did not shape the top, so I have a weird triangle shape that bunches at the base of my neck because all my layers are now gone. She barely styled my hair. Raked some gel in and half diffused it. Her next appointment showed up while my hair was still being washed, and Stacey told her it'd be about 15 minutes...maybe that's why she finished me up so quickly? I had started the appointment telling her I preferred styling for definition over volume, but I got the opposite. I can overlook a poor styling job, but I am not okay with the cut. It's too short for anyone to fix it, so I'll be rocking a triangle till at least January. If you're looking for a solid curly cut, I'd look elsewhere.
