They have jackets and designs go back 70 years, and can be seen in a number of films of the 1950s and 1960s. The quality is very high, since they use premium smooth leathers, but then so are the prices: expect to pay close to £800 for a jacket. You can buy off-the-peg in the shop (they have a large range of stock there) but they will also make small adjustments to stock sizes if you want a jacket made. This is what I had done when I purchased a jacket eight years ago. You can also order one of the standard designs in a range of colours (including white, yellow, red, and blue) as well as the classic black and brown. Some of the design is also available in suede. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, as he would expect for a premium service.

The store is clearly divided with wearable goods in the front half and stationary goods in the back. Everything out is display only. If you want to purchase something you indicate you would like it and the salesperson eagerly goes to check stock. Once stock is confirmed the salesperson will receive confirmation you want the item and then they will bring it to the counter. They are very particular with this process. And they are hawkish. I never got warm fuzzies from the salespeople who seemed very intense and eager for any sale. They never engaged in pressure sales but once interest was shown they quickly descended with military precision. Our salesperson was efficient and solid, but seemed quickly irritated when he couldn't close a sale immediately especially if a cash register was occupied by another co-worker. We were never in a rush but our salesperson wanted to be done. He hovered by three different machines before one freed up. The merchandise is quite nice! I especially loved the purses which were classy and unique with fantastic colors. I love them! If you want fancy paper or great purses would highly recommend!

The leather jackets are literally made on the shop's premises. The geezer who runs this store is a fully trained Savile Row tailor. Personally, I wouldn't buy a leather jacket from this store, I would rather go to Lewis Leathers on Whitfield Street in Fitzrovia. General Leather Co. do not stock leather accessories, i.e. wallets, bags, and luggages. Only leather garments, I'm afraid.

While visiting a local tailor in London, I asked for a referral to a good leather tailor. The first name he gave me was Cromford. We visited all three referral's he gave us but, were blown away by Cromford and Pauline. I am 6' tall with a 37" sleeve length. As a result, it's almost impossible for me to buy anything off the rack. This is especially so with leather jackets. When I saw the quality of the leather, the workmanship and the names of some of their clientele, it was obvious Cromford Leather was the right choice. So, buying a made to measure leather jacket is not a quick process. We had to head back to the states in 8 days. And, the measuring and fitting process, along with the test fit can't be done within a day or so. Knowing we were on a short schedule, Pauline and team worked to have a test jacket ready for fitment upon our return to London 7 days later. We immediately headed for Cromford upon our return. They had the test garment ready for me. After making some very slight modifications, she confirmed the jacket would be ready to mail to me a few weeks later. Being a very expensive investment, it was a bit nerve wracking to leave London and wait for weeks to receive a jacket that might not fit. The end of the story is I couldn't be happier with the jacket! Perfect Fit!!! Extraordinary quality!! Fantastic leather! I get compliments on the jacket from men and women alike every time I wear it! They may be a bit pricey, but you can't go wrong with Cromford, Pauline and her team! They are worth every penny.

They have a great little collection of items from the home ware collection - coasters, table mats, candles and candle holders. The clothes are just a selection again but I must say they do choose a good selection of dresses, cardigans and skirts.

I could see the logic in Accessorize, Tie Rack, even TM Lewin, but an actual, proper, honest to goodness clothes shop? Hmm. Oh me of little faith. I'm sure I'm not the only person who hoves through Waterloo not so much as a shortcut, but as a stop off on the way from tube or train to bus or taxi home. There, the siren call of shiny things is guaranteed to lure me in. There's a heavy emphasis on party wear that I've never been quite able to work out. I mean, if you're catching a train to a party, you're either wearing what you're going in, or taking it with you, aren't you? The only time the store can (and does) irritate is if you've got three or four people in there with large suitcases. I once asked the security guard if he would watch my case while I just went the other side of a rail (constantly in his full view, I just didn't want to block the aisle!), and was met with a basilisk stare and silence. I took that as a no. By sharp contrast, the till and floor staff are some of the nicest you'll find in a Monsoon anywhere.
