Can you give a negative number? Save your money. Use Chatcbt to file. You get absolutely nothing else for your money I can see. They have a great number of people working for them. Only problem is by the time you get all your records you get nothing for your efforts that chatcbt can't do faster and maybe better. I hired this firm to represent me for my social security disability. August 2016. After 13 months. I was told. To go to work at 8$ a hour. I don't ever write reviews but I have to take the time to give my thanks to Coats & Todd for the time and effort they put into my husband's social security case. Robert Todd represented us and he was amazing. My husband has been unable to work since 2011. He suffers from physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities, most of which there are no definitive tests to prove so we battled Social Security through all the stages of the process up to and including a hearing in 2014, which he lost. I had given up hope when I saw an ad for Coats & Todd and gave them a call. I was very surprised when they said they would take the case since we had already had a hearing. They did explain that the chances of winning were not in our favor but they would work hard to get him approved - and they did!! If you don't mind being connected to a call center (intake department) and given wrong information for the state you live in, they're awesome. The person on the other end of the phone didn't know Texas State law, told me I don't qualify for disability and hung up on me. Sooooooo..... I got a call from the Coats and Todd law firm today. It was Coats calling me. It wasn't a lengthy call as I hung up on him. The reason for the call? The bad review he read on Yelp. Then he asked me a very stupid question. The question. Did you call our firm to voice your concerns? Why would I do that? They already took a shit on me by denying my appeal. They didn't concern themselves with me. They concerned themselves with me because of a bad review only. They obviously don't expect a mentally handicapped individual to write a review. I hate it when their commercial comes on. Their fake sympathy, fake care, fake love, fake humanitarian beliefs. I haven't had a SSDI check in 3 months now. I hate it when they announce something about keeping the lights on and I'm about to be homeless. But they call to hear my concerns because of a bad review. It's a double standard. Also hypocrisy on their part. If you're a human seeking help against powering forces larger than you'll ever be, I suggest never using Coats and Todd. As i got into my 50's my body really started to break down from diabetes & very horrible diabetic neuropathy in both of my feet as well as back pain. I honestly could not work at all. I was turned down twice for disability. Catherine Coats took my case & we got to go in front of a judge to present my case. Afterwards when we left the judge, she whispered to me that " you won" I asked her how she knew that and her reply was "that she had been doing this a long time" Well, she was right! I regret ever contacting Coats and Todd. Catherine Coats is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. I suffer from autism and at the advice of my doctor, I applied for SSDI. I went through the intake process with coats and todd and a few days later, received a letter from Catherine Coats insinuating that I was not disabled and did not have a case. This was even after several doctors and counselors had documented otherwise. I then sent a message to them expressing my dissatisfaction with their response and got a personal phone call from Mrs. Coats. She proceeded to go on a tirade telling me that my condition was not severe and that I am capable of working; all without ever taking the time to learn the details of my case. Again, this contradicts everything my doctors have documented. She said because I have worked in the past, have a masters degree and since many famous people have autism, that automatically means I am not qualified to receive disability benefits. She even stalked my Facebook page and saw where I used to be self-employed (which I am no longer), and said that would also hurt my chances. She also proceeded to give me a lecture on what autism is and is not and told me I was wrong about how my autism affects me. She did all this knowing I am autustic and how such an attack could affect me mentally and emotionally. I would recommend that anyone with a mental disability seeking SSDI steer clear of this law firm. They are wolves in sheeps' clothing. They do not care about you unless they think you can put more money in their pockets. read more

I am normally not one to be critical. I, unfortunately, am home bound and have a television on constantly and seem to be subjected quite often to Coats and Todd ads. These ads have Catherine Coats talking about compassion. Compassion in my case was completely absent. I'm not going to talk about the fact that it took seven years, that's right, seven years to close my case. My disability is terminal cancer. I do find it interesting that after I started challenging their excuses, I had a check in my hand four weeks after the hearing. What I felt the need to comment on is Ms. Coats idea of compassion. When I was in the hospital, one of 4 stays last year totaling over 3 months, I thought about making a change in my representation. I made a call to Ms. Coats office, getting a voice mailbox as usual. I left what I thought to be a very inoquious question. Verbatim the question was: "Do I have any legal or financial obligation to you if I change representation?". I got a call in my hospital room from Catherine Coats herself. As the compassionate person she advertises to be of course she asked how I was, offered to maybe come by the hospital and talk about what might be of concern to me. Maybe she was too busy but said she would call later and talk. After all her firm was already approaching a fee of forty thousand dollars off my case. Unfortunately, none of that happened. Ms. Coats mood was clearly irate and the first words she spoke were: "I hear you're looking for a new lawyer. Good luck with that." She repeated that some phrase "Good luck with that" several times. She also boasted that she was "the best lawyer in Dallas." After listening to her rant for a while I asked if she had listened to the voice mail. She had not. I finally managed to ask my question to which she replied that she most definitely do whatever was needed to get her fee. Again, I am in serious condition in the hospital where I had been that stay for three weeks. I am hoping that I will live long enough to settle my case. I was still in that stay when my hearing was scheduled and I was unable to attend. The attorney from the Coats and Todd firm called me that afternoon saying the case was settled and I got a check in about four weeks. I'm sure Ms. Coats is able to "lawyer talk" around why it took so long. I won't waste time challenging what I believe an excessively long time. I'm just giving my take on compassion. read more

I read the review of Coats and Todd posted by the individual with autism with much interest, as I also have a mental disability. I have to say my experience with Coats and Todd and with Catherine Coats was quite different from what this individual experienced. Catherine Coats did contact me personally and tell me that, because of certain factors in my case, I would have to go through several appeals to receive a disability award from Social Security, which was very discouraging to me. She was very frank, but at no time did she disparage my mental disability. As it turned out, I received a disability award from Social Security on my first try, with no appeals necessary. I have talked with several individuals who have gone through the disability process and have researched the disability process: all the information I gathered indicated that it would be next to impossible to receive disability on the first try, with no appeals. I was not only awarded a monthly income, but also a substantial sum for back pay. I do have an extensive history of treatment for mental illness, but I feel I would not have won my case on the first try without the assistance of the attorneys at Coats and Todd and of their administrative staff. read more
