We have used this Vets for several years, & in the beginning I was happy enough, though not visiting often I had no need to think badly of them,
but when our old Cat was near the end of her life & we had to make several trips with her, I became less enamoured with them, the original Vet we saw was great, Tony I think his name was, but I found every time we took our old girl, we saw a different vet, & not all were as sympathetic, 1 girl in particular I ask never to see again, because even though when taking a 20 year old Cat & knowing that to have her that long is a blessing, you really don't need some youngster telling you, "well at her age, what do you expect", hence why I asked not to see her again.
Roll forward a few years, & we now have a new Cat, strangely she starts to show signs of epilepsy & having owned an epileptic Cat for years, & been through 3 different London vets (due to moving & 1 retiring) ALL of whom agreed with the initial diagnosis & diagnostic/treatment plan of keeping diaries, on length, frequency & what happens during the fit & how quickly they recover, age of onset etc
strange as it was to unknowingly adopt a 2nd epileptic Cat, I knew i was dealing with exactly the same thing, but of course took her to the Vet for a thorough check up, I felt very unsure about the Vets we saw insistence that we put her through the trauma of a general anesthetic & MRI scan, let alone the expense, I did decline as felt it wrong, but was made to feel I was wrong to do so & had to argue my point whilst been made to feel guilty - the same Cat is alive & very healthy a few years later, & has had only 2 fits since, & seems to have stopped - this again is exactly how the pattern of our old Cats true idiopathic epilepsy went, so I am now sure we did the right thing, & the Vet was wrong to insist on an expensive, traumatic & unnecessary scan.
We now also have a new Kitten, first jabs given at the Cats home he came from, took him to Coastways for his second jab only to be told they wouldn't do that, but would have to start his jab programme again from scratch??.... when I argued that I saw no reason for this & didn't see how it could be good for him, I was told it was because it might be a different type of vaccination......to cut a long story short, I really felt the receptionist was more interested in upping the bill, than the welfare of our kitten - same thing over the Programme anti flea jabs, which we have found to be brilliant & cost effective, but they now no longer do.
I'm now looking for a new Vet as its time for our little Mans "snip" & I've lost confidence in this Vet, I want one who puts animal welfare above profit & sadly I don't feel that is the case here at all, hence why I'm reading reviews here, since asking around, I've now also found out that they are one of the most expensive in town, something I hadn't picked up on, due to the way they advertise themselves & moving here from London, where prices are of course higher read more
