Coasters Taphouse, 5675 North Atlantic Avenue, #122, Cocoa Beach, Florida - 4-Stars The Big Boy is back on the grind in 2023. My first stop led me to Cocoa Beach, the home of tourist clip joints and sub-par food. The only restaurant I had ever given high marks to in this spring break wasteland went out of business during the pandemic. Tragic. Although I am an non-believer, a restaurant with excellent food, atmosphere, and service is holy to me. A brilliantly-executed dining establishment is my halidom. It is where I go to worship. At Coasters Taphouse, our waiter came out of the gate awesome and stayed there. Zane is now on my Top 5 Brevard Service List. The menu looked interesting and the food came out beautiful. Check out the pictures of the food and menu. If any of this seems familiar to my South Brevard beachside followers, it is because the popular Coasters Pub & Biergarten on Eau Gallie Boulevard in Indian Harbour Beach is under the same ownership. From the top of that day's Taphouse Food Specials menu, I ordered the Shrimp Dip, described as a sultry, homemade shrimp dip with chopped jumbo shrimp meat, tossed with sautéed veggies & sherry, folded-in cream cheese & baked with shredded cheddar-jack and served with warm pita. If that description didn't make your mouth water, see your dentist. The texture and flavors were executed flawlessly. The pita triangles were warm and soft. Mmm mmm good. Also from the food specials menu was the Coasters Club! When I saw this sandwich, it took me back to the 1980's and Hubbs Pub. Slow-roasted and sliced turkey breast, house-made pastrami, homemade coleslaw and thousand island dressing slapped within triple decker marbled rye. It came with a side and I chose broccoli. Yes, the Big Boy eats his vegetables too. The Elk Burger was the Taphouse's Exotic Burger of the Day. A half pound of elk meat chargrilled to perfection, topped with melted cheddar and beautiful slices of pickle, onion, lettuce and tomato, with a side of fries. Because elk is leaner than beef, I did notice the gamey nature of the meat. However, it was executed flawlessly. Big, thick and flavorful. I really love this spot! The cocktail and tap list are extensive and the cocktail I did try (it was sort of like a moscow mule) was great. The crab cake dinner ($22) was amazing - the cakes were full of lump crab meat, perfectly seasoned and the side mashed potatoes were delicious as well - made with real red-skinned potatoes, not that dehydrated potato stuff! I'll five star review them every chance I get!! We eat here several times a month and are never disappointed. Make sure you check out the weekly specials especially during October for Oktoberfest. Those German meals are exceptional. My husband's favorite is the Beef on Wick sandwich roast beef on a salted Kaiser roll. Or the burger either off the menu or the exotic burger of the week. I tend to enjoy any of their weekly menu just recently had a fabulous Ruben. And the time before that some mahi fingerlings. They also have an extensive choice of craft beers. Check their hours because they are closed on Tuesdays and that gets us sometimes when we forget. read more

I stopped by this place when in the area after a beach day at cocoa beach to grab a drink with a couple friends. It ended up being a great find! I had the mule on tap and loved it - sweet but not too overwhelming and refreshing. My husband tried several of the beers and was a huge fan. They have a large list of draft beers with a lot of variety. I had a German Weiss that was unique and tasty. My husband ordered the burger with blue cheese and I had a couple bites. It was well cooked and came with bacon and a brioche bun, loved the combo! Their burgers are huge and worth the price. We also shared the pimiento cheese dip. It wasn't particularly unique but it sure was tasty and easy to taste. We were impressed with food, drinks, availability of TVs to watch NFL and most of all the service. Great place to grab dinner!! We were a little worried it was going to be busy - we went around 6:30 on a Thursday, but there were plenty of places to sit. Service was super great and our waiter was very attentive. We did not have drinks, but it looked like that had an extensive drink menu. Prices were very fair. I had a turkey club and a generous portion of tater tots which was $10. There was a ton of turkey on my sandwich, and the bacon was cooked perfectly - very delicious sandwich!!! My friend got the taco tatchos which she was also satisfied with (also $10 I believe), I did not try any but they looked super delicious! My friend also ordered the butter beer, which was some sort of butterscotch soda which was super tasty! It looked like they also had some sort of in house made soda that would have been interesting to try. There is also a 'tasting kitchen' menu which I assume changes often, with specials they have. In town and looked on Yelp for a great place to have lunch. Headed to Coasters, which is next to Public Market ( we needed to shop for groceries anyways). And walked inside. We were sat immediately and our drink order was taken promptly. My GF loves grilled cheese and tomato soup, which she ordered and loved. I built my own burger and had a side salad. Food came out in a reasonable time and both dishes were very good. Lots of TVs with sports on and staff was friendly gave good service. read more

We came here on a whim trying to find good food. We struck out at nearly every other place in the area. Well, this place didn't disappoint. It's apparent why they have good reviews. The service was great. It's a nice place, clean. The food was very good. I got the burrito bowl with shrimp. It was light, and refreshing. My husband got the dynamite grilled chicken sandwich. He wished it had been a little bit spicier, but otherwise, it was tender, juicy and delicious. We recommend this place and we'd come back. read more

We were visiting friends, and everyone kept telling us we had to try Coasters. We ordered a variety of food, and not one thing was disappointing. the scallops appetizer was phenomenal, and the Shephards pie was spot on. The meatloaf and Mahi were out of this world. Came here for lunch while visiting Cocoa Beach. The menu was very basic- nothing unique beyond the "special" burger which was the most expensive item on the menu. The beer menu is bland for a "taphouse" and I didn't see anything on the menu that I couldn't get elsewhere. I got the big pretzel, jalapeño burger and a salad and all were forgettable. This place is ALWAYS fresh. Their Buffalo cauliflower is a great appetizer. I always order the beyond burger and/or a burrito bowl with mahi (subbing the rice for lettuce). Their drinks are good and the service constantly checks on you. This restaurant is in a plaza with Publix which is why I think many people drive past it. We stumbled upon this place after trying several other places. We are glad we found it. It has really nice and welcoming decor. The staff were very friendly. The server was very attentive. We tried the fried green tomatoes and they were good. I also got the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was packed with several kinds of cheese and the soup was so good, maybe even the best I have ever had. Husband got the fish and chips and he enjoyed them also. Came into town for the weekend and stopped in here as a our first dinner spot. Atmosphere: The place has a sports bar vibe however, the sound from the televisions was not on. You can probably come here to watch a game but I am guessing that you won't get to listen to it. They have a bar area with high tables and also a normal dining area. Both were very clean with descent lighting. We went for an early dinner since we skipped lunch due to the drive over. Sound quality in the room was great for having conversations. Food: My wife and I both ordered beers. I got a stout beer from Founders which was not great. My wife got a porter and she liked it. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer. I couldn't eat it, there seemed to be way too much garlic in it. For dinner, I ordered the french dip sandwich which was interesting as it was opened on the top and covered with cheese. The sandwich was...meh. My wife ordered the pork knuckle and she said she liked it but her steamed broccoli was overcooked. Service: Service was great, no complaints and nothing to scream about. On the search for new restaurants, we stumbled upon Coasters Taphouse. This area is notorious for tourists since it's so close to the cruise terminal, so I was skeptical at first. Upon arrival, the restaurant is in a newer plaza and the interior is well decorated and has a nice tavern kind of feel. There was self seating and plenty of tables open. There's a ton on the menu! We ended up just ordering wings to share, which I'm completely happy with. They had a great flavor and we added a side of hot on top to juice them up a bit. However once I saw the food come out for the table behind us I was bummed I didn't get more creative with our choice because the mac n' cheese and burger they had looked delicious! (Perhaps next time) I would have to say the only thing off-putting was our server was just super quick to come back and ask us about food and drinks in a rushed kind of way. Also, the ambiance this restaurant has, doesn't go with Motley Crue (girls girls girls) music playing in the background. Overall though, this restaurant was great and definitely sidetracks the raunchy mom and pop seafood joints the area is littered with. Cape Canaveral needed a restaurant like this. read more

Man...how much do you love your Yelp app and our Yelp community...you guys came through yet again... While away for the weekend in this area, I became in need of a good spot for dinner. So I pull up my Yelp app, quick search and Bammm!! Coaster's Tap House shows up. Same drill folks - reviews, check. Price point, check. Food and inside pics, check n check. Let's do this muchachos... Arrive and get seated on time. Server was great - although I don't remember her name...my bad. Ordered drinks first - of course...apps and dinner. All was delivered timely. However let me tell you about their veggie burger - Holy black beans Batman!! This thing was awesome. I'm a carnivore but if I were blind folded and did a taste test i'd never tell the difference. I don't know what kind of vegetable and condiment concoction they mix, but this thing will almost entice you to become a vegetarian - operative word 'almost.... Don't sleep on this one folks... And if you like fries...well...lemme tell you about their garlic Parmesan fries - two words...'Do it'. You can thank me tomorrow after you sleep off the food coma induced sleep. Made reservations a day early, and very happy I did! Friday night dinner at 6:30 and the place is packed. We ordered two large pretzels for our party of 7 people. I an super impressed with the draft list here! I got La Fin du Monde by Delerium on TAP! They have some good craft cocktails as well, and Guiness and a couple other stouts on tap too. There were some food specials and we ordered a couple items! My friend got some sort of trout cheeks (or maybe it was another kind of fish?) Hubs got fish and chips. And I got the seafood mac n cheese with gouda cheese and really big shrimp! It was terrific! My kids got a soup and salad and the other got a tomato bisque and grilled cheese. She wasn't crazy about the grilled cheese because it had pimiento cheese, so the red kinda weirded her out, but all was not lost. I shared my Mac n cheese and it was all good. Challenge accepted. My party and I stopped at this beer menagerie after a hard day of repeatedly getting lost in Florida's "One of a Kind" Ron John Surf Shop. After being seated we were presented with three menu's, beer, specials, and one that I assume covers their everyday offerings. One of my fellow travelers pointed out that this beer garden offered a hot dog, aptly named the home wrecker. Not bothering to think about what a half-pound chili cheese dog could do to a persons lower intestines I ordered the home wrecker and the buffalo cauliflower. The buffalo cauliflower arrived promptly. It was spicy, and not hard (always a plus). Then after our appetizers I was confronted with my destiny, the home wrecker. It was massive. The roll was a 12" sub roll. The dog was about an inch in diameter and 13" long. It was covered in a bean and beef chili, with a healthy splash of beer cheese. I along with my dining companions laughed at the sheer enormity of what had been placed before me. As I dug into that hot tube steak I immediately knew one thing, this was going to be uncomfortable. After slogging my way through a half-pound of cured beef it was time to tackle the "bun.". This was no small feat. Bite by bite I chipped away at the chili cheese logged loaf until it was vanquished. When tackling a sausage of this dimension, taste becomes an afterthought as the long slog through you meal turns to simple work. That said the dog was juicy, and well cooked, my compliments to the chef. After paying the bill, I waddled out the door, secure in the knowledge that I was a champion. Service: Friendly & efficient. I was a little skeptical walking into this place at first but they really surprised me. I've been back on keto for the past few months so having to adjust meals to accommodate my lifestyle is always a drag for me. They were happy to get me a bun less burger which tasted amazing! Coasters has a nice variety of selections on their menu and a large selection of craft beers and wine on tap. I have eaten at Coasters a few times and they consistently serve good food and have superior service. We visited in the evening on Easter and they were very busy as I think they were one of the few places open and still serving meals. We bellied up to the bar and ordered there because they had open seats. The bartender was busy but greeted us immediately and gave us menus. I had to drive home to Orlando or I would have tried the beer or wine sampler. They had a lot of craft beers and wines also on tap. Another patron sitting close to us got the beer sampler and he said that he really liked it. My husband got the coaster club with onion rings and a big kosher pickle. The sandwich was served on rye bread and there was coleslaw on the sandwich. He really enjoyed the generous sandwich but he ended up taking half home. I had the chicken marsala that was on the specials menu. The chicken was cooked to tender and was served over linguine. I really enjoyed the marsala sauce as it was the best I have had in a long time. Just a touch of sweetness with plenty of mushrooms. In the past I have tried their appetizers, soup and salad. The food in this restaurant rises above your typical bar food and offers the variety of a place like Friday's with a much higher quality.
