John Avila and his assistant, Jim, were phenomenal in every way! This past December, our furnace…read more"puffed back" and, in eight minutes, deposited soot throughout our entire house. Thus began the long process of dealing with insurance and professional cleaners, but when it came time to paint, Red Ladder Painting Co made the experience seamless and most enjoyable. John helped us to navigate color choices and paint questions, and to orchestrate the process of preparing each room and its contents for painting. We were lucky that John was able to fit us into his schedule and, as busy as he is, he saw the job through to the end without a hiccup. In addition to their stellar painting skills, John and Jim took great care in sealing off rooms to avoid dust transfer and, each afternoon, they left the spaces clean, neat, and tidy. This was much appreciated, given that we were living in the house during this time. And, during this time of COVID, they took the responsibility of mask-wearing and social-distanting very seriously. In short, John and Jim made our house glow! We would not hesitate to have them back and recommend them without a doubt!

We recently moved to the area to a 150 year old house. Having no references for painters, I…read morecontacted Red Ladder and some others through Yelp. John replied promptly and met us to review the project. He was helpful with his insights about the wallpaper removal and plastering. His estimate was reasonable. He and Jim showed up on time, were quiet (no blaring music or phone calls) and kept the place clean. It being an old house, there were some surprises that John explained to us. All in all, the job was done in a most excellent fashion, the rooms look much improved. We're happy to know the walls are in better shape than when they started. The painting job is so fine, we are entirely pleased. John's estimate was reasonable and his work was excellent. I strongly recommend Red Ladder Painting.

He and his helpers protect existing nearby plantings and shrubberies even if directly under the tree being eliminated or pruned. He even cut trunk/branches to length, allowing us to keep valuable firewood, leaving it to us to split as requested. It's really hard to find a good arborist but Black Dog Tree is the best. Highly recommended. Plus he's just a great guy to deal with. He works hard for his money.

The crew was obviously very experienced and they located the tank carefully and quickly. They then installed concrete risers to set the clean out covers less than a foot from the surface (the tank was down deep because the lot was regraded 3 years ago by the prior owner to build the new lake house. So, now I can easily uncover and pump out the tank when necessary. The crew of two were great guys as well and did all that I asked and expected. I highly recommend M E Astbury & Son and will use them again for sure.
