An amazing collection of shark teeth plus all the gear you could need (and want). Dive day - meet at the dock. Concierge service getting our gear to the boat. LOVED the all girl crew! Capable, assertive, knowledgeable - I felt secure in their hands. Dive was epic!!! Crew explained how to get off and on the boat to begin and end the dive. Guidelines were given and a wreck reel used so we were always on the dive site. SO much to see! This experience was a highlight of our trip to SC! read more

I was thoroughly impressed with Coastal Scuba Dive Shop. The staff of instructors and dive masters were very friendly and professional. They took care of all the gear before, during, and after the dive. That included cleaning the BCD, wetsuit, and regs. Additionally the owner was very accommodating for me when I was not able to make my 2nd charter due to catching a cold. Summer colds are the worst. read more

Just going to say my experience closely mirrored that of the other 1 star review from the master diver. I would just add that one of the crew was constantly popping nicotine gum. Probably the most single stressful experiences of my life and left me hyper ventilating and had to abort my dive. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this before. More concerned as I had a couple of youth with me on this dive. Pretty horrible experience for me. Wish I would have read the reviews here first. I can't recommend these guys. read more

WOULD HAVE EASILY BEEN 5 STARS BUT.... Husband and I are avid (obsessed) sharks teeth hunters every summer when coming to Myrtle beach and have done a couple of fossil expeditions (both MB and Charleston) and while we initially weren't thinking we'd enjoy digging a bucket, the idea grew on us and we headed here yesterday afternoon and purchased the "Great White" tiered bucket and sat at a table with a sifter between us and let the employee out there with us (to help/answer questions etc) know we were seasoned hunters and she could chill. We dug, sifted through, cleaned, and were in absolute heaven pulling teeth (Meg included) and fossilized bones out. We were supposed to get a whole Meg tooth in our bucket and when it wasn't in there...things happen and the owner (I think) made it right (after a brief awkward moment with our "assigned employee" but more on that later) We enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to purchase a second smaller 2 gallon bucket and here's where things lost that 5th star above as we felt like this annoyed our "girl" and here's why: I went inside to purchase the smaller bucket and the female employee out with us asked if I was purchasing, seemed very annoyed and then complained to my husband that she'd now be there all day. She then spoke about how they'd scheduled multiple groups at 5:00 and had extended hours and how she wished money just grew on trees. When pointing out there wasn't a whole Meg tooth she came across with an "oh well" kind of attitude until I asked if they'd make it right (which they did and I will say EVERYONE ELSE we came in contact with was absolutely top notch!) A family next to us had a similar problem and a there was a similar interaction. Additionally, our second bucket was wet and mucky while our first was dry. Not a huge deal as we still hit the jackpot and we will still be back! Just kind of a bad impression especially when the employee hopes to study marine biology. I hate to complain but we felt uncomfortable and rushed through our second bucket. read more

Came here for the shark tooth adventure. Absolutely wanted $40. We dug through a bucket of mud and got 5 intact "shark teeth" all less than 1". Got 7 black rocks they claim are fragments of megaladon teeth and 4 supposed fragments of great white teeth. Don't waste your money. It's a bust! They promised me we could make jewelry with the teeth we got but everything is too small. Very disappointed. read more

The shop was great, pre-dive service was great, Brittany the one instructor we met was also very professional and polite. Other than that, it was not a good experience. The captain and the primary dive master were terrible. We are both every experienced divers and they were barking orders at us like we were military recruits. The captain had trouble finding the dive site. Which cut into the dive time, because "we have to be back for a fishing charter". Which we heard multiple times. Also both the captain and the divemaster walked around shirtless even though neither got in the water, very unprofessional. The divemaster pushed everyone in the water, and was instructing everyone how to roll in, where to put their hands, he even grabbed my inflator hose and added more air to my bcd as I was about to roll in. I am NOT a trainee, I didn't want more air in my BCD, and I want to hold my mask the way I want to. I know how to do it, I didn't sign up for a lesson! Then when we surfaced, he is screaming "inflate your BC". We know, we had our BCs inflated. They insisted everyone put their fins on their wrists, instead of leaning over and taking the fins from the divers hand like most dive boats. My dive buddy has full foot fins, and yet the divemaster is screaming at her to put them on her wrist. In the water, she has to take out her regulator to respond and tell him they are full foot. Then he responds with "oh then just hand them up". Again, unprofessional and unsafe! It was so bad. As I am coming up the ladder, it was slightly choppy so I was taking my time and looking down. He is again screaming "you got to get your feet under you" yeah I know how to board! I am a SSI Master Diver and my dive buddy is an Advanced Open Water diver. We are not "know it alls" but we certainly are not new divers. This was also happening to everyone, not just us. It was a great site, ruined by a very unprofessional crew. Costal Scuba by far is my favorite dive shop. I've been to a couple in California and a couple in Raleigh. Prices are reasonable, and customer service is great. My first dive was canceled due to weather conditions, but they called me before my two hour drive. I was thankful, and they rescheduled for a later date. The employees are honest and helpful. A diver accidentally ripped his dive mask strap, a dive ending situation. One of the attentive employees noticed, and loaned him one at no extra cost. My second trip with them, someone's high pressure line started to leak. One of the employees brought out a spare part, and installed it for the diver. I'm definitely pleased, and I am going to continue to dive with them. If you do not have a dive buddy they will pair you up with someone, so don't use that excuse to not dive. I signed up for the enriched air diver course, so that I can dive there deeper dives sites. If I could make a recommendation, it would be to sale snacks. I keep forgetting mine. They do have complimentary water. In addition, bring money for a tip. Which they definitely have earned. read more

I had a great time diving with Coastal Scuba. I never felt any of the issues the other reviews complained about. I never felt rushed, felt they were serious about safety and the crew was always attentive and helpful. I'll gladly dive with them every time I'm in Myrtle Beach UPDATE: I have had 30 dives with various dive tour operators. Coastal Scuba continues to be near the top of that list. No other dive operation that I've used sets up your gear for your 2nd dive and actually rinses/cleans everything for you on the ride back. At first i was a little bit irritated because i scheduled a scuba refresher course then the night before i had to reschedule it due to a miss understanding with booking a pool for our class. It was just frustrating because i did have to take time off of work but accidents happen, it wasn't the end of the world. When i got to the class with my father we had interacted with Brittany and i believe Gina? Or something like that but they both were amazing! I would definitely recommend to all my coworkers/family/friends they were very professional made sure that everyone was doing good made my father and i feel very comfortable. I'm working towards my PADI scuba certification and I have been using Coastal Scuba. I've been really impressed to date. I called with about 2 weeks notice that I'd like to get certified. I spoke with several members of the staff and we came to the conclusion that in the time I had at the beach I could get 85% of my work completed. Perfect! They registered me to complete my class work online with PADI, which though it is a more expensive option, for me and my style of learning and my limited time it was the best option. I completed all my work and tests at home before ever stepping foot into the shop. I showed up for my confined water dives, (which we did at the local aquatics center due to cold weather. ) and they had me take another quick quiz- no big deal, I'd actually done the course work so I was prepared, fill out some paperwork and off we went! My instructor Janine was GREAT! She led us through all the required exercises, gave us tips and made me feel confident in the skills I had learned online and then tested in the pool. I feel very confident moving forward to the Open Water portion. I had the option to complete my first two open water dives today, but due to the cold water of the Atlantic Ocean, I've chosen to postpone. I'll either return to the beach and knock out my open water dives in the next couple weeks, or they can write me a referral and I can complete them elsewhere. I really can't say enough about the flexibility they have afforded me. Our schedule is always packed and it simply would not have been possible for me to complete a dive certification program in the traditional method of classes and pool time that was spread out over several weeks. I also purchased some gear from Coastal Scuba. They have a nice selection in both color and price for basics like I purchased- mask, snorkel, fins. Plus they also all the other technical gear you need to Scuba. They don't just do Scuba! They offer fishing trips, mermaid parties, snorkeling, etc. I recommend calling and speaking to them or checking out their website. read more

We found Coastal Scuba on Yelp and went on a wreck dive with them. Wow, what an amazing crew! They are cheerful, hard working, and 100% focused in giving their divers a safe and fun experience! The boat is large and comfortable, and Captain Robert is great. The safety line system he uses under the boat makes the dive descents and ascents easy. The dive masters really put in a lot of effort to keep things moving safely and organized. We will absolutely use them again next time we're in town! read more

I don't really write reviews but I just have to this time and let me tell you... what a GREAT group of people they have there! Starting with Christine who took me through the intro to scuba with the most patience, T.J. and John who took their time to deal with my freak outs and inhibitions and my near inability to let go of all the control to let them teach me things; and Brittany who had the "pleasure" (or the horrific experience of taking me down in the ocean for the first time...lol). They were more than patient and accommodating with my panic attacks and questioning myself every few minutes. The staff made the call to not take my out on the rough sea to not scare and scar me before I become comfortable with the ocean....I can't sing them all enough praises because the experience was great and I can't wait to get back on the water to finish my dives and to get my open water diver certification. The wife and I both got our open water certifications through costal scuba and couldn't be happier. First off we did our e-learning at home before we came down on vacation and everyone we spoke to to set up the class were so helpful and helped us set up our confined water pool dives to coincide with our vacation arrival. Fletch and christine were awesome instructors for our pool dives. Had great teaching techniques and so patient made doing the skills and training easy to grasp and understand. Janine was our open water dive instructor. Cant say enough about her, great teacher, so enthusiastic about seeing her students become divers, even took pics of us diving for us on her camera. The entire crew was phenomenal, Tab, Sara,Brittany, Spencer, and Captain Rob (and anyone I may have missed) were so knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. And let's not forget Cameron, the man who we saw everywhere, in the shop, on the boat, in the water, the man is everywhere. An all round awesome experience and we can't wait to see everyone again on our next dive! read more

The crew is very disorganized and on the two trips I have gone on with them I have found the crew to be unpleasant/ not happy people. My biggest concern was safety. A brief review of the wreck was a crude drawing and very limited info on dive safety issues (using guide lines to the wreck was essentially it). Whether you have over 300 dives or 2 dives in your log book safety has to be constantly reinforced and discussed. On one dive I had my dive buddy wander off in water that was 7ft visibility (the charleston tug 61 feet). I stayed put thinking he would realize his mistake and circle back. He didn't. After waiting 2 minutes I circled the tug looking for him and air bubbles - didn't find him. I aborted my dive to notify the crew and when I I got back to the surface my dive buddy was on the boat. He apparently burned thru 2200 lbs very quickly and didn't think it necessary to let me know). I always do pre dive planning with my dive buddy (signals, awareness of each other's air pressure, tablet on my BC for sharing info) and my experience with many other dive companies is that the dive master will provide wreck/reef insights and reinforce safety - for the new divers as well as all others on board. Situational awareness is critical. I will not be diving with them again. read more

We used costal scuba on 17 June 2016 to get me a refresher on my diving skills after many years without a dive and for my teenage son to do the discover scuba class before he starts his open water certification this month to get more comfortable with it. Cameron was our instructor and he did a great job with me. He also did a great job with my son and another kid who is 10 years old. So Cameron did very well dealing with an adult like me, a teen, and a 10 year old. He also responded immediately to a difficulty I was having and I was very impressed that he recognized I was having an issue without even signaling for help. He was there within moments helping me out. I ended up doing the PADI Reactivate program with them and they asked for less money (Much less) than other dive shops back at home. The staff were all very helpful and seemed knowledgeable. Janine was one of the best to deal with. I highly recommend this PADI outfit. read more

Part of Little River Fishing Fleet as they have multiple boats that run diving and fishing trips. Went out on 1/2 day private charter while on vacation with family and friends (5 adults and 4 kids ranging 10-13 yrs old). we had a great time and were very entertained by the crew (JT and Russ). everyone with a pole in water was pulling up fish fairly consistently though mostly smaller Sea Bass that were non-keepers. The kids were kept busy fishing and entertained by crew. Caught our boat limit of Shark which we had a great time pulling in and taking pictures. The crew cleaned the fish when we got back to dock and we took home about 8 lbs of fish which we grilled that night. Fantastic day overall. read more
