Located few minutes away from one of my favorite beaches, this is the coolest souvenir shop I've been to so far. Beach lovers -- you won't be disappointed. Huge shop with plenty of options to pick from. I spent a good 45 minutes going through every other cute keychain, fridge magnet and mementos for Sunset Beach, NC. The person at the counter provided me with souvenir recommendations for Kindred Spirits mailbox as well. Tried to make an exchange of a $60 cart I purchased the day before that didn't work as advertised, and was told not only that I couldn't but the manager/owner told me to leave when I asked to see the return/exchange policy. Walked in because online it said they close at 11 everyday, walked in and asked what time they close just to make sure and the young girl said "UM WE ARE CLOSED NOW" with a bad attitude...It was 9:15pm the door was propped open and the open sign was lit up. And there was a man sitting outside that the lady inside said he owned it and he watched all 5 of us get out of our car and walk in and never told us they are closed. read more

I was also told no refunds, only exchanges. My reason for returning was that both items were damaged. One soiled and another had a seam unraveling. Just very very poor quality. If it ever happens again (likely won't as I don't ever expect to spend here again) I'll just call the credit card company and dispute the charge. The no refund policy can't hold up. Owner is rude and girl behind the counter has horrible attitude with no customer service skills whatsoever. She was extremely rude and could care less if customers shop there or elsewhere. I noticed a Salt Life shirt was orginally marked $26.00 from manufacturer and they put a "sale" sticker priced $28.00 to cover the original price. When I questioned them the owner said they mark up and to deal with it. I stated simply that I could go to Salt Life and get it cheaper. The girl then tells me to "go shop at Salt Life then". We have owned a home in Sunset Beach for over 20 years and this is by far the worse customer service I have ever had in my life. This shop is only a few blocks from our home however we will be making the extra drive over the bridge to the island for better customer service from now on. Customer Service is terrible and people are extremely rude. We checked the time they were open until and it said 11:00 so we decided to go around 10:00. All open signs and everything were on when we arrived. When we got there we were browsing for about 5-10 minutes and we were getting a bunch of nasty looks from the workers. The employees told us that they closed in five minutes in a very rude manner and practically pushed all of the customers out of the store. I picked up a shirt to look at it and folded it the best I could, the lady working in the store gave me a nasty look and began to refold every item. I have been coming to this area for a couple years now and every time I go in that store all of the people working are super nasty towards customers. I do not recommend coming here, this time was my last straw with this place. WOWWWWW!! I am absolutely SHOCKED to see such horrible reviews for this store. I have been vacationing yearly in Sunset Beach for a decade and have been shopping there since they opened. I actually look forward to shopping there every year. I just know I'm going to go in there at least once, if not twice, during the week to get some cool finds. In fact, the only other place I visit more than the beach while I am there is the little Food Lion down the road. That is how much I LOVE this place. I was there three times this week alone and all three times were great. The first trip of the week was to get some new swim trunks for hubs who lost some weight and his current ones were way too big and falling off in the ocean. I checked Callahan's in the heart of Calabash (you just HAVE to say it that way if you've heard their ads enough) first and they wanted FIFTY FIVE dollars for a pair of trunks. I knew Coastal Outfitters would be MUCH cheaper. I ended up getting two pair for less than that. Probably around $50 when you factor the tax and credit card fee. I specifically asked the person checking me out about the return policy because I knew there would be a strong chance of me having to come back because they didn't fit. They responded with we do exchanges. Hey I get that. You're a small business who bought a product to sell at a profit. That is how consumerism works when shopping locally, not a some giant conglomerate like Amazon who just instantaneously gives you your money back with no questions asked. As I suspected, the new trunk were a touch too small for hubs so back to C.O. I go. I walked up to the counter and said I have to do an exchange and asked how it was to be done. The guy at the counter said just make sure it's the same price. I selected two new trunks a size larger and brought them up to the counter. I do believe it was the owner who did my exchange. He asked how many are you exchanging? I said two. He said okay and took the old ones out of my bag. He just asked for the hangers back. I put the new ones in the bag and just headed on my way. It was seriously the easiest exchange I have ever done. Please do not let other people's bad experiences sway you from checking this place out. I've worked in customer service my whole life and there are always three sides to a story: yours, theirs' and the truth. The worst beach store I have ever been too. I've bought swimsuits and beach accessories from here in the past but after today I will NEVER be back. The worker/ manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. I purchased a pair of sunglasses that were $70 and wore them for all of 30 minutes because the shades sucked and didn't block the sun. I went back in to return them and was told that I couldn't but I could pick out something else. This annoyed me because I had just purchased them and was not told about this policy, it's just in fine print at the bottom of the receipt. I was telling my grandmother how I can't believe I can't get a refund because I literally just bought them. The worker then came over from behind the counter and started yelling at us that we can get out the store that he don't need our money that the policy is the policy. I was confused at his anger and told him he was being very rude and unprofessional he said he didn't care that it's his store. Makes me upset that I've been giving my money to this store to then realize how big of a POS the management is. read more

Anyone patronizing this store and using a credit card should save your receipt to compare with your statement. They are reporting larger amounts to your credit card company than show on your receipt. Just another small scale ripoff. They assume you will not contest the extra amount (less than a dollar?) which becomes excess profit, not likely reported to the IRS. read more

This isn't your typical beach trinket store. They carry some high end shoes like Reef, Teva, Rainbow, etc. they also have a large selection of swimwear. They carry Tommy Bahama, Columbia, Nike, Under Armour and some others in addition to your typical beach trinkets. They have a little bit of everything from cheap "it'll do" towels to the really nice plush ones that will last you for years. The prices are reasonable but the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I didn't feel that the staff was that friendly. I only went once about a month ago and maybe they were having an off day, but we come here often and I'll be going back. They also have a larger than normal collection of names on souvenirs. Every time I go somewhere they never have my name on stuff, but I look anyway. This place had my name in just about everything they carried, so that got me excited. I was also able to get gifts for friends who can also never find their names. It's still worth checking this place out even if the staff doesn't give you the warm fuzzies. They don't hassle you but answer your questions, they just don't go out of their way...and that doesn't bother me too much. read more

My friends and I had every intent of patronizing this store mostly because their are so few stores in the area to purchase beach gear. The sales people were horrible when you could find one and then we noticed the TRUMP 2020 banner. When we saw that they posted their political preference we put down the items we were going to purchase ($700 to $800 worth of stuff) and walked out. On top of that we have numerous other friends who we told about the Trump 2020 banner who were going to purchase several items (about 12 people) but now won't go near the store. So I would say the store probably lost about $3000 to $4000 worth of business just because they feel the need to show their support for a con man. Great marketing technique. read more

I was in your store located at Sunset Beach, North Carolina. First, I love Salt Life gear and your sun-resistant fishing shirts. The Salt Life brand is even in the middle of my car's rear window. My issue is this...the store had a big display selling Trump for president hats, cups, and other things. I immediately put my $200+ purchase on the counter and left the store. Horrible customer (refusal of) service, highly suspect it was discriminatory since my friend isn't white enough. She asked for change for the vending machine and he pretended he couldn't open the till, while his buddy chuckled at that back behind him. The level of service is dependent on the person working the register. If it is the guy with the beard and mustache, turn around and walk out, he is very unfriendly and unprofessional. There is another gentleman with grey hair that is absolutely wonderful, and always remembers his regular local customers. read more

**Warning** EXTREMELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. When making a purchase that totaled over $200, I made sure to ask the female employee if I could come back the following day to return the two bathing suits that did not fit my daughter who wasn't with me at the time. She assured me that yes, it was not a problem. The next day when I returned to the store, the owner of the store became angrier and angrier when I tried to explain that the female employee had assured me I could get a refund. He said he "didn't like my attitude" and yelled that the reason they don't allow returns is because "it's a waste of time". He began writing up a ticket for store credit, and when I told him I would never be returning to his store after this experience, he says, "oh, you want to take it to the next level?" He then proceeded to shove the bathing suits back across the counter and refused to give me store credit. As I stood there dumbfounded, he threatened to remove me from the store. This was in front of my 3 children. I have never experienced such rude behavior from management in my life. My husband and I were on a short vacation to the beach for my birthday. We wanted to look for a shop to buy some t shirts. We saw all the open signs on so we parked. We walked up to the door at 9:02 all three open signs were on. The doors were locked. Someone drove up in a truck. As we were walking to our car he unlocked the door to the store. Totally agree with the other reviewers on here. I visited this store when it first opened a couple of years ago--bad experience. I stood at the checkout and waited and waited and waited while a guy completely ignored me. I actually had the thought "is this guy ignoring me because I'm a woman". I went in again around Memorial day to give it another try and same bad shopping experience. Shop somewhere else on the island. This store is a total rip off. Went there on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Specifically asked for children's items that were on sale. No children's items were on sale even though window signs advertised 30-50% off throughout the store. Made a 46 dollar purchase. On two full priced items. Had to return to store on Black Friday morning to have security tag removed from one item. The store was having Black Friday 50% off everything. They refused to exchange or adjust the purchases I had made less than 48 hours earlier in order to benefit from the sale. store clerk said there was nothing they could do for me. They told me to call the corporate offices. Bah humbug. Not a good place for locals and visitors should be dissuaded from shopping in this rip off store. Many more choices in the area. read more
