Judy and Ed, the owners, held the door open for us as we approached the entrance. The lobby had beautiful chandeliers and fall decor. We pleasantly chatted about how similar MN and ME are with them as we checked in. We received a pair of actual keys to our room, which was a refreshing escape from electronic this and selfie that. Since we were only in town for a night, we stayed in a double-queen room instead of a full suite. We had our own separate entrance to the room from our own private patio area, which made it feel like we were entering a vacation home. Every detail in the room was luxurious. From the Bose stereo playing jazz, to the fireplace, to the ornate furniture, to THE most comfortable bed and pillows, to the hardwood hallway leading to the large bathroom with light dimmers. In the morning, they set-up a wonderful breakfast in-room for us: spinach-feta frittata, spring salad, fruit salad, blueberry-lemon pound cake, OJ, and coffee. Having to check out and leave really sucked. Additional info: Must book weeks in advance, as they only have 8 rooms. Park in the front to check-in, then you can re-park in the private lot in the back. They are right next to the Co-op and within walking distance of basically everything in town!

During that time, we have gotten all of our rentals through Camden Accommodations and could not be happier with the service we've received. Both in terms of finding places and during our stay, Barbara Heard and her staff have been professional, very responsive, courteous and helpful with every interaction we have had. The properties have always been ready for us on our arrival and the check-in and check-out have always been smooth. Over these past 11 years, we have stayed in 3 different properties, and, in each case, we have found the properties wonderfully maintained and well serviced by Camden Accommodations. Any maintenance issues with the properties or homes have been dealt with promptly and effectively through our contact with Barbara and her staff (even available "after hours" through a "live" contact person). When service people needed to come to the houses, the agency has gone out of its way to ensure that appointments were made to be convenient for us. We'll be returning to mid-coast Maine this coming fall, into a new property. We, again, found a house through Camden Accommodations and Barbara and her staff were most accommodating in helping us locate a house to deal with some more specific needs we have this year. We look forward to a continued wonderful relationship. If you're looking for staying in mid-coast Maine, we highly recommend working through Camden Accommodations for your property. We don't believe you can go wrong!!!

We previously rented Osprey Oasis through Cottage Connection, had an excellent experience, and left a 5-star review. Linekin Log Cabin has spectacular views and a beautiful setting, but unfortunately our experience with the condition of this property was very different. We communicated significant issues to Cottage Connection as they arose and a detailed account with photos after returning home. Thus, Cottage Connection is fully aware of these concerns. We strongly recommend confirming before booking Linekin Log Cabin: * All windows are operable and the cabin can be adequately ventilated during warm weather * The ventilation fan is functioning * Water leaks in the downstairs bedroom has been repaired * The washer functions * Exterior lighting/access have been addressed * Gaps between logs allowing insects inside have been repaired * If anyone has mobility limitations, clarification on the downstairs bedroom configuration and exterior access to the main living area Here's why: Upon arrive, the cabin was completely closed up and extremely hot. Multiple windows were nailed or painted shut. Large skylights introduced considerable direct sunlight and heat but could not be opened. The ventilation fan high above the kitchen sink was disabled. Despite using 6 fans (2 at the cabin + 4 we brought) with every available window and open deck door, the cabin became extremely hot. While out, our crated dogs ended up beneath direct sunlight through the skylights. Upon return, a laptop had overheated even though it was cooler outside than inside. We contacted Cottage Connection about the windows that morning, but no one came. Upon return we called again, and maintenance opened several windows, including one they sawed open. Following additional concerns, they returned and opened all but one. Thereafter, conditions improved. To clarify, we were not concerned about the hot weather, but rather the cabin's lack of adequate ventilation. Maintenance told us some windows had been deliberately nailed or painted shut and he recommended the owner replace them for years. Several neighbors unsolicited comments suggest heat/ventilation problems were longstanding; when one first greeted us, one of his first comments was, "I hope you brought lots of fans." The property is advertised as dog-friendly. When we expressed concern about safely leaving our dogs crated in the heat, one suggestion was placing them in doggie daycare. That wasn't feasible for our dogs. Opening additional windows ultimately improved the problem. Other issues include: 2 smoke alarms activating at approximately 1 a.m. one night. We called 911 and were instructed to evacuate. The fire department found no fire or dangerous air condition. During subsequent thunderstorms, water entered the downstairs bedroom twice. The washer also did not work. Anyone traveling with older adults or people with mobility limitations should ask questions about access. The approach is narrow and uneven with very limited exterior lighting; responding firefighters had difficulty navigating at night. The downstairs bedroom is separated from the main living area, requiring going outside and upstairs. A bathroom represented as a full at the time we booked was a 3/4 bath with a shower that would be unsafe for our elderly family members. We ultimately arranged a nearby hotel for them at our own expense. There are gaps between logs large enough to allow daylight and insects through. Cottage Connection staff were courteous, and their interventions improved the ventilation problem. Our 2-star review reflects the cumulative effect and amount of our vacation spent managing property problems. We wish this information had been available before booking. Our purpose in sharing it is to help prospective renters confirm these documented issues have been addressed before deciding whether Linekin Log Cabin is right for them.

I've got a home in downeast Maine that I couldn't sell when I moved away thanks to our good friend…read morethe Housing Market. I rented it out several times; each experience and set of tenants was worse than the previous. So, not only did I give up on trying to sell it, I also gave up on trying to RENT it because people are douches and don't give a shit about anything that isn't theirs. But then I had a friend who needed a place in a pinch so I let him move in and make repairs/improvements instead of paying rent. He got the place looking mighty fine and when he moved out, I got to thinking about how horribly a Maine winter can treat a structure that's not occupied. Things freeze and warp, snow builds up on the roof and can push the walls into the floor, then when Mud Season rolls around, moisture builds up and mold grows and mice come in and all manner of Bad News will occur. Maybe the pain and tribulation of renting it out would be worth it just to keep the place from falling apart? Then I got the bright idea of looking into a property manager -- someone who could take care of shit for me because really, I'm 3500 miles away and 3 hours behind....I don't give a rat's ass if a light bulb blows or the toilet won't flush. I don't want to deal with it. So I called around and found Knowles Agency. Out of everyone I spoke to in the area, these guys were the friendliest and most on-the-ball. For a commission of 12% (per month's rent) and nothing up front, they will not only locate and screen new tenants, they will draw up a lease, manage the property, collect rent & security deposit, and deal with any issues that come up. Amazeballs! More than worth it! I've had the pleasure of working with Sandi, Kate, and Lynn -- all three have been absolutely wonderful, incredibly helpful, and knowledgeable. I know my place is now in good hands and I don't have to worry any more. What a relief!!
