While I was exploring the Battery, I found the Coast Guard Memorial right near the Staten Island Ferry. This is a granite and bronze monument dedicated to the men and women of the United States Coast Guard who served during World War II.
The memorial is located in Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan overlooking New York Harbor. The memorial is close to the waters where service members embarked on rescue, defense, and operations during the war.
At the center of the bronze statue shows coast guard personnel in action, rescuing and safeguarding the nation. Inscribed on the stone are names of the Coast Guard members who served during World War II.
There was a lot of information available at the Coast Guard Memorial. It's easy to find as well if you're in the battery and just passing the Staten Island Ferry. It's right along the coast near the water. read more
