The hygienist jokingly said I wasted 10 minutes when I was asking questions about the procedure of my cleaning. I didn't appreciate either of these interactions. I wasn't able to get a cleaning here because their sucker wasn't working. I didn't get a very professional and good impression. However, the manager was able to get my x-ray information transferred to where I needed it to in a timely manner. She did follow through on this. read more

SCAM ALERT! I have previously had regular dental care, including periodontal exams at reputable dentist in Pennsylvania. I just moved to Tallahassee and my insurance (MetLife for state employees) had Coast listed as a covered provider. The dental hygienist did the MOST AGGRESSIVE periodontal exam I have ever experienced, claiming many readings of 4, 5, and 6 when all of my previous exams have shown only a few 3s and 4s (prompting a "watch" in future visits, but no treatment). They also took way more X-rays than any previous dental visit, some of which were not reimbursable by insurance. The dentist was a Telehealth visit at the end for a couple of minutes to recommend a periodontal treatment plan due to significant periodontal disease and signs of bone loss. Cost: $2,383, of which insurance would cover $520 and I would have to pay $1,863. out of pocket. I sought a second opinion with Dr. Erin Shiveler in Tallahassee. Exam showed mild periodontal disease as in my previous dental visits in Pennsylvania with no need for any treatment!!! Despite having a pleasant interaction with the dental hygienist, the office manager's behavior was unprofessional and rude. BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!!!!!! I had to go in for an emergency root canal 7 months ago. Three months after my appointment, I received a message saying I owed $400+. Turns out they didn't submit the claim correctly to my insurance and needed to resubmit. Even though I called the office multiple times and provided my information, they never did and somehow the amount went up to $700+ mysteriously. Not only that, the root canal got infected since it was done poorly and they entertained me for 2 weeks+ without checking me out because they refused to let me know if they would cover the cost of fixing it and even though I tried to schedule appointments they cancel or reschedule my appointments the morning of. I have tried calling every single number, including the one on the other reviews saying to contact their "quality assurance" team (it's not true, it's just another call center dead end). After lots of insistence today at the office and waiting almost two hours after my appointment time, I was told that they cannot treat me because of the balance that I owe, since my claims were never resubmitted, and they actually told me I now "owe" $900 because there is a second claim they never told me about that wasn't done with my insurance. I am in shock at the rudeness, lack of sensibility and concern of all this staff. All of my appointments with them took place between September-January and now, in July they still haven't dealt with these claims, even though I even went in person to give them my insurance information written down since they won't listen over the phone. I even requested my dental records and x-rays and didn't receive them, which is illegal, as I am entitled to request them and filled out the required form. the office prefers to openly ignore me even if I'm there sitting for hours waiting for answers they never give. I tried giving this place a second chance after being a patient YEARS ago and it is still the same issues. I arrived to my first appointment the chairs are still ripped and old like 10 years ago. My appointment was at 8 am and I arrived and was told it was at 9 am even though the text confirmed 8 am. I was not informed it had changed. When you call to make an appointment you are going through a 3rd party foreign person you aren't speaking to the office staff. The wait times are the same, extremely long. Will not be returning after this, I will fax my paperwork over to one of the other dentist who accept my insurance. I have been a patient of Coast Dental my whole life, well over 30 years. The quality of care has sometimes been in question, but I have stayed because of my history and having been to no other dentists in my life. During my Feb 2025 appt, I was mistreated by the front office staff so badly to the point that I can never return. In fact, they yelled at me as I was walking out the door. This is due to me asking to be seen at my appointed time (8:00 am) rather than waiting until after their "staff huddle", which in my experience lasts longer than I was willing to stay. Yes, this has happened to me on multiple occasions at this establishment and I have waited in the past. At my Feb appt, I couldn't wait. I asked to reschedule and was told to "sit down and wait". It started with the first dental appointment I've had in ages and was expecting to get my teeth cleaned. I got there on time, 8:01, three other people filed in behind me and we waited... and we waited. 30 minutes went by and a lady sitting across from me got up to ask what was taking so long because she has a job she has to get back to it while they're all sitting around there behind the glass doing nothing and they shouldn't schedule appointments when they had other things to do. She was told they had a meeting that went over and after that, she was admitted immediately. The rest of us were admitted within minutes. I saw the lady who put up a fuss and thanked her, but then the manager suddenly appeared, got up in my face and said that I shouldn't have thanked her before she had a chance to apologize because I didn't know the content of their conversation (?!). She went on to play the victim and when I asked her what the delay was, she said there was an emergency to handle, and when I asked what that was, she said that she wasn't at liberty to say. Just to get it over with. I told her that her apology was accepted and went on to the examination room. My attendant said that with insurance, my bill would be somewhere up near $200, to which I protested, so she said OK we don't have to do the oral cancer screen today but it'll still be around $50. (Why do I need a cancer screen?) I told her that's about all I had to last me for the next five days so she said sorry, we'll have to reschedule, which we did. After I got home, I decided that I did not want to go back to that place ever again and called the number on my insurance card to cancel my appointment and told the agent why. She was very good and very understanding and said she would report this. I later discovered that this dental clinic has a 1.5 on yelp. Go figure. They had better not charge me for a no-show. Avoid Coast Dental if at all possible!! I've had issues with Coast dental in the past but was having a hard time finding a dentist close to home so crossed my fingers and gave them a 2nd chance. After waiting 45 minutes to get into the chair, they did 2 sets of xrays when insurance only covers 1, and the probe numbers were off the chart, different from any I've had in the past. There wasn't a dentist in the office, so they pull up one on a television who recommends $2500 for a deep cleaning. Then I didn't get the cleaning I came in to get. So after about an hour and a half I leave with a $109 bill, no cleaning and a recommendation for an additional $2500 in work. So the next week I schedule a check up with another dentist in town, my probe readings are normal, they do the cleaning, and I walk out with a $44 bill. I don't know if Coast has faulty instruments, poorly trained staff, or are just padding the bill, but save your money and a lot of grief and avoid this office. read more

Regrettably, I didn't read the reviews on this "in-network" dental facility. I assumed if Delta Dental has it as a "recommended" place, it could be trusted. I'm not going to say the place was "dirty", let's just say "dingey". Waiting room hadn't been swept or vacuumed prior to opening. Three clerks at reception, each telling me something different regarding ID and insurance cards (already on file prior to appt). It was "mandatory" to take X-rays, as my previous dentist allegedly hadn't sent them over as a courtesy. The technician taking xrays repeatedly jammed the device into my lower and upper palate causing me pain even after I said she was not taking enough caution. Then came the "bone measurements". I'm in my 70's and have ALWAYS had 3 & 4's and the occasional 5's. Coast Dental somehow got a few 4's but predominantly 5's and 6's. This led to a recommended and necessary "deep cleaning" for (ready?) $3500 due to $60 anti-bacterial shots (inside AND outside each tooth). I declined. I returned to my out-of-network dentist for a "2nd opinion" on the measurements and, guess what? Somehow, in two weeks, I'd magically regrown bone so I was back to 3's and 4's and a few 5's. NO deep cleaning necessary or indicated and it would've been $1700 if it was done at out-of-network facility. So, conclusion: either the person doing the bone measurements didn't know how to read the measurements correctly (innocently) or it was a deliberate "increase" in measurements to encourage a "deep clean" that wasn't indicated or necessary. This whole experience will be conveyed to Delta Dental for investigation and review. By the way, the "co-pay" was $92 which, I thought, was a bit high for an "in-network" visit. But, in these post-Covid days with everything costing more, who knows. read more

First of all - the website won't tell you and the staff won't either, until you are already checked in and have your exam under way - they do not have a dentist at all on site, none. All of their dentists see you via a zoom telehealth call, from Tampa...I have had this dentist for about 5 years. Them not having a dentist on site is new since Covid and this was my first time back to the clinic since Covid. My last visit prior to covid, i had an exam, ortho consult, saw an actual dentist, and was scheduled for a deep cleaning not covered by insurance. I did the deep cleaning and was scheduled for a routine cleaning, covered by insurance, a few weeks later. When it came time for that routine visit, they called and said they had to cancel it and would reschedule... they never rescheduled it. Then covid happened and it took 2 years to get back in. I go in for my routine exam and cleaning and discover that they want to work me up as a new patient. Understandable, it's been 2 years. I agree. But then, they start showing me estimates for full xrays AND panoramic views - which my insurance won't cover because doing both is excessive. But, the cost was low, so i agreed. My exam is done then the fun began... They refused to do any prophylactic work covered by my insurance and instead pushed me to schedule an appointment for another deep cleaning ($150) and added in a take home periodontal treatment for $500, not covered by insurance, using high pressure sales tactics and resorting to fear tactics. Mind you, my xrays showed nothing abnormal (a few prior filled cavities that the zoom dentist said should be looked at) and gingival scores were 98% in the normal range with a few pockets towards my back teeth - need to floss better back there. When i declined and said i really just wanted to get my teeth cleaned since I had a deep cleaning 2 years ago and they failed to follow through with my routine cleaning. The technician begins questioning why i am declining and offering financing suggestions. - just like that I'm suddenly negotiating a car sale instead of getting my teeth cleaned. The tech then walks over to the hygenist, who was with another client, and begins discussing my care, treatment, and our conversation in front of other clients! The hygenist then excuses herself from the cleaning she was doing to come and pressure me into this treatment plan. She actually said the insurance paid cleanings are useless and are nothing more than a polishing. That it would be negligent of them to just do the insurance paid cleaning without first doing a deep gingival cleaning. The hygenist then began insinuating that if i didn't get this deep cleaning my teeth would quickly deteriorate. The tech and hygenist then began ganging up on me and pressing me to apply for Care Credit to pay for this extra cleaning and take home treatments. *Those take home treatments by the way - hydrogen peroxide gel (sometimes mixed with antibiotics) that are not FDA approved and that is highly debated in the dental industry as to its effectiveness. It was only after I finally agreed to do the deep cleaning, but again refused the take home treatments, that they put me on the schedule for said deep cleaning, making a note that i was declining the take home treatment but i was doing so at my own great risk and could only decline it once. When i inquired about the prophylactic cleaning, i was told they wouldn't schedule that until I finished the deep cleaning appointment first. Remember, this is what happened 2 years ago when they conveniently canceled my routine insurance covered appointment. See a pattern here? All of this, and noone had even mentioned or tried to schedule an appointment for the prior-filled cavities that the dentist said should be examined. I was informed that i would need to go to their other location to see an actual dentist for that appointment, but they wouldn't schedule it. This clinic appears to be more concerned with doing procedures that are not necessary and not covered by insurance to pad their books. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I booked a cleaning as a new patient. I showed up for my 2 pm appt and sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes. Upon going back it was dirty and gross. It looked like the floors hadn't been cleaned in a year. The staff was nice enough, took X-rays, which I was ok with since it's been awhile. They said my teeth look perfect! I have always heard that my teeth are perfect from every dentist. I've never had a cavity, I floss often and mouthwash daily. I had years of orthodontic work done to get them in the right spots but my teeth themselves are in great condition. They tried to tell me I had stage 3 periodontal disease!!! They wrote up a $1600 bill for the periodontal treatment and when I refused to sign it they brought out their office manager. He tried to convince me to sign the paper that said something like "I consent and agree to pay the invoice total for the work to be performed by coast dental". I said there's no way I'm signing. He said I "have to". That it's just a consent form that they told me I had this disease and I was informed, for their liability. I told him I know how to read. That's not what it says. I'm not signing it. I don't have to sign anything. I'm glad I have enough wherewithal and know when someone is trying to scam me! I just didn't realize they would try to scam via convincing people they had a severe gum disease (that I CLEARLY don't have because at "stage 3" my teeth should be loose and falling out per google search), and likely performing treatments on people who DO NOT NEED THEM. Absolutely should be illegal. I'm reporting this place. I'm sure they prey on plenty of college students with worried parents, and elderly people to keep profitable but this is an unethical practice. You should be ashamed. And by the way, I got a second opinion and my teeth and gums are perfectly healthy and don't need anything other than a standard cleaning. P. S. After requesting my records and leaving the office I noticed that they marked down in my chart that I have SEVEN MISSING TEETH. I have NO missing teeth. Absolutely insane. 100% insurance fraud. No surprise there; I'm sure many other patients have already filled it with their own complaints. * They never reply to email messages. * The corporate office is either unable or unwilling to offer any help at all. Their "solution": Contact the local office. That's no solution at all. I'm contacting the corporate office because of problems with the local office. Bottom line: They never help, they never call back, and they seemingly never care. * Here's one of the biggest problems with this place: They seem incapable of figuring out what dental insurance covers and what it doesn't. My account had a credit balance because they overcharged me in the past. But at my latest -- and very last -- visit, a representative of this corporation and practice, the hygienist, assured me that insurance would (at least partially) cover a procedure (oral cancer screening) that I had always declined in the past and would have declined this time too -- IF only their employee had not given me false information. * When I went into their office today to try to resolve their billing mistakes (after all, in-person was the only way I could speak with anyone), the new office manager, LISA, readily agreed with me when I told her that she'd inherited a mess. But no matter how many times I tried to reason with her and explain their mistake (telling me an elective procedure was covered when it was not, one that I would have declined -- as I had always done before this -- if only they had given me correct information), she kept falling back on the fact that they had performed the procedure. That was never in question! My complaint was that they had given me wrong information; in essence, I agreed to the procedure under false pretenses. And when I say "wrong information", I am *not* in any way implying that they are dishonest or liars; that would require a certain level of organization and competence that they simply do not have. __________ So, after all of this, I am still waiting for their corporate office to review my "escalated complaint". This practice is very misleading. Due to insurance changes I found myself at their office. They had nearly $100 in hidden fees that were not covered by insurance but were required. I attempted to get a basic cleaning that was to be 100% covered by insurance ( I confirmed with my insurance company prior to my visit). After my first visit! I was required to return at a later time because of equipment failure. Upon my return for the basic cleaning I was advised that the dentist (who never physically examined me) was requiring that I have an $800 cleaning. Please keep in mind that I was just at my prior dentist 1 week earlier. I'll stop short of calling them fraudster, but something about their business model seems predator in nature. Came in for cleaning the the dental hygienist was setting me up for upsell. Started quoting law. She is not a lawyer refused to clean my teeth without taking the up sell. Started at 3100 and dropped down to 580. Place is highway robbery. All I came in for was a cleaning . The dentist never looked at me personally it was done video call. If I could give them a negative review I would. RUDE RUDE RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I'm at the point where I'll rather drag my mouth over concrete than comeback to this place. That Assistant Manger Danielle needs to go. She lies, rude and unprofessional. She doesn't know anything. I watched her her a solid 5 minutes trying to figure out how to add a coupon to a paitent's visit from hours ago. When they finally got to me (I was the only person in there and got there 15 minutes before they close ), she didn't even know how to print out my claims (she was the one who told me that I had to get them in person because she couldn't email them to me). The computers weren't working and then she was letting me know that she sent my claims in 3 times including yesterday, so she can't print them or it will stop the claim. MIND YOU my visits were February, March, and April. Why weren't my claims submitted then??? The sprinkles on top of this pile of horsefuckery, when I came in back then, the dental hygienist (Zharia/Zaria) told me that she spoke to my insurance company and they said that I could get my entire mouth cleaned in preparation for my "bone-loss" treatment and gave me a hefty bill that showed how much I had to pay because my insurance wasn't covering much. Now, that just doesn't make any sense because my claims weren't even submitted. It's now August and my claims haven't been submitted but Ms Zharia and Ms Danielle claims that they were sent and was done so multiple times. Want to know what's crazy? They didn't get my insurance right until a couple weeks ago after telling them MULTIPLE TIMES what it was and sending pictures of my card. I remember Ms Danielle having the nerve to ask me if I was sure I had that insurance . ZHARIA- Just cares about the money. After lying about my insurance. She called me to tell me that I couldn't get my trays that I paid for because Margaret Marino (the dentist) used Her money that was on my account. Apparently, Zharia didn't pay for the trays yet and Margaret used it for my fillings (she did poorly by the way- I now cannot chew on the left side without feeling pain. THANK YOU MARGARET ). Margaret told me I had a balance on my account and that's all she told me and my reply was "Oh, I must've overpaid last time". Margaret said nothing else and collected her coins. Note: I scheduled Margaret's appointment 1 week after Zharia said that my trays would be in. After seeing Margaret, I went to the counter to get my trays and was informed that they didn't come in and there was a delay- did Zharia call me and tell me that beforehand? Absolutely not . A week or 2 later (2 days after she got the trays) zharia called me to tell me that they came in but I have to pay $500 to get them because the Margaret used HER money. While I was trying to figure out what happened, Zharia was torn up because the dentist used HER money. Ya know, who wouldn't be sad about their money . I asked her when she got my trays and she said Tuesday ( she called on the Thursday) I said oh okay. They she began to press to see when I'm coming to get them (at the time I didn't have time off work until 2 weeks later and I told her then I hung up on her) . How I found out that my claims weren't submitted? Probably in May or April when I called my insurance company for something different and I mentioned going to the dentist and had to pay an arm and a leg for the treatment with insurance. My insurance rep said that can't be correct because I only have one claim on my account for such place. I said no, I've been then 3 more times after that. She told me that it wasn't reported. I TOLD Zharia that my claims weren't submitted and she assured me that they were and she had sent them off to Aetna . I told her that wasn't my insurance company. I sent her a picture of my card. She said it says Aetna (this is true, it's on there but it's through a 3rd party insurance company that uses Aetna. The number for submitting claims in on the very top of the card but they keep missing it. It's hard to get somebody on the phone and when you do, it's a rude ass person and they are rude in person. I don't know what her name is, but I met her today (8/9) and she was wearing a black top, turquoise scrub bottoms and her nails were a greenish metallic color. she has a poorly aged tattoo on her left arm (mostly covered by the bottom with the numbers is peeking out) . She told me to have a nice day very condescendingly and proceeded to laugh when I didnt say anything on my way out ( I was upset and even though I planned to curse them out when I got there, I held together but I know my face said otherwise ‍). Now i don't know what them ladies did my mouth. Now that I'm thinking about it, Zharia was sure digging in my gums to get her Periodisease diagnosis ( and from the reviews I've read, apparently 83% of their customers have it). this is the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist I would never recommend. they are scammers they will steal your money and refuse to give you the items that you purchased. I purchased items in February 2024 some trays that they recommended with a insurance company to go through that they recommended the trays are not even ready and my teeth need to be reprinted for new trays to come in, and they are refusing to print my teeth for some items that I have not even received but paid for.
