My wife and I went to Coast Dental in Casselberry for far too long, since we had limited options from my dental plan. But I should have found a better dental practice sooner, because they were terrible. They blasted racist, misogynistic, homophobic, right-wing radio in their waiting room (the "Rick Stacy Morning Show") and kept it going even when I complained about the content once. Dr. Sanchez once went on a whole diatribe about why Florida should never legalize marijuana WHILE he was examining my mouth. I literally couldn't talk, or I would have told him how inappropriate it was for him to be mixing politics with business and forcing his opinions on patients while making sure they couldn't voice their own opinions. Frankly, my wife and I both think she got poor quality care regarding fillings and crowns. We have a superior dentist now, and the problems Dr. Sanchez and his staff always seemed to find are no longer present. I wonder why. I have always taken excellent care of my teeth, and his hygienist Munira still always complained and tried to upsell me on unnecessary treatments and gadgets. I refused, but when they had my wife alone, they could often peer-pressure her into paying for additional products and services. The one bright spot was the hygienist Iman, who usually cleaned my wife's teeth. She was lovely, patient, and gentle. She is too good for that place. We switched last year, and I'm still bitter about how we were treated for so long. read more

I have followed Dr Sanchez for over 30 years from one office to another. I lost track of him and used another dentist from his old group and was extremely dissatisfied with the service and the group. I had lost a crown and the other dentist wound up doing a poor root canal, causing a major abscess and resulting in the loss of two teeth and part of the jaw bone. I hadn't been to the dentist since the emergency surgery was completed and noticed his name at Coast Dental. I had a great reunion and started my treatments again. Life comes at you fast sometimes and I fell behind in my visits for several years through Covid and other issues. I then continued to ignore the several reminders his staff would send until I had a problem. Luckily Dr Sanchez is still here in Casselberry and is doing everything possible to fix me back up and keep me smiling. I have some major work needs to be done, but he's taking his time and working at a comfortable pace for me. He also knows I'm not a huge fan of dentists overall and takes great care to keep me advised about the treatment and working hard to keep it as painless as possible. I have to praise his whole staff for their Friendliness, Compassion and their Interest in making my teeth healthy again to help me smile a bit broader. Disappointed with this dentist. After multiple small issues over the years I decided to leave for another dentist in April. When I left I had a credit on my account, I've been waiting on a refund 4 months now. The copy and paste response adds another number I guess I need to make time for to call to get this resolved... I just want my refund of my account credit and be done with this group. Update several weeks later. Received a call back two weeks ago from customer relations. Traumatized by a particular non-private establishment, I shyed away from dentists altogether for about a year. Needing to take my 12 year old daughter somewhere for her overdue cleaning, I finally took a leap of faith on Coast Dental Casselberry after my friend swore that they were the best. I'm glad that I finally took her advice and only wish I'd done so much sooner. Excellent customer service at the front-office, professional hygienists and dentists, and efficient dental work. Clean environment and they were on time. A dream all in one package. The head Dentist (Sorry if the title is incorrect) told us regarding our daughter, "Either Lyric is best friends with her toobrush or she never eats, because she has no cavities! Good job!" You should have seen the smile on her face and now she understands why I lecture her so much every evening when she doesn't feel like brushing/flossing. She is highly encouraged more than ever, since that visit at Coast Dental! We travel all of the way from Deltona and it was worth the effort. When I searched for a dentist using my insurance company's website, back in February.. it listed this Coast Dental location. I made an appointment for the following month, for an annual exam/x-rays and cleaning. There wasn't a huge wait, the staff was friendly (at least the ones in the back), and overall it was a good experience. Today, I came in for an emergency visit and was turned away. I signed in, and a woman at the front desk handed me a paper that shows that my insurance was denied. I asked for the paper, so that I could contact my insurance company to see what the problem was. I sat down and began to read the document, and noticed that it clearly states "Effective end date: 12-31-2020". I wasn't sure why they would have me come all the way there, just to tell me this. However my true issue was why they brought me in for an exam/x-ray visit the previous month (in 2021- after the effective end date), giving me no indication that there was an issue with my insurance. Then proceeded to tell me that they don't even take the insurance that I have currently, and that the consultation only, would be $122. Needless to say, I walked out still in excruciating pain. i arrived a couple minutes late to my appointment probably under 5 minutes i waited about 15 minutes to get seen when there was only 1 person ahead of me. the layout of the office is really weird no privacy whatsoever you can see the customers all getting their teeth done & see what everyone else is doing. i felt rushed getting my x-rays the first lady was nice took her time, second time they needed to get x rays not sure why they needed another set but anyway the dental assistant seemed like she hated that she had to do it & was rude too me about it. the hygienist was rude was scrapping my gums never asked ' does this hurt ' 'are you doing okay' i also tasted blood in my mouth and they didn't bother cleaning it. the dentist was nice but not once did they mention what gum disease i was dealing with they just handed me a bill & expected me to pay a couple hundred dollars for a deep cleaning. didn't go through the bill throughly with me just handed it to me like i was getting served divorce papers. the place was pretty dirty and i felt rushed and never welcomed, i only went here cause it was close to my house & I'm from out of state i'll never go back or recommend wish i had my dental office from arizona here cause this place is trash. they kept asking if i had braces i never had braces in my life why do you keep asking when i said no? the only thing nice to say about this place was that the dentist said i had beautiful teeth but back handed compliment was i have a bunch of gunk on them. read more

My insurance provider took care of the bill in full and they still sent me a balance due. I disputed it and they said ir was taken care of. The 1-star is because zero is not a choice. My son waited 3-weeks to see the rotating orthodontist. We choose them because they are nearby, and they offered a free consultation (like every other O on the planet. I am disabled w/o dental insurance so I was interested in understanding the pricing structure. That they couldn't be certain with 100% accuracy is understandable; but that they seemed to attempt to procrastinate before discussing it was mildly annoying. In all the costs seemed reasonable. However, the O suggested that before braces, we first get a cleaning and ex-rays, then fix any issues that were found before braces were installed. Again it seemed wise counsel. Luckily, she said there was a coupon on the website for a $29.99, but that I must clip it and bring it. On the day of said appointment I looked on-line only to find the coupon was actually FREE exam & x-rays for first time patients. Great! I called ahead to alert them that we were running about ten minutes late. After some consternation they said OK, come on. Upon arrival I noticed that we were the only patients waiting, even though it took about 30-40 minutes before being called. In the meantime, I asked for an ala carte list of dental services (to get some idea of cost on my limited budget). I have had these at other dentist offices. I was told that NO, they do not "give out prices", which I found odd. But, she said I could discuss them with the book-keeper when called. When were eventually escorted to her desk, it left a noticeably empty waiting room. Hmmm? The lady promptly handed me a printout with the billing itemization. No worry. I had anticipated the possibility of some ticky-tack charges and add-on fees, but when I looked down and saw a $285 invoice I was startled. "Oh, I have a FREE coupon," I blurted. "That has been included," she stated matter-of-factly. "Wha'- the - f...?" She calmly explained that the 11 line invoice was for things not covered by the FREE offer. There were line items using obscure medical terms that I did not recognize (duh, since my Dental School years were VERY limited), some everyday mundane things but which had names using fancy jargon (common ways for marketing to make the the basic to sound magical), and other industry terms I could only guess about. (To me, it is a big RED FLAG when pricing is avoided until the 11th hour and then the common vernacular is substituted for essentially insider information. As in, what you don't know can hurt you). What I discovered was that FREE means a free office visit, free trash disposal (they call it BIO-WASTE RECYCLING ASSE), free sterilization (wow, that's normally a charge?), and a free quick 1 minute look in my son's mouth (regular price $131)... for what I'm not certain since we were there to get x-rays after the last exam. Not included: Adult prophy $62, Fluoride $29, panoramic film $45, Intraroral-periapical-FIRS $19, Intraoral-periapical-EAC $19, Bitewings $38, Smile Plus $75. Damn, how could I have forgotten that? Adult Prophy $62. Interesting. All I can figure is that this is the rubber gloves (prophylactic) they wear? Surely not. The lady attempted to console me with the absurd idea that THOSE were discounted prices, and that the REGULAR cost would have been $611. Lemme see, $661 for teeth cleaning and a couple of x-rays? Right. Oh, the Smile Plus fee of $75 is so that I am eligible for the discount. No Smile Plus, no discount. I asked if it is possible to do an x-ray without film. Indeed WHAT EXACTLY is an x-ray? Whatever it is, apparently you can get a free one for $285... Right, I gotta go catch my pumpkin truck. See ya! read more

I had a great experience here a few years ago when I needed a root canal. I recently went again to get a toothache checked out and they did a periodontal disease check without telling me what they were doing! I almost had to pay out of pocket for it but I spoke with my dental insurance after and they covered it. They told me that I needed a 500 dollar deep clean for periodontal dieses I told them I didn't have the money to pay for that and asked if they can just do a regular cleaning and they refused! I went in and it took over 2 hours to assess me ( the X-ray tech was amazing though), however there seemed to be a lot of confusion with the dental hygienist. The dental hygienist suggested a deep clean whilst the Doctor said otherwise. The dental hygienist decided he was going to wait another week to have another doctor come in as a second opinion instead of listening to a competent doctor. I set up my appointment and staff guaranteed me 3 times that I'd get an exam and cleaning, I had to take time off work etc . No one also advised me that an actual dentist wasn't going to be in office today and that decisions on treatment depended on whether a physical dentist was present. I feel not valued as a patient. I wasted hours and pay that I cannot get back . The staff as also very nonchalant about wasting my time. I regret booking this appointment. I only feel this place deserved a 1 star because the X-ray tech was amazing , otherwise you can tell it is money driven and not patient oriented. read more

Doctors are great, if you can schedule an appointment. No one ever pics up the phone and it's difficult finding whether your insurance will cover the cost of the procedures. I'm not sure why it is such a hassle to get someone on the phone, but they need an overhaul of their administrative staff. The orthodontist is only in the office every other week, so you have to work around their schedule if you need a procedure. If you need consistent services, this is not the office for you. I accidentally picked Aetna as my insurance through my employer for 2014, so I decided to give this office a try since it was close by. I went in expecting the same type service as I had gotten with my previous doctor. That was definitely not the case. I had a broken tooth & went in for an X-ray so they could determine the issue (normal protocol). They didn't have an appointment available for 1 week & never attempted to squeeze me in somewhere else, even though I was in A LOT of pain. They gave me a prescription for pain pills but only gave me enough to last 3 days. I called to ask for a refill on the 4th or 5th day, and they never returned multiple phone calls & kept giving me the run around. It kind of made me feel like they thought I was a junkie, not going to lie. Finally I went inside the office & they told me the dentist wasn't available to write out the script. I was not taking more than what the recommended dose was. They should have given me more than 3 days worth if they couldn't perform the procedure until 1 week later. They are super disorganized, not the friendliest staff & just overall a bad experience. Also, they told my pregnant wife to get a note from her doctor that it was ok to do a cleaning, which she did. And when she went back in a couple weeks later, they told her they would rather not perform Xrays or the cleaning since she was in her last trimester. They knew how pregnant she was when they told her to get the note. So why did they have her jump through hoops & waste her time?! She had to take off work only to be turned away. Can't wait until 2015 when I get Metlife back & go to a better dental office! Also - they made me fill out another set of forms. Dr. Goldberg is Fantastic!!! I came into this office for the first time in terrible pain and knew I needed a root canal. Dr. Goldberg identified the tooth that was giving me the pain because sometimes your entire mouth feels like it's throbbing and you're not sure if it's the top or bottom. Anyway, he did the root canal right away and thank god no more pain and throbbing. He's also amazing when it comes to the injections to make you numb....I didn't feel a thing. The entire office staff was very nice, pleasant, and helpful. Everything was very clean as well. This is my new dentist office!!! read more

the old ortho rushed my daughters braces off and wouldn't let her continue with the new ortho coming into the office. i had to pay 3,000 for them to even touch my daughters teeth because she got them on in newyork. he didn't help her at all and now i had to get a new ortho one year later because she needed a tooth pulled out and way more work done. im so disappointed on how an ortho can make you pay that much and not see that a tooth clearly infront of her mouth was supposed to be removed. the workers were quite rude to. after he took them off he rushed to miami and never heard from him again. he didn't do one thing for my daughter and now she needs them another 3 years after having them for almost 5 years read more

We felt like we were at a used car dealership. A filling fell out of one of my husband's teeth. We went in to Coast Dental expecting them to replace the filling or suggest a crown. Instead, the dentist told us he needed a root canal! The pointed out a "shadow" around my husband's tooth and said "see that shadow? it's an infection. You need a root canal." Even with our insurance, between the root canal and the crown we were looking at $2,000. When my husband asked for an alternative, the dentist said no, it was either a root canal or pulling out the tooth! My husband cannot afford to have any more teeth pulled, he had terrible dentistry in his youth and is missing his back molars. Losing a tooth can mean digestive and other longer-term health problems, so offering to pull out an otherwise healthy tooth is completely unethical. Because we couldn't afford the root canal right now, we asked if there was anything temporary that could be done. The dental assistant suggested packing the exposed tooth with sensodyne and taking painkillers! SERIOUSLY?!!!! When I said this was unacceptable, they called in the "specialist" who of COURSE charged us a consultation fee as a specialist. He examined my husband's tooth, did a pulp test which put him in excruciating pain and said "he needs a root canal because he's in pain [yeah after putting freezing cold cotton on an EXPOSED TOOTH!!!!], but the good thing is HE DOESN'T have an infection" (WTF? didn't the other dentist just tell us he DOES have an infection? and with no infection, why in the world does he need a root canal?). When my husband asked if he couldn't just put a temporary filling, or cap it, or even just put a crown on it, the dentist simply said "no, that won't work. Eventually he will need to have it root canaled." When we asked if there was something he could do as a temporary fix to postpone the root canal (remember, he just said with a crown or a cap he will "eventually" need a root canal, isn't that a way to postpone it?) he said "no," and suggested we buy tooth cement at the drug store and take motrin. NONE of this made any sense because my husband just had extensive work done in Mexico. So, today we paid out of our own pocket for a second opinion. We went to a reputable dentist who is unfortunately not covered by our insurance, and guess what? He DOESN'T NEED A ROOT CANAL!!!!! A crown will protect the tooth and will mostly likely hold for a long, long time! So, basically, we were lied to, the dentists at Coast Dental tried to manipulate us into getting unnecessary dental work so they could line their own pockets. I am livid and beside myself with anger, and intend to file a formal complaint. But, in the meantime, BEWARE of these people! They are unethical and unprofessional and will do ANYTHING to make a buck! Oh, and of course, when I called them and asked them to email my DH's xray to the new doctor so we could get a second opinion, they said "of course!" and never sent it. Bad, bad, bad.
