In our case they should have suggested using another facility to lift our boat as although their lift can manage its weight, being wide in the beam was more challenging. The sling damaged our boat on both sides but particularly on the port side. It was fixed and then the damage occurred again on return to the water. They don't dredge the area either and it is very easy to get caught on the sandbar at low tide. If your boat is a smaller one than ours (45') and less in the beam you would likely be okay but if it is a bigger one I would take it to a yard that has a bigger sling. We've owned our boat for 12 years and it is hauled regularly - this is the first time we've experienced damage due to the lift. The lift operator had the nerve to suggest that the design of the boat was at fault and probably the exhaust covers were not original to the boat. The boat design is as the factory made it and the exhaust covers are original too. The only changes we've made are to the radar arch and adding a cover for the cockpit and stern. As you can imagine we are not happy campers and will not ever use this facility again.

It was quite relaxing and luckily it wasn't that busy. Along the Quayside Marina there are lots of restaurants and cafe shops. It is definitely a great place to chill with friends or even just by yourself. Only issue is that parking is not easy to find and it is not free.

The Yaletown neighborhood has it all. Restaurants, bars, microbrew, markets and shops all within walking distance. There's really no need to hire a car or request an Uber when at this marina. Plenty of temporary moorage for boats of most cruising size and up to 120 feet. We were only half that size and tied off to the main dock. Despite being in the middle of it all, the foot traffic was not noticeable and I felt very safe leaving the boat. 30, 50, 100 amp power is available. Coal Harbour is nice, secure and quiet but if you want a break from the sea and to enjoy a few nights of city life, call into Quayside Marina on 66A and tie off. It's a great place to float.

A place where I can get a great exchange rate north of the border, have great value on parts and certified help when needed. Last time it was across from downtown Vancouver at the Creek's Boatyard. I needed some prop work, a weld done, tuning and major rigging work done. With no fuss or hassles they bounced right on it. They gave me a quote for the work and (no surprises) met their price and they did the work rather quickly. I keep my boat in La Conner, but when I have serious work to do, I will go up to Vancouver's Creek Marina & Boatyard. It's well worth the trip. Good people are found there.

THE ROSES: Well maintained physical plant in a wonderfully protected bay. Ample 30A and 15A power. Fuel dock with gasoline and diesel at reasonable prices. Marina staff is professional and very pleasant. Clean washrooms. The marina has a nice little store and a really nice pub/eatery (Crane and Robin) on premises. You can also rent kayaks and scooters here. They take reservations for dock space. Some nice restaurants (Pilgrimme, Hummingbird Pub) nearby. THE THORNS: Due to an acute water shortage on the island, there is no water for refilling boat tanks or showers. No Pumpout station (closest one is Ganges public dock, 5 miles away on Salt Spring Island). THE VERDICT: Well worth the visit and worth paying the premium for not having to dinghy in. Recommend.
