Since moving slightly westwards last summer I miss living so close to a Co-Op, however much the too-skinny aisles filled with mums and prams drove me up the wall. I can barely fit down the aisles - how can they expect people to manoeuvre child-transporting hardware down them? They sell Fairtrade coffee, yep, but there's no space to queue.
The congestion got so bad one Saturday afternoon that my boyfriend managed to get a bottle of lovely vegan Fairtrade red wine wedged on the corner of the aisle which, when nudged loose, went flying in to the bakery section and smashed in to many pieces on the floor! Thankfully we weren't charged for the damage - presumably because something similar happens twice a day.
I know space is at a premium in London, especially for the less conglomerate-like shops, but can't something be done about this problem? read more
