Very surprised to be refused being served alcohol, as our 16 year old daughter was with us. When we queried it, we were advised that it was the law. However, from my work experience in the courts , I have never heard of this before. The member of staff said that it was the law but a lot of places did not abide by it. Even drinkingaware.co.uk does not say it is illegal. However, it does say that retailers have the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to an adult if they're accompanied by a child and think the alcohol is being bought for the child. There was nothing done to make the staff think the alcohol was being bought for our child. We certainly would not do that. We took our custom elsewhere, and got the same drink £4.00 cheaper round the corner. You have just lost our custom, as we will shop elsewhere in future. read more
