They continue to call me every single morning, for a debt that is not mine. Then when I call when I try to explain to them, they have such an attitude that they won't even hear a word I'm saying. I feel like I'm dealing with a girl in junior high who used to take off her hoop earrings off. I would be more than willing to work with them, but they are impossible to work with. I would've told them that the debt is from my ex that I haven't lived with him in. 10 years but yet they continue to call me every single morning. This company is a piece of work. And not in a good way they do not get good results because they have no respect nor do they open their ears and listen. I had a very unprofessional experience with CMRE Financial Services. On 12/22/2025 around 8:48 AM, I called to clarify a discrepancy between the balance shown on their bill and the amount reflected in their data. Instead of receiving help, the representative I spoke with, Susi, was extremely rude and dismissive. She repeatedly talked over me, did not listen to my explanation, and ultimately hung up the phone mid-conversation without resolving anything. This is completely unacceptable behavior for a financial services company that handles sensitive billing matters. CMRE should review their call recordings, as they will clearly show how unprofessional this interaction was. Customers deserve respectful communication and clear explanations--especially when questioning billing accuracy. Based on this experience, I would not recommend CMRE Financial Services. read more

SCAM! DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. This is a fraudulent scam company. I received a collection statement/invoice from them saying I owed money that I had already paid. I called the medical provider that the original invoice and service was through and they confirmed that I had paid and that my account had never been sent to a collection agency. They said this was likely a scam company. I also called the number of the collection group that was listed on their statement and it just kept saying they were closed even though it was 10am on a Wednesday. If you get anything from CMRE Financial you need to call the provider that your services your services to confirm you account regardless if you still owe them money or not. read more

I got a debt collection letter in the mail from them for a hospital visit that I did in fact do. However, I was never notified in any way whatsoever of the charges prior to it going to collections. Plus I had already paid thousands to the hospital but apparently the Physician charges go through a different service who never notifies the patient that they owe money? After further investigation I discovered that CMRE was in fact trying to collect for a code that I had already paid. I sent them evidence of my statements showing I had paid for that code and they never responded. I have asked them for months to give me some kind of update on the status of my dispute and I never get any response. I called three times and got the bitchiest, nastiest, most passive aggressive little ladies you could ever imagine. This is all for a bill that was over 1.5 yrs old and the original creditor didn't show any balance due. I tried to make them aware of that fact, and I asked them to notate my account with the updated info. I asked them to call the original creditor to clear it up, but they said they had no ability to call the original creditor. Until they get an update the bill remains on their books and they will keep showing it as delinquent. They kept doing their bitchy little dance -- "I'm sorry I can't hear you. We must have a bad connection. What can I do for you today? I'm trying to help you but you keep talking over me... (een though I'am silent for 10 - 20 seconds). Really?!! There is ZERO PROFESSIONALISM at this place. Three different calls all handled by incompetent and rude operators. I kept calling back thinking eventually I would get someone effective and who took some pride in the work. But I got three different people and had 3 unsatisfactory experiences: Gabriella, Susie and Diego. None of them would transfer me to a supervisor, and all of them were abusive to me in their passive aggressive fashion by pretending they couldn't hear me or accusing me of talking over them when I was actually silent. I think the first gal had put some kind of note in my account because the second two calls were answered ith massive ATTITUDE right from the start, whereas my tone was polite and calm. I honestly don't need this crap while I'm trying to clear up a debt collection mistake on my lunch break. They're the ones who are paid to be on the call and to help me. They are at WORK -- I am not being paid to call them, or clear up their accounts with the original creditor. For myself after having my son and they made sure to put my baby as the main patient even though I was holding him the entire time and they did not do anything but cut his umbilical cord after I told them I did not want to and not to. They started billing me shortly after this happened I gave them my medical number last year 2020 and now come May 2021 they want to send me two notices out of the blue that I'm getting sent to collections and a phone call saying it barely updated in their system. I received an auto-call from CMRE Financial Services that played a recording saying I owed money and to call them. So I called, pretty sure I didn't owe anyone any money but anxious to be sure because no one wants their credit ruined. When I got hold of them, they wanted me to give them my credit card number right away to pay a bill for $135 for a hospital I have been a patient at in the the past. Them knowing my name, phone number, birthdate, address, and where I got medical care was very convincing. Luckily I decided to check with the hospital first. So I told the CMRE employee that I would call the hospital to check and then I would call them back. So when I got hold of the hospital, the hospital said not only do I not owe any money, but they don't contract with that provider. The hospital asked for the collection company's name and phone number, and requested my permission to contact them directly. They placed me on hold to contact them. When the hospital got back on the line, they said it was a scam and definitely not to give them any money. After I got off the phone with the hospital, I called CMRE Financial Services back because I had told them that I would. They told me I wasn't in their files, they'd never spoken to me, they'd never called me, and there was no record of me in their system. On June 14th, 2019 I called 1-800-783-9118 (the number on the Equifax website) because my credit report shows that I owe CMRE the amount of $461.00. I spoke with Denise. I did not have my account number, so Denise looked up my information via my name, address and birth date. Denise said my balance owed was $701.00. I was a bit confused at the amount being different than what is shown on my credit report, but I wrote it off to maybe having more than one invoice open. I had hospital services in late 2016 so I wasn't concerned. I requested that Denise send me a receipt either via email (which I gave to her) or by regular mail. On July 1st, I noticed that the amount was still listed as owed, and the money had in fact been taken from my bank account ($701.00). I also never received the requested receipt of payment. I emailed CustomerService@cmrefsi.com to request the documentation of my payment (see below email). I never heard back. Much to my dismay, on July 13th, a Saturday, I received a statement for the amount of $461.00. On Tuesday, July 16th I called 1-866-206-1336 (the number on the statement) and spoke to a representative, gave my account number and asked him if my balance was shown as paid. It was not, and he didn't see any proof of my having made a payment of $701.00. I was then transferred to Denise, my "account rep". Initially, Denise acted as though we had never spoken. After a few minutes of my explaining to her the above, she found her notes in my file. She instructed me to email in the screen shot of my payment from my bank statement, which I had already done. When I told Denise this, she said she would look for the email, but then said that her email system was down. Denise then said she would call me back "maybe in 15 minutes, maybe in an hour, but definitely today and we will sort this out." I did not receive a call back. On Thursday, July 18th I called 1-866-206-1336 and was transferred again to Denise, directly to her voicemail. I left a detailed message, with my account number, name, phone and email address, reminding her that she was to followup regarding the payment of $701.00 not being applied to my $461.00 balance. On Friday, July 19th, I again called CMRE, this time using 714-528-3200. Again, I left a detailed message for Denise. I have emailed customer service for a third time, in hopes to have this resolved quickly. In the meantime, I have contacted my bank to dispute the withdrawal. read more

OMG! I have worked as a collection agent before and know how the system works, but these people take the cake! These agents are paid a flat hourly rate that is at minimum or below minimum wage because they are paid a bonus fee based on phone calls made and funds collected. Even if no answer, it shows attempts made and counts. CMRE was calling for my deceased nephew. I originally informed the company that hired CMRE of my nephews passing. Account was still passed to collection. I have told CMRE repeatedly that my nephew had passed away, it has now been almost a year. My nephew passed with no money, no assets. what insurance paid was all there was. I canceled my nephew cell phone so no more phone calls, but CMRE continue is to send mail, bordering on threats. I offered to send a picture of my nephew's death certificate, but the rude guy on the phone said that I was 'not authorized to receive any information about the account' and hung up on me. Oh well, these people are keeping an uncollectible account open in order to charge the original creditor! If I were a business hiring a collection agency, I would pass on CMRE! CMRE knows this account will never be collected but continues to rack up billing charges just to charge the businesses that come to them for help! read more

I called to ask if they would take me off the call list, the lady complained, was completely rude and continued to bitch that the accounts were not taken care of. She said the number has been taken off and hung up on me. Not 10 min later, another call from the automated system. I called back and spoke to a manager. Manager explained that accounts were taken care of and I won't recieve calls anymore. 2 hours later another call. I called back, was treated like shit and hung up on. SNEAKY SCAMMERS! Be careful. After a visit to HOAG in Newport Beach, I was billed from an outsourced radiologist in the area. The radiology center was unable to reach me due to incorrect address info and sent my bill to this collections agency without my knowledge. CMRE then PRETENDED to be the radiology center and NEVER mentioned they were a collection agency. They claimed that my insurance would not cover my bill, yet my insurance company never received a claim. After weeks of CMRE refusing to contact my insurance provider and insisting I pay my bill in full before it gets sent to collections, I finally decided to call the radiology center and was able to figure everything out with them directly. I was happy to see that the collection fell off of my Equifax report. It is still on the Experian report, hopefully it will fall off. What pisses me off is the fact that it was never on the Transunion report. Suddenly, AFTER I paid it off, it shows up not paid on the Transunion. Two days after I had paid my bill in full, CMRE posted 2 negative reports on my credit report company's website. This, despite the fact that I had paid my bill. The bill was due to a medical situation after a car accident, and as soon as the car accident payment was settled, and the law firm forwarded payment to me, I paid my bill. The company who used CMRE for collection is Tower Imaging Medical Group Inc. in Santa Monica. They, along with CMRE did not remove the negative report for close to two years, after I had paid the bill in full. I only realized this after I was notified about it by the credit reporting company, recently. Even now, I had to make several calls to Tower Imaging and CMRE to request that they remove the negative reports. I was told by CMRE that it would take a month(!) to do so online. And instead of sending me a confirmation of their doing this online, they are supposedly mailing me a letter stating that I had paid my bills. On the credit bureau report they claimed I did not pay the bills in full but paid a "agreed upon amount." That is an outright false statement. I paid the two charges I was sent, in full. CMRE may be a great company for those seeking to collect, but it seems a malicious and dishonorable collection agency for those who unfortunately have to wait to pay their bills caused by a no-fault accident, due to delays in settlements by law firms. It is inexcusable business behavior not to acknowledge immediately that a bill has been settled in full, and thus deliberately maligning a person's credit history. read more
