It's a pretty dope nightclub that plays house music to which we were quite vibing and dancing to. Getting in with the wristbands was pretty quick. The security was on point. It didn't feel claustrophobic even though the space is small and in spite the crowd. Also this bar shares the space with Barrio restaurant. The cocktails were pretty good too; not at all a watered down version. Overall great music and great vibe!

That's rare, especially on a busy night in Chicago. The vibe inside was everything. Music had me dancing all night--they really know how to keep the energy going with a mix of Top 40, hip hop, R&B, Latin, and a little EDM in the mix. Service was top tier. Our server checked in right away and didn't disappear after the first round. She was on point the whole night. Even the bartender was friendly, fast, and fun to talk to. You could tell the staff actually wanted to be there and made sure guests felt taken care of. And let's not ignore how good the place looks. Galeria is a whole aesthetic. Every corner is Instagram-worthy. If you love nightlife but hate the hassle, this is your spot. No drama, just a dope crowd, great music, and real service. Definitely a go-to for me now. Highly recommend.

There are plenty of other affordable nightlife areas to explore within Chicago, and Gold Coast is truly one of many. Women were allowed in for free, but the men in our group had to pay cover. The line was actually really short for a Friday, and the security was very kind. My friend's partner actually purchased bottle service and a section at the club, so I'm not too sure on what my experience would be like without it. We were comfortable, the drinks were nice, and we didn't end up purchasing anything outside of one water bottle. I will say the water isn't free, so please take note of that. The space was a bit smaller than I thought but I loved the vibes and I really liked the latin club music they were playing. On the bathroom floor, they had a telephone booth that you can take photos in, so that was nice too. The only criticism I have is that the bathrooms were not only small, but the locks on most of them didn't work, resulting in numerous people having to hold the door. That ultimately took up a lot of space within the bathroom that was already cramped. However, I will say that the women's bathroom had a little freshening up section, so that was very thoughtful on their part. Overall, I'm not too keen on returning, but it was a wonderful first time exposure to what the Gold Coast area has to offer!

But something about this place makes me want to channel my inner Doberman. Let's talk about the staff--the rudest I've encountered in Chicago, with an arrogance that makes you wonder if they moonlight as royal palace guards. * If you're not physically kissing the wall while waiting in line, prepare to be barked at. * Stand patiently in line for the bathroom? They'll glare at you like you just committed a crime. * Try to make their job easier by explaining what's in your pockets before a pat-down? That's apparently "uncooperative." * Step aside to send a quick text? Nope, you're "in the way." * Uber two minutes out in subzero temps? Out you go, even if you're not blocking a thing. This place operates on a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" policy, where even existing seems to be an offense. I'm a respectful guy, but they push my buttons in a way that makes me question my sanity. Respect is earned, and let's just say they're running a serious deficit. The cherry on top? I got elbowed in the nose, ended up with a bloody one, and as I tried to clean up in the bathroom, I was watched like I was about to commit a felony. No concern, no assistance--just judgment. I rarely come here, and every time I do, I'm reminded why that's a solid life choice. Or, in the words of Joey Swole: you need to do better.

I came here on Halloween last year, and I had fun but the music wasn't really my vibe, so I was happy when my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday here and we saw they were doing a Y2k night! All the songs they played were classics that everyone knows, and it was so much fun. The bar is pretty large and there's a lot of space to dance. They don't let it get too crowded, so it never feels unsafe or too hot. The decor inside is like a retro 1960s salon, making it great for photos. There's also a photo booth where you get 1 colored and 1 black and white strip ($7). They charge a cover around 9pm I think, so just get there before then so you won't have to pay. We got there around 8pm on a Saturday and barely anyone was there, but around 9pm more and more people started to show up. There's usually a line if you get there later because they limit the amount of people inside. Also keep in mind cocktails were $16 and there's a card minimum of $20, which basically forces you to buy two if you're using card. The drinks are super strong and they definitely do not skimp lol. The espresso martini was my favorite of the night!

We started with dinner at Good Funk (sooo good) and then walked over to Beauty Bar. We joined the line of women waiting to get in when I remarked that I don't really wait in line these days- especially in 20 degrees! My friend suggested we go up to the bouncer and talk our way in as we used to in the good old days, but I looked around and noticed we were 20 years older than everyone else...so figured that wouldn't work! Regardless it was worth a shot so we went up the bouncer and tried to talk our way in...and denied! Finally enough people left the bar that they let us in to crowds and crowds of women. We paid the the cover fee of $15 and I was delighted to see that in 2026 you could pay bars with apple pay! I'll admit this wasn't really my scene these days, but we made the best of it and started dancing away. The music was really great! My friend warned me that the best drinks were served in cans so I ordered a high noon. At one point my friend and I had to use the restroom so we pushed our way thru the hundreds of sweaty women. Plus the 3 men who showed up after an epic beads game. Our biggest complaint was that there was nowhere to hang our purse in the bathroom, which i'm sure the rest of the under 28 crowd wasn't worried about. At midnight our carriage (aka party bus) arrived so it was time to leave Beauty Bar. I can't say I was sad, but it was definitely an experience and always fun to go dancing at a bar every decade or so these days. And, most importantly, the bday gal had a blast!
