Didn't get a good look at the bathroom. I went in thinking that that's where the sink was (I'd just had BBQ wings) but they were outside the bathroom??? I dunno why some places do that. Bathroom rating -- 5.5/10 (It'd have been a 6 if not for that sink thing. Again, no idea why some places do that.) I'd like to preface this part of the review by saying that I am cishet. This was my first time in a gay bar and any pre-existing notions I had of such establishments were from what I'd seen in film and on TV. With that said, loved loved LOVED the atmosphere here! I came here for music trivia night (Shoutout to Loni! Glad we got the sound system figured out!) and it was so cozy, chill and inviting on the top floor where trivia was held that night! Loved the gentle red lighting, the pool table area, the seating... The bar had everything I needed. I got my usual White Russian but the bartender seemed visibly exhausted and mildly annoyed dealing with me, which I found more funny than rude since I still got what I ordered. Had a blast queening out with a gay man and his lesbian friends when he was joking about how their vaginas smell. We were all in a communal flow state. Great place to queen out, grab a drink and some food, listen to some great live music and do the Macarena while "Cotton Eye Joe" is playing. Overall experience -- 7/10 read more

Club David was recently bought out in 2022 and one would have assumed that considering the other venues of the new owners (think Parker's bistro) that they would have improved upon a failing business. You would be incorrect. While after taking over the business the new owners have not come out (ha, good pun) to say clearly that David is an LGBTQ bar, they stand to "support" the community. *eye roll Toucheź shutting down as the only LGBTQ bar in the Dakotas was awful, it was always so fun, then you hear a bigger better version is coming and it's a flop, it's stayed a flop. I do not frequent this bar bc of its dank appearance and tired "shows" The new owners have added different types of events to David (yay) but without the backbone to support it, or the time and energy required to make the events great. The most recent "vampire (?) drag show" being a great example. The show was put on without the thought of those watching and what they'd enjoy seeing, the talent had little to no experience, did not put in the time to practice, and the show was a bust. I was more upset that I came and supported this garbage than I was about my wasted money and time. This venue needs to stop asking for a door charge for terrible shows, and start proving the time and talent is even worth one. The decoration is sad and tired, the bar in total needs to just close. I'm surprised they can pay to keep the lights on. You need to hire a promoter, bring in legit talent, stop with the door charge, change the crap set up and invest a little more time in making this a legitimate place for people to come and enjoy themselves. read more

If i could give this establishment negative stars, i would. My group of friends and I are all 24 years old and had been going to club david at least once a week for a few months, our favorite bartender was Shannon. We would order a few drinks each and tip pretty generously. There was an older women that would also be there working on the busier days, who obviously had a thing against the younger crowd and was always rude when we would come in. Although we disliked her for her lack of customer service and human skills in general, she still ended up serving us a handful of times. One night recently after Shannon no longer worked fulltime at david's, we stopped in on a night he wasn't working but the other rude lady had been. There was obviously some shin dig going on as there was cake and quite a few people who seemed to know one another chatting. The bartender noticed us get in line for a drink, but continued to chat with whoever she was chatting with at the counter for damn near 15 minutes before getting to us. You could tell she remembered us as being Shannon's regulars, and didn't want to take our orders. She checked everyone's ID's, which we know is her job but she had served us numerous times before and hadn't checked them then so we thought it was odd. The only African American in the group was singled out and told that since she couldn't see the full indicator on the ID, only part of it (over the persons face because they were black) she wouldn't let us drink. We even pulled out the flash light on our phone to show you could see it, she was just being rude and didn't want to serve us. We all left and haven't been back and honestly probably never will be. This lady is racist and shouldn't have a job here. I wish we got her name. read more

The service was absolutely fantastic was my first time at a bar fresh off my 21st birthday, the bartender and other patron broke me out of my anti-social shell in under 2 shots and 2 drinks wonderful people, service, and environment will be back tomorrow probably! read more

We were so hoping for a fun experience and left disappointed... Friday night, 11/3/18, arrived around 8:40 p.m. and the downstairs bar doesn't open until 9:00. So we went to the 2nd floor and found it nearly empty (6 total people including us). Ordered two beers ($4.00 each so not bad) and sat at a table to talk. By 10:00 (and a couple beers later). There were 3 people on the 2nd floor, including us. Went downstairs thinking others would be milling there and there were ZERO customers. EMPTY. We left and hit another bar for about 45 minutes and came back close to 11:00 p.m. ONE person downstairs and 2 customers on the 2nd floor (us). The staff apologized and was wondering where everyone was but assured us that Saturday night was 'Hip Hop Night' and the place would be packed. We didn't return. Was very excited to visit this place as the drag talent is EXTREMELY good!! However the drinks are cheap which is good but when you switch the premium bottles with well liquor that's not right! Ordered a grey goose and it was terrible not grey goose vodka at all my friend got a Tito's soda and it didn't even taste like Tito's more like the vodka you get from a gas station for a high school party! Visiting Sioux Falls, was in here on a Friday night with a group of 10 for my friend's birthday. We had some tasty fish bowls and service was fast. Sitting outside on the patio, a server got feisty and assured us that Club David is not a gay bar but a "variety" bar. Pretty awkward, didn't appreciate the hate so we left. read more

AWESOME BAR!! Great atmosphere, terrific drinks, excellent music. Will definitely be coming back again. A definite must to visit.

Great staff for the most part, but they have an older guy behind the bar who doesn't know what he is doing. Took him about 3 minutes to make my drink and get me change for a ten. That is way too long on a busy Saturday night. I can only hope the owner gets rid of this guy quickly. Busy-ish on the weekend, great patio and dance floor, but the DJ leaves much to be desired. Pretty sure he is drunk and is just playing play lists. I haven't seen him actually mix a single track. So he isn't really a Club DJ, just a guy with a big music library? Overall, Meh. read more
