PumpJacks Saloon & Steak House - New! Sausage and pierogi dinner

As I write this review, I'm surprised I took the first photos of this place. I would have gotten…read moresome more! The vibe is a nice pub-style place, maybe a step above TGI Friday's, with plenty of restaurant area around the bar. Service was done most excellently, patiently, and attentively. So far, five stars. The entree did little to detract from that. The sausage is a fresh product, definitely not mass produced. I can't be as sure about the pierogis, as they paled in comparison to that wonderful meat; the potato inside was kinda pasty and there wasn't a lot. But those were the accompaniment, so OK, it is what it is. I asked at the bar and we came up with a local beer (or at least a Canadian one) on the darker side, which was satisfying and good to see the bar vary in selection. It's kinda surprising that dessert would be the place to subtract a star, but I should have taken more heed when the waitress said "it's not yet berry season but the freezer lets us keep pie year round!" 11 month old pie did not work out. The crust was limp, the inside pasty. The berries didn't stand out. A good pie focuses on the fruit inside and lets that flavor roll the spices with it. This pie absorbed everything into a gelatin and masked all the good parts. The ice cream was nice, but in hindsight, I should have nixed the frozen pie idea. That's what a beer will do to your judgment. Overall: A solid 4 stars, but I have to cite food inconsistency as the missing 5th star. I only ordered 2 dishes, and really the sausage was the best part. Reading the other reviews... okay, wait, just read reviews by someone who has left more than one. (Les P. as of 5/23/23) And take it from there - I think this place is solid and therefore I can recommend if you're in Weyburn.

Great food, large menu to choose from, and large portions. I…read morehad the Greek ribs and chicken combo with Caesar salad, and my wife had the Spinach salad with chicken. They could have charged $10 more for my entree, and it still would be a great value. Go there and you won't be disappointed

On par with anything in Vancouver and I would place it in the top 5 in Canada as least. It is always a relief when previous reviews match up to your experience. And this is it did and more. The Baristas know how to pull a round, flavourful shot that is smooth and lacks the bitterness you find in so many coffee houses today. They keep their machine tuned and their people trained and it shows. I would make a trip across Regina for this coffee alone (and I have). That's not the end of it. Their baked goods are fantastic as are their various savoury menu offerings. And if you are lucky and get in early enough you may be able to snag one of their daily scone specials. I live in Victoria BC and you would think that being surrounded by Scots you could find plenty of great scones. Not so. The scones at French Press are light and fluffy with a crisp exterior and melt in your mouth. Likely THE BEST SCONE I have ever tasted. I can only say that if you have not tried this spot you are missing something truly special.

I sat on the comfortable couch and worked on my homework and everything was fine except for a rude old man who complained to me that I should not sit there for some unknown reason. The couch space next to me and surrounding chairs were all empty though. He could have sat down.
