It was the location where folks met, bought tickets for raffle prizes and various "give aways" that benefitted Birmingham/Jefferson County animal shelters, and drank and visited. These events were always fairly early in the evening like 6-9 PM so I cannot speak to the after-hours/early mornings at Nana's. It was a fine venue to have a drink and support Do Dah Day.

But there I was, so here is what it's like. This place breaks all 3 of my rules for bars. I've always said 1) no sticky floors, 2) no 50 gallon trash cans, and 3) no plastic cups. Well, it has all 3. So there's that. Security at the door searches everyone with a metal detecting wand. There's a cover. There's a mechanical bull. There's a stage with a gaggle of people doing indiscernible shit that appears to be some kind of musical performance but I literally am not sure. There is cigarette smoke in the air. There are people stumbling around attempting to socialize who I feel are unlikely to remember a lot of this tomorrow. The drinks are cheap and pretty bad, the crowd is at that stage of their lives where they are mystified by being out late at night in loud, dark, crowded places where seedy vibes are in the air. I'd be willing to bet you could score a variety of drugs in the place if that was your thing. The odds seemed pretty high just going off the vibes. Overall it was...an experience. Probably would not do it again, but you can if you want.

There is free parking in the lot beside the building. They have multiple bars in the building as well as ample seating. The DJ played a good mix of country, r&b, and smooth slow songs. When we arrived on a Saturday night around 10:30/11 there was a $10 cover but I'm sure it varies by night and time. Security was ever present so that was a good measure as well even though everyone was peaceful during our visit.

There's no food sold there but you have the option to drink all night if you'd like to while listening good music. For the persons who are not dancers, they have a ton of inside seating, overall a very good experience.

I'd honestly recommend pre-gaming before you go, because the cover charge is usually around $25 just to get in. It is still fun, though. The place has three different rooms -- a club-style dance room with smoke and flashing lights, a bar area, and an upstairs dance floor with a DJ -- so you can kind of pick your vibe for the night. The bartenders are okay, but they can be a little rude sometimes, which is a downside. Also, the floors are slippery asf most nights, so watch your step. Overall, Rounders can be a good time if you go with the right group and know what you're getting into. Fun vibes, but definitely pricey.

I apologized, but instead of allowing the situation to be resolved, security immediately kicked me and my friends out, claiming we were a "disturbance." What makes this experience even more frustrating is that the girl who insulted me knew the security guard. I was never given an opportunity to explain myself, and despite apologizing, I was still forced to leave. It's disappointing that a situation that could have been resolved with a simple conversation resulted in us being kicked out.

However, I walked in around 11:30 p.m. and waited...and waited...and waited...for a single band to perform. No one did...soundcheck after soundcheck and no performers. After an hour, I asked the security worker for a partial refund (at least?) if I left. He sent me to another person (promoter or manager) who rudely yelled that he had five bands to pay and there are no refunds (partial or otherwise). I heard not a single group and left with less than 18 dollars in my pocket. I'm no stranger to bars (having played in Birmingham area rock groups for many years) or "Crush" (having played there when it was Louie Louies) and I empathize slightly with the situation. But his behavior was rude and uncalled for. I suggest that if you visit "Crush," ask many questions about why you are paying so high a cover price AND ask when the performances begin.
