The principal in particular is passionate about education. I have witnessed her go the extra mile to make sure kids have the tools to succeed in school . She is hands on and does a lot of community work to benefit the families that attend. That being said, I feel this jewel of a school could use more funding... there are so many missed opportunities that could easily be solved with better support from the state. (Why do the "richer" neigbourhoods get all the financial grants for their school when it is schools like this one that need it more. )

I've visited here a few times, and I must say, every staff member I have met is amazing, they are great with the kids and they remember who you are so quickly as well! We had nothing but good experiences here and highly recommend it. The teachers are very patient with the children, older children help younger children settle into routines, and the school even helps with potty training when the time comes. When our daughter started Kindergarten at the local elementary school, we found she was far beyond her classmates in math. This school prepared her well. Your child will take time to settle into the new environment. It took my oldest nearly six weeks. The school will work with you, so be patient and don't blame the school if your child isn't ready.

Let me save you the headache! This place is a freakinnn' mess…read more After essentially being pushed out just two days in, I was told I'd get a full refund, minus the two days my son was "in school", yeah.. ok. What I got instead was several weeks of back and fourth emails, and a check that was finally recieved via snail mail aka USPS. I thought: "FINALLY", cause... hey, we're talking a little over $1,800. I go to deposit it and lo and behold.. IT'S NOT SIGNED. Yes, seriously, they sent me an unsigned check. From there, I went back to the email thread, going back and forth a million times with accounting and random people who never introduced themselves. An aggressive email from a random staff member named Patricia, who never introduced herself or her role in the whole situation. I didn't receive any phone calls, no apology, no accountability. Weeks go by, and I don't receive another check, so I filed a dispute with my bank after attempting to resolve this for over a month. Guess what? I finally heard back from accounting. They tried to get me to cancel my dispute so that they could issue a check again. I said nope! Thankfully, a week or so later, my bank was able to refund me the entire amount after literally faxing them our email thread and the unsigned check. Please do not bring yourself or your children here. The staff here is unprofessional and incompetent and needs to brush up on their customer service. Avoid. At. All. Costs.

As a result, girls unfairly blamed boys for various serious issues, including misunderstandings, leading to automatic expulsions and suspensions. In hindsight, TCS Elementary does not look academically strong. When we left TCS after a number of…read moreyears, we found that our child was behind, especially in math. We went from an A in math at TCS to starting at an F at a public school. Our child was not the only child new to the school, but the only student in class that failed the first two math tests of the school year, because a lot of the material was new. Our student has to work hard to catch up and is saying that while TCS was a nice school, "I am learning much more now", and "I like my new school better". I'm glad we made the change. This review is for those who may be in a similar situation and on the fence. Pros: Nice campus, safe. Mrs. D was the best teacher for us. Cons: Many inexperienced teachers. Limited curriculum in science, math, and history.

I felt that the teachers truly cared about my daughter and she absolutely thrived in their environment. One example- when my daughter was having a hard time with drop-off, Miss Becca developed a special drop-off routine just for her- and it worked! I felt so good about sending her to school--knowing that everyday, she would be reading, singing, playing outside, and doing art. I was sad to leave TC behind when we moved out of the area, and now that I am looking at new schools for my children, I appreciate even more what a great place TC is. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
