During our boat ride, we got to see bald-head eagle, see sea lion and a crazy amount of seals sun bathing. After the fun tour on the water, we arrived at Silver King Lodge. It is a small building with lots of wood curving, which was interesting. Right in front of the lodge, we saw some Sitka black tail fawns! Then off to a rainforest hike. Our guide told us that it was going to be "the easiest hike" you will ever do. We headed off to the Memorial Trail. Once we started the hike, we saw what he meant by that. The walking trail was a wide wooden trail, I assume it is probably is accessible by wheelchair too. And hence, the easiest hike. I don't even know if it can be called a "hike" at this point...LOL. The rainforest was pretty cool, it was mostly covered with different kinds of moss. We learned about moss and other plants and trees during our short walk. After taking in all the wonderful nature, it was time to walk back to the Silver King Lodge. The "hike" was about 20 minutes walk. And, we were walking slow, so the trail is kind of short. The picnic tables were all set up for us for the feast. Once we were all seated, the pot was brought over to each table and he dumped the pot of seafood gold onto our table. The seafood feast included crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, and sausage. Oh my goodness they were awesome!!! So much crab legs and everything else... We all got down and dirty for this delectable feast. The ride back to the dock was much faster, since we didn't stop to look for any wildlife on the way back. Our tour guide kept us entertained on the ride back though. Our first excursion was a big success! We had a great time on this tour and feast. I had a high expectation for the feast, and it certainly delivered!

There are wood carving animals all over the lodge. Whoever did those, great talent!! We went for a short walk at the Memorial Trail. We saw many different kinds of trees and plants. They have the largest Red Cedar Tree there!! The tour is very informative. After the trail, we were served with delicious seafood fest!! Yummm~ On the way back to the marina, we even saw eagle catching a fish right in front of our eyes~ The memory is just priceless!!!

From the moment we arrived in alaska we had a personal shuttle waiting for us and the driver loaded our luggage and took us to the hotel where we were greeted by Michael who was the rep we made the arrangements with. he had set up up with all kinds of activities (we were not big on fishing everyday) We did fish one day and it was extraordinary our Guide took us out about an hour and we caught our limit of Silver Salmon with in just a few hours the we moved to another spot to catch habitat and caught our limit both in size and quantity with in 2 1/2 hours. on our way back we were talking and i mention I was hoping to see whales and he took a detour just so i could spot a few (Above and Beyond) Other Activities included a Crab Feast at the George Inlet Lodge & a Flight See Tour of the Falls. Overall I would highly recommend this Lodge and the Fishing trip. Especially if you are a fisherman. I can't fathom how much fish we would have caught if we were to go out again. PS The Lodge also have Breakfast & Dinner for us everyday prepared by an awesome chef. She always had great food for us.

Some staff were pretty rude to the folks in our group. I reserved a certain Type of room from our room block and the guy at the front rudely dismissed my request to move. We had packages delivered for our event at the civic center and i twice inquired at the front desk only to be told they didn't have them. The boxes included items to be used at our event. When my co-worker showed me the confirmation email that they arrived a day before us, we went back. But were told again that there were no boxes in the back and the staff refused to go back to look. We hailed a guy (worked in the restaurant) and asked if he could look. He did and the boxes were back there. The room was ok but house keeping didn't clean my room because I had "personal items" on my bed. A couple days into the trip. I felt a bite on my leg in in the middle Of the night. By the time i check out (5 days) I had a number of bites. Not to mention, I only got hot water for about 1/2 my stay. The van driver was awesome, restaurant staff, as was Melissa at the gift shop. The hotel was nice but could improve a lot if the staff was trained and address the possible Bed Bug problem.

The three of us have been on sport fishing boats for 40 years from Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, Neah Bay to Seward. We can deal with short, gruff and barely personable boat captains. What we couldn't deal with is he got gruffer, quieter and more non-responsive as the 5 day trip went on. The tipping point was on day 3 when he decided on his own we would spend all day going after our now limit of only 2 Kings. 3 hours in to this quest he hadn't told us about, he revealed it to us. I then calmly explained to him we were after quantity (Silvers, halibut, black rock) not these 2 fish. The only way I can explain his response is he went into utter shutdown, non-communicative, gruffer, friendly as a rattlesnake. 2+ hours before heading in he suggested because the fishing was so bad we should go in early. Never had we ever heard that from a boat captain. We said we would fish until the end. The result, one silver one rock fish for the whole day we had spent $3000 for. When we got back to the dock, boat after boat came in with limits. The fishing wasn't bad, Captain Jiggy had given up, for who knows why. One us went and spoke to the General Manager. No known action was taken but it appeared Jiggy was told about our complaint. Next day and last half day, same mopey Jiggy but thankfully we caught a barely acceptable amount of fish on day 4 (almost limit of silver, one black, 0 halibut) and then 2 silvers on the last half day. We then went and spoke to the assistant manager. She was nice but nothing happened. We suggested making up for the loss of fish on day 3 but she said that was illegal. Now to be clear, the day three skunking we took was not do to a bad fish day or bad fishing, it was Captain Jiggy going through the motions and hitting one blank spot after another. He did not appear to coordinate or even ask other captains where the action was. My polite response to his quest for 2 kings apparently sent him in to an emotional downward spiral. Not cool of him, and not cool we got no help from management. Very expensive trip for very crappy memories.

I never set up that alarm and it only went off on check out day. If that is something they do to guests on check out day, that is just abusive. I had to unplug the entire clock and alarm system to make it stop. What didn't go wrong? I run a business so I understand the challenges faced, but this hotel honestly has no business letting itself run in this state. Every single facet needs a huge overhaul. And the price is ludicrous, and just exists because they're the only nearby hotel. First Google review of my life, because I've never been this miffed by a business before that I felt it my absolute duty to save others from a similar experience.
