During our boat ride, we got to see bald-head eagle, see sea lion and a crazy amount of seals sun bathing. After the fun tour on the water, we arrived at Silver King Lodge. It is a small building with lots of wood curving, which was interesting. Right in front of the lodge, we saw some Sitka black tail fawns! Then off to a rainforest hike. Our guide told us that it was going to be "the easiest hike" you will ever do. We headed off to the Memorial Trail. Once we started the hike, we saw what he meant by that. The walking trail was a wide wooden trail, I assume it is probably is accessible by wheelchair too. And hence, the easiest hike. I don't even know if it can be called a "hike" at this point...LOL. The rainforest was pretty cool, it was mostly covered with different kinds of moss. We learned about moss and other plants and trees during our short walk. After taking in all the wonderful nature, it was time to walk back to the Silver King Lodge. The "hike" was about 20 minutes walk. And, we were walking slow, so the trail is kind of short. The picnic tables were all set up for us for the feast. Once we were all seated, the pot was brought over to each table and he dumped the pot of seafood gold onto our table. The seafood feast included crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, and sausage. Oh my goodness they were awesome!!! So much crab legs and everything else... We all got down and dirty for this delectable feast. The ride back to the dock was much faster, since we didn't stop to look for any wildlife on the way back. Our tour guide kept us entertained on the ride back though. Our first excursion was a big success! We had a great time on this tour and feast. I had a high expectation for the feast, and it certainly delivered!

There are wood carving animals all over the lodge. Whoever did those, great talent!! We went for a short walk at the Memorial Trail. We saw many different kinds of trees and plants. They have the largest Red Cedar Tree there!! The tour is very informative. After the trail, we were served with delicious seafood fest!! Yummm~ On the way back to the marina, we even saw eagle catching a fish right in front of our eyes~ The memory is just priceless!!!

Probably not, but we quite enjoyed it. The front desk help was pleasant and friendly, the restaurant staff were bending over backwards to make sure we had a good experience, and after a LONG day of traveling it was nice to have such pleasant people around us. We didn't turn on the TV, don't know if the phone worked, didn't get bugged by ancillary noises, just was able to relax and get a great night's sleep.

Breakfast burrito had cold cheese the first time and was 3 different sizes completely each time. Extremely slow to take order in both restaurants on several occasions, and after bringing food (which required ketchup [burger and fries], had to wait ages to begin meal for ketchup to come. -Alarm clock going off repeatedly at 5am on checkout day. I never set up that alarm and it only went off on check out day. If that is something they do to guests on check out day, that is just abusive. I had to unplug the entire clock and alarm system to make it stop. What didn't go wrong? I run a business so I understand the challenges faced, but this hotel honestly has no business letting itself run in this state. Every single facet needs a huge overhaul. And the price is ludicrous, and just exists because they're the only nearby hotel. First Google review of my life, because I've never been this miffed by a business before that I felt it my absolute duty to save others from a similar experience. My Place Hotel right across the street has to be better

As the taxi rides into downtown can average $25 each way. There is a shuttle available or at least they try to make it available for you where just pay gratuities. That did not always work out. However, if you can schedule ahead. I'm pretty sure you won't need to use the taxi. There is also a bus stop right in the parking lot so if you have the extra time and can be a little flexible, the location should not be an issue. Had a couple bumps in the road initially : the heat did not work in our room, and we had to move in the middle of the night our first night. However, Manny was absolutely amazing and he helped out. We hardly noticed the inconvenience once we got settled into our new room. We had an amazing view on the second floor. I think it's just the little things that prevented a higher rating. The lack of TP we had to request. The TV not working the first night, the shampoo should have been replaced in the room. The blow dryer was missing in our initial room so we had to request that as well. I think if housekeeping had just done a check in the room before they rented that out for guest all of these minor bumps could have been prevented. The staff was friendly, though and knowledgeable, They will also be able to provide an affordable option for fishing at Salmon Falls. They provided the shuttle back-and-forth as well. I would still recommend this place if you're looking for an affordable option to stay in Ketchikan. No pizzazz, but definitely worth a consideration.
