Our room was good enough. Hubs and I were cramped but fit 2 suitcases and our carry ons also. The guys had a room twice the size as ours with 2 queens. Best part... ice chest had bags of ice so you know people aren't breathing on and touching the community ice. There was also a constant supply of tea and coffee. If you're looking for luxury, you're looking in the wrong place.

We slept in the loft up the metal spiral staircase, and shared the downstairs bathroom and kitchenette. The balcony over looking the creek was refreshing with a cup of coffee and private from the cruise shippers checking out the shops. The staff was super friendly picking us up at the ferry, recommending restaurants, and holding our bags before we head back to the ferry.

The next day we ran out of coffee and Wendy brought coffee, towels and even bottles of water to our room. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. It's quiet too. Our room was in the back and we heard nothing back there. The towels were great and smelled of bleach so I knew they were cleaned well. There is a little store by the front desk where you can buy snacks or a tooth brush or even dishes as there is a small kitchenette in each room. Each of the refrigerator/freezers in the rooms has an ice maker. If I get back to Ketchikan this is the motel I will be staying at. I don't think you can go wrong staying here.

Overall I would highly recommend this Lodge and the Fishing trip. Especially if you are a fisherman. I can't fathom how much fish we would have caught if we were to go out again. As the taxi rides into downtown can average $25 each way. There is a shuttle available or at least they try to make it available for you where just pay gratuities. That did not always work out. However, if you can schedule ahead. I'm pretty sure you won't need to use the taxi. There is also a bus stop right in the parking lot so if you have the extra time and can be a little flexible, the location should not be an issue. Had a couple bumps in the road initially : the heat did not work in our room, and we had to move in the middle of the night our first night. However, Manny was absolutely amazing and he helped out. We hardly noticed the inconvenience once we got settled into our new room. We had an amazing view on the second floor. I think it's just the little things that prevented a higher rating. The lack of TP we had to request. The TV not working the first night, the shampoo should have been replaced in the room. The blow dryer was missing in our initial room so we had to request that as well. I think if housekeeping had just done a check in the room before they rented that out for guest all of these minor bumps could have been prevented. The staff was friendly, though and knowledgeable, They will also be able to provide an affordable option for fishing at Salmon Falls. They provided the shuttle back-and-forth as well. I would still recommend this place if you're looking for an affordable option to stay in Ketchikan. No pizzazz, but definitely worth a consideration.
