Me and a friend wanted to smoke some Hookah and I never tried this lounge before so we gave it a try. As we walked in around 11:30 pm, it was empty with just one employee. We order a Caribbean flavor, it had mint and a couple of other flavors. It cost 40.00 for a bowl of hookah. My friend order a bottle Modelo that cost 15.00 and I ordered a can of ginger ale that was 5 dollars. It was overpriced. I still tipped about 10$. I saw a coach roach crawling on the counter. I was already there and I was wondering if they even sanitize their hookah bong because it had another person remove able mouth piece on it. I've been here a few times and there is nothing great about it but this last time I went over the weekend was the last time ever. They don't have lights on, their bathroom is super sketchy without lights on as well. This is not my first hookah lounge. As in I smoke hookah at least once a week, but if you're new to hookah and want low grade shisha, this is your place. TLDR at the bottom. The hookah was very over priced ($34 weekend; $24 weekday) and the quality was not worth it. They charge $2 per coconara cube, so unless you want to pay extra, quick start charcoals are what you'll be given. When prepping they stack the coals, instead of evenly placing them, this changed how the hookah hit. But it's effective considering how often he comes to change the coals out. Rarely. My coals had gotten down to ash a few times throughout my session. And the music, was too loud for a "lounge". It's like the owner wanted it to be a club but there were only two people there so, yeah. There's art on the walls and splattered paint on the floors. That didn't bother me, but I know it will bother some. You won't be getting an "authentic" experience here that's for sure. Definitely a place you come to when you're already drunk. Like a cute date at night, bad decision in the morning. At some point everyone should experience bad customer service and a crappy experience so they can appreciate when they come across a place worth while. And let me tell you, there are plenty of awesome hookah cafes, lounges, bars, whatever you say, here in SD that you can enjoy, done properly. You almost think you may have walked into the wrong place. It's $15 for a hookah and they play hella loud top 40 ratchet music. I won't even call it hip hop. Came here on a whim last night since our moto was parked right outside the lounge. We were the only customers but then again, it was a Wed and 7:30pm. We thought it was a weird location for a hookah lounge. It's very spacious inside and they have flat screens around the entire place. Plus, they use Bose speakers. That's already a plus. haha In any case, we ordered the special. Which was spearmint gum and mint in an orange. (Cost $25) The hookah was super smooth. The owner is super friendly and nice. It was my birthday. So I went to dinner with friends and was like let's go smoke hookah. I usually smoke at my regular spots in downtown like mina or art hookah. But I like to support small businesses. I told my friends let's smoke across the street. When I ordered the hookah the owner said it was $34. I go wow that's pretty pricey. He said it's an after midnight price. I thought that was odd after midnight should be cheaper he said it's because it gets too busy. Hmmmm didn't make sense. The place only had 2 small groups of people. It got less busy. I asked the table next to me how much they paid and the girl said $24. So my friends confronted the owner stating why he would charge me $34 for the basic hookah ( mind you no fruit head, no glass hookah). When he brought it out the hookah had the cheap fast lit coals that hurt your throat. I don't ever use those coals all I use is coca Nara. I make hookahs at home and an expert in it. I thought it would be a great hookah for that price it was gross. On top of it the owner said he would refund me $10 since he charged me $34. And charged everyone else $24. Funny huh? I asked him where does it say that on his menu. He said that price isn't on his menu, so he profiled me. Btw I never got that refund on my card. I've been back to this hookah bar maybe 4 times. The owner Conrad is always nice and attentive: he brings me coals/tongs, asks if the taste is ok, asks if I want him to turn down/turn up/change the music, etc. Just overall excellent customer service. The reason I'm writing another review: omg, the quality of the smoke has really risen. It was such a nice, clean, FLAVORFUL smoke the last two times I went. I asked Conrad what he had been doing different. He told me he met with some middle eastern friends who showed him how to properly pack a bowl and I can taste/tell Conrad really paid attention. Conrad the owner literally just opened this place up and has an incredible inviting vision for this place. He has given me the best customer service and he treated me as a friend and not a customer. He was really interested in hearing my suggestions and when he told me what he sees this place becoming I am intrigued. Cloud 9 is a home-y feel lounge where you can just hang out with your friends and relax. Open late night you can come in after a few drinks and end the night well. Cool place to go to after going to a few bars in NP but otherwise wouldn't go out of my way for this establishment. 1.) They use dry Shisha. That means if a coal stays on a spot for too long then it burns the shisha. Once it burns the bowl becomes "harsh" and then your spending more time to clear it out. The easy solution is to move the coal, the only problem is that i have to go to the front desk to wave down an attendant for that to happen. WAY too much of a hassle to just enjoy my hookah since i had to do that 9 times during our stay. Granted they might have used to give out tongs to their patrons but stopped when patrons fucked up their couches or floors but not being able to adjust the burn only ruins the experience. read more

Honestly I use to work at a hookah lounge granted that $34 is not a lot of money but for a hookah with a small ceramic bowl it is it's not even that normal Egyptian Bowl it's ridiculously priced and the hookah sucks the guys just used a hookah that was already out I use to work at a hookah lounge and we use hookahs depending not what the customers flavor is because if you use a hookah for flavored sheesh you should not use that hookah for a mint bowl because of the fact that the hookah will be tainted with the flavor. I want to give this place 4 stars basically because it was one of the most entertaining experiences. The owner Conrad charged us an arm and a leg for the hookah. It was unknown how much he charged for the water bottles but it was a lot. For starters, he proceeded to tell us the hookah lounge is a "ghetto business" therefore they have several issues throughout the evening. An individual who was heavily intoxicated crashed into the front door and Conrad proceeded to run out the front door and scream at him. The individual then entered the hookah lounge and proceeded to light a cigarette. Conrad immediately screamed at the individual and told him not to smoke inside. Conrad then proceeded to physically remove the man from the establishment. Afterwards, I overheard Conrad training another employee. He stated several undercover officers have been going to the business recently and they need to be careful. The rest of the evening just consisted of Conrad shouting and screaming at random patrons. Conrad was also dancing doing tribal/raindances randomly so yes, very funny. Honestly it's a very entertaining experience. Hookah is nothing extraordinary and a little over priced. read more

I love how the gentleman working here LIED about the shesh they use. So I came here on a Sunday night with a couple friends and boy was it a mistake. I should have just went home and smoked my own hookah. We got in and there was only this other group of two there so the place was pretty dead. My girlfriend ordered a hookah which I believe was about $25. After smoking for a bit I asked the guy working what kind of shesh they use because it tasted like ASS. (I personally smoke Fumari) he said it was starbuzz but there's no way in hell that stuff was starbuzz. It tasted like that cheap stuff you smoke when you're 15 and have no idea what you're doing.
