I saw racks and racks of men's and women's clothing, shoes, accessories, footwear, household goods, dishes, and kitchen equipment in the front of the store. In the back of the store were CD's, record albums, thousands of books, collectibles and pretty much everything. I even saw three Pez dispensers with likenesses of former presidents. Much of the inventory is what I'd call vintage, which is a code word for "old". Those items may not be for everyone, but if you're into old dishes, bric a brac, dolls, China, wall hangings, glassware, jewelry, furniture, and lamps, well Favarh might just be what you're looking for. Today was 50% off day, and I scooped up two ties marked at $2 each for a grand total of $2.13. You might find a thrift store out there with better quality merchandise, but I'm not sure you'll find one with as much stuff as I saw here. And since their proceeds go to charity, it's well worth your time to check out their stock and see what bargains appeal to you.

A very organized thrift shop and for a good cause. The employees were also super friendly. Favarh…read moreis a non profit organization which helps people with disabilities since 1958. The employees there are volunteers. Once I walked in, it looked like a boutique. Clothes, shoes, and cutlery/china were in the front area. Everything was organized by size and color. I immediately found a Vineyard Vines sweater that I loved for $12. They have sales based on color of the day/week; I would ask the employee for that information. In the back section, they had household items, books, and miscellaneous items. You can also sign up for their free rewards card; you gain points from every purchase and that adds up for future discounts. Overall, a great thrift store and I look forward to shopping there.

Well, she got the chance, and dragged me through the shelves, stacks and racks one morning. I will say this: you really need to know what you're looking at, and it's general worth. There are a few gems hidden among the dross, so it's important to be able to tell them apart. WF found a couple of candlesticks, that looked the same to me, and each priced at $3. She looked at both, picked up one, and explained that one was pewter and probably worth $50-$100, and the other one was cast aluminum, and not even worth $3. It seemed that these difference were all over the store; similar things priced the same, with one being a bargain, and the other being a waste. One thing that I didn't appreciate was one of the old ladies shadowing us while we made our way through the shelves; she was always within a few feet of us. Maybe she wanted to be close by in case we had questions, but it made me feel like a criminal she wanted to catch in the act. When we finished exploring this room, we headed over the other one, which was primarily clothing and textiles. WF was looking for curtains that she could repurpose for another project. This room was bright and cheery, as opposed to the other one, with windows covered and few lights. The clerk in this area barely noticed us when we walked in and didn't leave her seat behind the desk the entire time we were there - she didn't even respond when we said "Good morning!". We didn't last long in here, since there was nothing WF saw that met her needs. If I had more room, and a better grasp of antiques, I may come here more often, if for nothing else than to find those hidden bargains and resell them on eBay. Right now, with limited storage and a hatred of dusting, I'm just going to limit myself to browsing.

It withstood the thrift price hikes that other thrift stores fell victim to for a long time, but now seems to have succumbed. I don't mind paying a little more for their main room, where unbroken and nicely organized things have been curated, tagged with a price, and the shopping experience is pretty pleasant. What I do object to is when I choke through the cigarette soaked air of the back room, with its dangerous, uneven flooring and overflowing aisles of 50% absolute garbage, none of which has any indication of a price, and then pay prices that used to be reserved for their boutique room. I once could get a bag full of painstakingly selected little treasures (I mean, seriously, you WORK for any good stuff in the back room!) for just a few dollars, with pleasant cheerful service. Now, I bring my little bundle up to the front to "check out" and the price quoted is easily double or triple what it was just a year ago. And the workers have been unpleasant lately. So sad. I used to look forward to coming here so much, but I think I'll be skipping it from now on.
